That's pretty weird - salted butter all the way!

I start eating hot cross buns from when they hit the shops. Its not weird or the shops wouldn't be selling them!

Arowana · 02/03/2019 09:14

Cheese?!? Wtf?? You weirdo Grin

Jellyfloodagain · 02/03/2019 09:15

Cheese in hot cross buns is all kinds of wrong! What kind of person are you? I have them toasted with butter.

Bubblysqueak · 02/03/2019 09:15

My DC have them with either chocolate spread or peanut butter so no I don't think cheese is odd.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 02/03/2019 09:16

Cheese is lovely in a hot cross bun.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 02/03/2019 09:17

YABU. HCB's are sweet, surely?

Shoxfordian · 02/03/2019 09:17

Oh no! I thought everyone did it...my parents did. Must be where I get it from. Just to clarify, its a cheddar or a mild cheese not roquefort or brie which would be weird

I'm eating a chocolate and caramel one so cheese would be v weird in this one! But I dont thi k it's weird in an ordinary one. I love a bit of Cheshire cheese on fruit cake.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 02/03/2019 09:19

Nothing wrong with cheese on a hot cross bun and definitely cheese with fruit cake.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 02/03/2019 09:20

Yes they’re sweet but the cheese goes lovely with them. I toast them and put slices of cheese in them. Try it.

Grumpbum123 · 02/03/2019 09:22

I have put HC buns with cheese in, into my children’s packed lunch instead of a sandwich!

Dahlietta · 02/03/2019 09:27

I'm eating a chocolate and caramel one

Those ones are as sick and wrong as eating a normal one with cheese.

AhoyDelBoy · 02/03/2019 09:30

Never heard of this in my life! I love HCB’s, I could literally eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner from Boxing Day till Easter, but just with butter. I think the chocolate ones are weird and have never tried those.

FiveLittlePigs · 02/03/2019 09:31

Damn you, I want a HCB now! Grin

MiddleClassProblem · 02/03/2019 09:32

M&S sell hot cross buns all year round so people must buy them all year round DH

AhoyDelBoy · 02/03/2019 09:33

Snap Dahlietta. Why do they have to try and reinvent the wheel with stuff like this. HCB’s are HCB’s no chocolate or caramel required! We haven’t got that flavyhere in Australia yet, that will probably be next Easter Confused

AhoyDelBoy · 02/03/2019 09:34

Flavour here
All year round!? considers moving to the UK

3out · 02/03/2019 09:35

Nothing weird with cheese and hot cross buns. It’s no different to fruit loaf or malt loaf with cheese.

Procrastination4 · 02/03/2019 09:35

Hot Cross Buns on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday only, for me! A really good independent shop with its own bakery makes them, and they are the best. Having grown up in a traditional Irish Catholic family, Ash Wednesday and Good Friday were two of my favorite times of the year-I LOVE plaice and LOVE proper hot cross buns. No chesse though! Only Kerrygold butterGrin

Procrastination4 · 02/03/2019 09:36

Favourite! Darn you, predictive text!

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 02/03/2019 09:37

It's weird. But if it helps I have family members that put cheese on malt loaf. That's also weird imo but they swear it's fab.

Procrastination4 · 02/03/2019 09:37

Argh! Cheese! Right, that’s a sign that I need to go and start my Saturday.

Warpdrive · 02/03/2019 09:37

I know someone who has cheese and jam on their hot cross bun.

Savage.

Blueuggboots · 02/03/2019 09:38

Don't knock it till you've tried it!
Cheese on hot cross buns is EPIC.

FuzzyPuffling · 02/03/2019 09:40

Cheese is good with hotXbuns. Just as cheese is good with Christmas cake. It's that "sweet and sharp" combination.

But the bun must be toasted. (DH take note)
