Op I'm repeatedly surprised that people like yourself and others I've spoken with in real life are only JUST realising how bad things are.
I had a very interesting discussion with a grocery delivery chap who had noticed the increase in what people were buying but genuinely had no clue why. Through the discussion it became apparent he'd no idea that much of our food came from the eu, even if "made in Britain" ingredients and manufacturing materials from Eu were needed, his wife is diabetic and he'd no idea of the possible issues there. It shocks me the govt aren't even informing the public properly of the issues and what we can possibly do to help matters.
I don't understand the stance of not watching the news or other current affairs tv/reading newspapers/reading online news outlets/reading related posts on SM/finding out how such an event is likely to affect you personally. Ignoring it isn't going to change it.

Yep I'm very much noticing the leavers I know in real life and even a few on here (with some notable exceptions) getting quieter and quieter the more the fuck ups become apparent. A few of the leavers I know are diabetics or otherwise chronically ill, their family members are starting to be affected by things like job losses and yet they seem weirdly surprised by some of the things that have happened. As if they didn't think any of the negative stuff would affect THEM.

Bejam would you seriously be happy to eat food, let alone use medicines including radioactive treatments that haven't been subjected to ANY regulations and controls?! You think we should just allow completely unregulated movement of such things? You think that would be safe? Of course not! Besides isn't that what leavers voted for? MORE control at borders not less than we currently have. US controlling it rather than the EU? Which is WHY there'd be longer time needed at borders. What on earth did you think that would actually mean? No it's not magical fucking pixies would be doing it, it would be our govt! (Though are you also aware we don't have nearly enough trained staff to do this? And the govt haven't done anything about that? I have friends who work in this area, they've been stockpiling for ages!)

Weirdly I see this particularly in younger leavers who don't even remember us ever remotely being seen or treated this way!

Plus austerity doesn't work! Numerous economists have argued and shown this but our govt continues to run our country into the ground in the erroneous hope that eventually - despite all evidence to the contrary - that it will!
