To think perhaps schools should insist on vaccinations.

Good animal boarding kennels etc will not take animals without their vaccinations up to date.
Should our schools be able to insist on a completed course of childhood vaccinations (up to age appropriate) before giving a space at a school? Obviously children who are unable to be vaccinated would have a medical exemption certificate. I think this would be a good idea, but then I'm wondering if this is a nanny state too far thing. Probably implications for human rights I haven't considered.

@Dutch1e Completely agree with your comments.

Please forgive me for asking a stupid question but if dogs (like mine) can have a Titer Test so they are not over vaccinated, why can't humans?

Guys, stop wasting your breath on antivaxxers...the whole point is that they’re not intelligent enough to reason with!!

Gth1234 · 05/05/2019 23:49

if foreigners cant be made to pay for NHS treatment, then it sure has hell isn't on for anyone to insist on immunisations

Oly4 · 05/05/2019 23:50

@Cath you really have no idea.
I am so pleased that people on here are tackling anti-vaxxers - a bunch of ill informed people whose “evidence” is not based on sound science

Ihatehashtags · 06/05/2019 09:03

I wish this was the case. But as per usual it’s the rights of the minority that take precedence. Idiot anti vaxers endangering others lives.

PattyCow · 06/05/2019 10:54

They absolutely should be mandatory. Just another piece of paper to submit when you apply for a school place. If you choose to not vaccinate that's your choice but it should exclude you from endangering other people's children.

Damntheman · 06/05/2019 12:16

They even had to get chickenpox vax despite having had chicken pox hmm as we couldn't prove they have had it. I'm supportive of the system Really @taytotots? My doctor wouldn't vaccine my kids for pox before they've had blood tests to make sure they haven't already had it. If we could have avoided the massive needle blood tests for a vaccine anyway I'll be raging!

Mistigri · 08/05/2019 12:10

So there’s no such thing as contagious disease then?

Cath should volunteer in Africa the next time there is an Ebola epidemic. And refuse the new vaccine, of course.

In France you can't sign up to a publicly-funded school or nursery without a complete vaccination record or a medical note. I think this is sensible. I believe they have recently added the MMR to the short list of compulsory childhood vaccinations.

In the US state I live in all schools state or private and all childcare require a certificate of vaccinations or an exemption certificate. The system works well and covers Chicago the 3rd biggest city in the USA.

ArgyMargy · 08/05/2019 14:04

Not sure the US should be held up as an example of good healthcare or concern for citizens.

dreichuplands · 08/05/2019 14:26

In terms on ensuring adequate vaccinations this State can and should be held up as a good example.
There are plenty of problems with US healthcare, this is something they have got right however.

I’m sure cathmidston would happily volunteer his/her loved ones, including children, parents, siblings or other close family members to spend time in very very close proximity with a number of people with Ebola to test her theories.
