To think being slim should be normal for most people.

By slim i mean sizes 8 to 12.

Obviously you get a minority who are not in this range naturally but for 80% of people this size should be natural, say they eat a reasonable diet of between 2000-3000 calories.

Im so sick of people at work making out i am abnormally thin for being a size 10. I watch what I eat but dont deprive myself. The same people making me out to be lucky to be slim eat fried chicken or pizza for lunch and seem to be able to demolish a whole pack of biscuits at 3 o clock.

Aibu to think that the normal human man/woman should be a size 8-12 and that to attain or maintain this does not require super human discipline or strength.

Saying fuck you or calling me a cunt is not an argument.

You’re right OP but I should imagine it’s pretty gratifying ? Hmm

IAmMeThisIsI · 03/03/2019 19:28

Well there's a obesity crisis in the UK so there must be a problem.

WendyCope · 03/03/2019 19:29

Samind they have man boobs and are taunting her for being slim! This is a fact. Why is this 'not excusable' to say to adults, on a forum.

They are obese.

They are making her have an issue with food FFS

She has a Normal bmii, THEY DO NOT

CalmDownPacino · 03/03/2019 19:30

Despite your convincing follow up post referring to little boys with wobbly stomachs and 'breasts', I'm going to stick with my original comment of pathetic. I very much enjoyed your nice touch of pointing out the dress size you imagine the mothers are. Of course, this is only because you're concerned for their health. Aye. Pull the other one. At least own what you're doing.

Notasunnybunny · 03/03/2019 19:31

It really depends on body type and height, I’m size 14 and a healthy weight but I’m broad shouldered and tall. I got down to a size 10 in my early 20’s and looked too skinny and a bit emaciated, another woman might look chunky as a size 10.

TalkinPaece · 03/03/2019 19:31

Welcome to Britain where obesity is normalised

Passthecake30 · 03/03/2019 19:32

The world would be a better place if everyone just minded their own business. I'm 6ft, size 10-12. I get many comments, mainly from people larger than me, about what I eat (and it's no way near the 3000 quoted by the op)

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 03/03/2019 19:32

Love the clarification of "normal human" man or woman lol do you mean as opposed to an alien or vampire?

BeardedMum · 03/03/2019 19:33

Some of the most unhealthiest people I know are very slim. Never excersise, eat crap and smoke.

Samind · 03/03/2019 19:34

The boys come out with wobbling thighs and breasts and stomachs. (Boys more than Girls) First thing their mothers do? Shove a huge ham sandwich in their mouth, so they endure the ride home. (Ride, not walk)

Mothers are all at least a size 18 FYI.

THIS is what is making me angry. You can only look after your own child. You know what arrangements to make with the school and ensure follow up care out with if necessary.

What was your attitude to obesity before these little wobbly thighed, man boobed boys started to be mean to your daughter?

HelenaDove · 03/03/2019 19:35

Britain has a huge drinking culture as well. Im teetotal and have never been drunk.

Does that give me a right to go and be smug about it over on the sober threads.

Dorsetdays · 03/03/2019 19:36

Calmdown. What a nasty person you must be 😳. Someone has come on here to say their young daughter now has food issues because of nasty name calling TO HER FACE and that’s your response?

Nothing has been said to the boys by the poster which would be inappropriate but there’s nothing wrong with saying it on here because she isn’t saying it them, like they are to her daughter. Clearly she also sees the mothers at school so I imagine she has a pretty good idea what they look like and how they are raising their children if they are feeding them crap in the school playground.

WendyCope. I hope you manage to sort out the issues at school and your DD overcomes this asap.

WendyCope · 03/03/2019 19:36

THE MOTHERS WEAR TENTS and look at me and DD like we're weirdos. For example, they would not be able to wear jeans or trousers or walk a decent stretch.

Like I don't feed her, I kid you not. Like I am a child abuser, she is just slim!

I don't live in the U.K

She doesn't need another ham sandwich and doesn't want one! (Before dinner)

HelenaDove · 03/03/2019 19:37

@BeardedMum someone i used to work with was/isvery slim. Lived on Galaxy crisps crackers cigarettes and coffee for a long time, She now has heart problems due to blocked arteries.

Still a size 8 though.

BoomBoomsCousin · 03/03/2019 19:39

With current, normal lifestyles, 2,000 - 3,000calories/day is way more than most women need to be a healthy weight.

I somewhat agree with you in that we do seem to have recalibrated our idea of a good size, but I think that's in part due to people saying things like most women should be a size 8 - 12 if they ate 2-3k a day. That's not the case now that we don't tend to spend all day on our feet , don't walk long distance and tend not to carry heavy weights that much.

Increased portion sizes and prepackaged, processed foods make it much easier to become quite large while eating a normal diet. It's not healthy though and if people want to be healthier and live a longer and mobile old age they need to change their diet and movement habits.

HelenaDove · 03/03/2019 19:39

oh and the wine She downed three big glasses of Merlot in 15 mins once we had sat down at our table at a wedding reception.

Samind · 03/03/2019 19:40

@dorsetdays. I was given a hard time for being tall at school; lanky, string bean etc etc My parents then didn't come online to a forum and call the people "midgets" or "dwarves" because they were shorter than me. They taught me to be body positive and embrace myself!!!! Doesn't mean it didn't get to me from time to time but you don't teach hate from hate and I think that's partially why it's gone over my head if I catch people looking twice at me in the street (it is my height they're looking at as they look at my feet first to see if I'm wearing heels) (either that or they don't like my shoes 😂😂)

WendyCope · 03/03/2019 19:40

DorseyDays what a kind post. Thank you for understanding. I am also from Dorset, well Clevedon, Somerset, but nearby Flowers

Ansolutely right, I have said nothing AT ALL about these bullies, nothing.

Samind · 03/03/2019 19:41

@wendycope. You're insane.

TrendyNorthLondonTeen · 03/03/2019 19:42

Translation: Even though I'm an adult it's totally okay for me to say things about these fat children, because they are fat, and thus do not have feelings, and even though they might have called my slim, healthy BMI having daughter a twilget once that is different, because she is not fat.

WendyCope · 03/03/2019 19:42

DorsetDays woops! Spanish autocorrest!

HelenaDove · 03/03/2019 19:42

@Samind i was at school with a very tall girl She was bullied constantly School did fuck all.

MotherOfDragons90 · 03/03/2019 19:43

I get you OP. I try to eat healthily and excerise regularly because being healthy is important to me, and frankly it should be important to us all. I’m a healthy size 10 with a normal BMI, but I’ve been both bigger when not looking after myself and smaller when taking diet and fitness regimes to the extreme. For MOST people, diet and exercise is all it takes to get to and maintain a healthy weight. YES, there are some exceptions but they are just that - Excetional. Most people who are overweight are so because they either overeat, eat the wrong things and don’t move enough. Including half the posters on here. I do disagree with you about the sizes, it’s possible to be a bigger range of sizes than you quote and still be healthy but I understand what you are getting at. It’s unlikely anybody who is a size 18+ is a healthy weight.

Dorsetdays · 03/03/2019 19:43

Clearly it’s also unhealthy to be underweight but no-one on here is recommending that, just that being within a normal healthy range should be the norm not the exception. No idea how anyone can possibly argue against that.

Whilst being ‘slim’ doesn’t automatically go hand in hand with being healthy there are far more risks associated with being overweight.

Samind · 03/03/2019 19:43

@helenadove. Not my issue. Nor my point. You know exactly what my point was.
