To be shocked BREXIT is going to affect cancer treatment?

Just listening to the BBC radio news and they were interviewing an oncologist who said that because of worries about getting hold of enough isotopes straight after BREXIT, Drs have been advised by the Government to book less people into their clinics for both diagnosis and treatment.
This will mean longer waits for diagnosis and treatment from some patients. I was taken aback that such a serious medical issue is being affected.

But got to admire how you can combine ignorance and prejudice into just two short sentences.

SparklySneakers · 07/03/2019 07:21

Well, MissedTheBoatAgain has certainly said some stupid things on this thread but that one takes the cake.

MissedTheBoatAgain

22 Days to Brexit. Hoorah

Please can you explain why you're so excited that there are only 22 days left?

I can't imagine anyone in charge, (I use this term loosely) is actually excited about how few days are left. Confused

Lweji · 07/03/2019 07:32

Even JRM suggested it could up to 50 years before the full benefit of Brexit is felt.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it took less time to recover from WWII, even for Germany, who on 50 years split and was reunited again.
It's longer than many people's life time.

There is a sweaty sock (jock) in same Company as myself

Behold the Brexit voter in all their racist finery.

In 22 days, the power of Great British BeLeaving will change the laws of physics and make the half-life of Tc-99m longer than 6 hours?

PrawnOfCreation · 07/03/2019 08:08

whilst Students from; England, Northern Ireland and Wales have to pay.

Some people would write to MPs and say can we have the same, can we use our budget for health and education.

Some would rather sit and stew in shit, wave the St George and demand everyone has as little as they do. Suppose when you can't manage to understand your own countries borders (and for some your own national anthem and resort to Eng-Ger-Land instead) I shouldn't be surprised.

Then the pantomime is over.

It won't be over. It will just be the start of a decade painful protracted negotiations where we are the weaker party.

PrawnOfCreation · 07/03/2019 08:09

*country's

Our children's future wiped out.

TheWomanin12B · 07/03/2019 08:17

I can't believe people STILL think it's all over on March 29th.

We will be entering protracted and tedious negotiations that will last decades, in which we will be the weakest party.

This will never be over.

You don't think Remainers won't start campaigns to re-join?

It. Will. Never. Be. Over.

SaturdayNext · 07/03/2019 08:18

For sure UK will face difficulties for many year after Brexit as it will take time to recover and set up trade with other countries

Interesting to see how Leavers are lining up the excuses. The trouble is, none of them were saying this before the referendum, they were deriding those who suggested that any recovery would be needed.

MissedTheBoatAgain · 07/03/2019 08:19

They always laugh that they got University for free and that Students from EU Countries also get for free whilst Students from; England, Northern Ireland and Wales have to pay

Maybe not clear. Students from; England, Northern Ireland and Wales have to pay fees if they wish to attend a University in Scotland. However, if a student from EU Country outside UK wants to study at Scottish University they get it for free.

borntobequiet · 07/03/2019 08:24

There is a sweaty sock (jock) in same Company as myself.
Idiot. It's me, not myself. If you paid for your University education, you should have been more attentive.

Quite apart from the gratuitous insult to Scottish people.

MissedTheBoatAgain · 07/03/2019 08:26

You don't think Remainers won't start campaigns to re-join?

That would be a complete disaster. Bit like resigning from a job and then going back to same employer a few years later asking for job back as you can't find anything better. A sensible employer would say:

"Of course you can have your job back, but not on same terms as before. How about I pay you half of what you got before?"

EU would be fools not to squeeze UK if they attempted to re-join. They could even present UK will a bill for the disruption caused.

MissedTheBoatAgain · 07/03/2019 08:28

they were deriding those who suggested that any recovery would be needed

I am sure those that voted leave did not think that things would continue as before without some disruption

DogInATent · 07/03/2019 08:28

And for further clarity:

The UK (mostly England, when you look at the constituency results) voted for a Government that put tuition fees on education. Will of the People, and all that.

Scotland voted for a Scottish Parliament (it also voted fora majority of MPs that supported the same policy) that chose to divert some of it's allocated budget into providing free tuition after the UK government. Scotland has always placed a higher emphasis on education than England, it's a cultural thing.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/03/2019 08:30

Interesting to see how Leavers are lining up the excuses

Its absolutely fascinating

2 years ago it was all...the deal will be easy, country will have more money, we won get over it

About 6 months it changed to .....obviously its going to be difficult, we said it would be but its worth it

And now its....well its people who voted remains fault

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/03/2019 08:31

I am sure those that voted leave did not think that things would continue as before without some disruption

Complete bollocks

MissedTheBoatAgain · 07/03/2019 08:31

Scotland has always placed a higher emphasis on education than England, it's a cultural thing

Maybe, but how is not discrimination to offer free University in Scotland to a Student from Eastern Europe, but at same time charge a Student from; England, Nothern Ireland and Wales?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/03/2019 08:32

Although I'm sure some people who voted leave believed that, unfortunately they weren't on mumsnet

MissedTheBoatAgain · 07/03/2019 08:35

2 years ago it was all...the deal will be easy, country will have more money, we won get over it

No incentive for EU to offer a good deal as they are afraid other Countries would follow. Better to have realized that No Deal was the only way and to have spent time preparing for a No Deal rather than waste 2 years on pointless negotiations
