AIBU to remind everyone that the MMR vaccine does NOT cause autism?

Seeing as this worry comes up so many times on MN and in wider life, I feel obliged to post this and remind everyone that MMR has not link to autism whatsoever, as yet another HUGE study has found.

Thanks.

OP posts:
callmeadoctor · 07/03/2019 12:40

Have reported the thread, Op is clearly trying to wind posters up :-(

HIVpos · 07/03/2019 12:54

why doesn’t the presence of supposed HIV antibodies = immunity to ‘HIV

Oh dear God Cath - you really don’t understand how the virus works do you? ’ suggest you google it’s lifecycle - back to basics! I’d give you a link but you are so entrenched in your mistaken belief I doubt you’d read it.

@callmeadoctor are you saying that Cath is the same person as the OP? If so, this is against MN T&C.

callmeadoctor · 07/03/2019 13:04

HIV, don't know who Cath is? not sure what you are talking about. You know OP is the opening poster don't you?

Katterinaballerina · 07/03/2019 13:07

Please don’t delete this thread MNHQ.

It takes apart bad science. It exposes the thinking behind antivax fearmongering. When people see that those who are slating vaccinations also believe in aliens, that HIV doesn’t cause AIDS and that germs don’t cause illness it makes them a lot less likely to buy into those theories.

Katterinaballerina · 07/03/2019 13:08

Report to HQ if you think there is sock puppetry going on.

HIVpos · 07/03/2019 13:12

Oh god More House of Numbers rubbish again - the AIDS Denialists handbook which has been pulled apart by many people and it’s contributors shown for who they are.

Re T cells, it is correct that our immune systems go up and down all the time - depends on time of day, what eaten or drunk, it we have a sniffle, if we’ve recently exercised...lots of things.

Most of us have no idea what our regular CD4 count is unless there is a need to monitor it and is different for everyone - between around 450 and 1500 is considered normal. The difference for someone who has a compromised immune system is that it goes down, and keeps on going down until whatever is causing it is treated. If it left untreated, or can’t be treated, you die. Allowing HIV to continually multiply and kill off white blood cells can have that effect. Other illnesses that have to same impact can do the same.

Cathmidston · 07/03/2019 13:15

HIVpos of course Callmeadoctor isn’t saying that ....Confused

That supposed lifecycle is an hypothesis ... you know what that is I presume

HIVpos · 07/03/2019 13:18

@callmeadoctor TheHodgeoftheHedge is the OP and has only posted a couple of times on it. I have no issue with the title as quite relevant to a lot of Mums trying to do the best for their kids and seeking info.

Cath is the one posting all the wind up material and is the dangerous one on here were any vulnerable person to actually believe the debunked crap she is posting

Cathmidston · 07/03/2019 13:23

@ Katterinaballerina what an utterly ridiculous argument...

you think that no one who is vaccinated believes in aliens, god or whatever it is you feel need the need to poke fun at or vice versa

So X believes in aliens and vaccinates therefore all those who vaccinate are nut jobs Confused

I said I didn’t believe in Pasteur’s germ theory model... but I gather this notion is beyond your mental scope and therefore you think I believe that germs don’t exist ...jeez

PhilomenaCunks · 07/03/2019 13:23

That supposed lifecycle is an hypothesis

As there is a large amount of good quality evidence backing the lifecycle of HIV and the idea that HIV is the cause of AIDS, it's a theory, not a hypothesis, Cathmidston.

Cathmidston · 07/03/2019 13:28

HIVpos ...like I said there are many leading researchers and scientists who don’t accept your HIV/AIDS model who have far more knowledge than you or I ... this information is freely and widely available to anyone who wants to look for it. This is not the one sided argument you are trying to portray.

Cathmidston · 07/03/2019 13:30

PhilomenaCunks you clearly know nothing about virology... it is an hyposthesis

HIVpos · 07/03/2019 13:30

“That supposed lifecycle is an hypothesis ... you know what that is I presume“

Depends on if you look at cold hard fact and scientific proof from up to date reliable sources - all easily available if you google HIV lifecycle. I have and have been into it in great detail. I know what each of the 3 drugs in my 1 pill combo are doing to my body and exactly how they are preventing the virus from replicating. As a result, I am alive and I am well.

  • Or you can just disbelieve anything you don’t agree with from such great sources as hypothesis because you live in la la land.

BUT... you still don’t believe the stuff you read and spout sufficiently enough to say conclusively that I should stop my 1 pill a day Hmm

PhilomenaCunks · 07/03/2019 13:34

there are many leading researchers and scientists who don’t accept your HIV/AIDS model who have far more knowledge than you or I

You're trying to appeal to authority again, Cathmidston, you need to cite your claims with good quality evidence.

it is an hyposthesis

Again, there is a large amount of evidence backing the ideas up;

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3187481/
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC269529/
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7808485

You're misappropriating scientific terms to try and validate your position on the issue.

Sirrah · 07/03/2019 13:35

I haven't read all 19 pages, so this might have been shared previously.

www.livescience.com/64909-measles-vaccine-not-linked-to-autism.html

HIVpos · 07/03/2019 13:39

Philomena - you are correct, there is. Knowing nothing is not wrong and you shouldn’t be put down because of it. At least you know it is out there should you want to learn more - just not from someone like Cath though!

Cath stop with the wide ranging “many leading researchers” thing. You have so far failed to produce even one person whose theory has not been debunked or been called to question due to not having the relevant experience in his field or clearly has MH problems. All you write can be disproved, and you seem incapable of posting anything up-to-date in a time we know so much more.

How about showing me someone who was living with a HIV, became an AIDS denialist and is still alive. Maggiore from your numbers link died of an AIDS defining illness, as did her 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER

Cathmidston · 07/03/2019 14:05

Maggiore did not die of an AIDS defining disease... she acquired a non AIDS defined type pneumonia and died not from that but from kidney failure thought to be due to the cocktail of drugs she was given.

Her daughter was considered by her physician to be a very healthy little girl. She acquired an ear infection and died very quickly after... not the typical ‘AIDS’ decline

I have a friend who was diagnosed HIV + in the early 90s didn’t take drugs, certainly took better care of themselves and is still alive and doing well

HIVpos · 07/03/2019 14:09

“It exposes the thinking behind antivax fearmongering. When people see that those who are slating vaccinations also believe in aliens, that HIV doesn’t cause AIDS and that germs don’t cause illness it makes them a lot less likely to buy into those theories.”

Exactly @Katterinaballerina

Cath, I believe the aliens reference would have been having read that one of your alleged experts believes in them.

Cathmidston · 07/03/2019 14:16

You’re referring to biochemist Kary Mullis who invented the PCR test and won a Nobel prize for it...... so the PCR test is now null and void because he made some reference to aliens Hmm

So all pro vaccine researchers who believe in god should have all those peer reviewed studies you love so much disbanded.. thought not

Gilead · 07/03/2019 14:16

I\m so bored with Cath's perceived intellect. Sorry Cath you are rude and patronising and under the impression that your research is somehow superior to peer reviewed evidence. You comment on people's capabilities of comprehension yet are unable to apply the word 'evidence' to any of your research. You also lied, you have not got a friend who tested HIV positive who has had no drugs and is fine.

Cathmidston · 07/03/2019 14:21

Gilead as opposed to you who mercilessly slates and derides anyone questioning vaccines.
So you know me do you?... I don’t think so

CostanzaG · 07/03/2019 14:23

You’re referring to biochemist Kary Mullis who invented the PCR test and won a Nobel prize for it...... so the PCR test is now null and void because he made some reference to aliens

He claimed to have been visited by aliens....that does make me question his sanity somewhat. He's also not an immunologist. Just because you are an expert in one subject doesn't make you an expert in another.
I am an expert in my field of study - that doesn't make me qualified to question my colleagues on their research.

Katterinaballerina · 07/03/2019 14:34

You said you don’t believe that germs cause illness. That’s what I’ve mentioned. When you back up your arguments with the views of ‘experts’, the scientific credentials and judgement of those individuals is held up to scrutiny.

Gilead · 07/03/2019 14:35

in the same way you know me Cath? You are at best misguided.
You are definitely dangerous.

HIVpos · 07/03/2019 14:40

Cath - complete and utter bollocks, but then as an AIDS denialist this is what you prefer to believe. You could even prefer to believe that she died from doing a radical detox, as some like you do.

Whether it was pneumonia, or rather more likely PCP (closely related) whatever it was, her system obviously couldn’t deal with it, DESPITE the drugs....wonder why Hmm although there are certain illnesses under the AIDS umbrella, they are not exclusive reasons for someone dying from untreated HIV

As for her 3 yr old, Elisa, who she insisted on giving birth to and breastfeeding while not on medication...she acquired an ear infection, and died soon after????. Blimey, aren’t you even going to go for the antibiotic reaction reaction pseudo theory?

The HIV+ person you know not on meds....aaah yes, I know 2 people similar. Interesting stuff and further knowledge of why could well help in cure research. This occurs to a very small % of PLHIV. They are known as EC (Elite Controllers) or LTNP (long term non progressions).

These people are well monitored and normally have a good CD4 count and either undetectable or extremely low Viral load count. However it is known that there may be ongoing inflammation going on in their body in managing to suppress the virus, so they are given the choice of having treatment should they wish.

There is not enough info yet, but it is thought that they lack the all important receptors on their CD4 cells that the virus needs to latch onto and infect/replicate within/kill
