AIBU to tell husband that if he wants to have his mum to stay every weekend he should be there?

My husband invites his mum to come and stay most weekends, but then leaves me to entertain her and goes out himself. AIBU to tell him to either stop inviting her to stay or to only invite her if he is going to be present to entertain her?

Redshoeblueshoe · 28/02/2019 20:19

I'd go out first !

AfterSchoolWorry · 28/02/2019 20:20

😳

Have you been putting up with this without saying anything?

Seriously?

IDoN0tCare · 28/02/2019 20:21

A lot of new posters on here tonight, with weird family dynamics.

theWarOnPeace · 28/02/2019 20:21

What the hell is wrong with everyone at the moment? This is bonkers on every level. Why and why and why? Why does he want her over every weekend? Why does he go out on his own every weekend? Why have you put up with it up to this point? Bonkers I tell you.

sleepylittlebunnies · 28/02/2019 20:21

It’s quite rude of him to invite her and then bugger off out. Rude to her and rude to you. He should only be inviting her when he is around, not so much to entertain her but to keep her company. Sounds like he’s relying on you to do that while being a dutiful son. What does she think about it. I think I’d be quite annoyed at my son.

WoollyMummoth · 28/02/2019 20:22

Do you really need to ask this?
I predict every response will be along the lines of if he wants her then he should be there and it is totally unreasonable to have her EVERY weekend!!!

theWarOnPeace · 28/02/2019 20:22

^^ Cross posted. I wondered if it was just me coming across all of these wierd families and pushovers.

Disfordarkchocolate · 28/02/2019 20:22

Get up early and go out first. Grin

missmouse101 · 28/02/2019 20:23

YANBU! In any way! That is completely ridiculous and it needs to be stopped right now.

StripeyDeckchair · 28/02/2019 20:23

Every weekend!
That's weird, that mean you get no free time together.

Him buggering off to do his on thing is downright rude, to you and his mum.
I'd leave the house before him and leave it to him to entertain her, what's he doing when he goes out anyway?

GregoryPeckingDuck · 28/02/2019 20:25

Just go out.

EKGEMS · 28/02/2019 20:33

My MIL EVERY weekend? Yeah that'll happen at half past never on that'll be the day!

FierceMother · 28/02/2019 20:33

YANBU!

CookPassBabtridge · 28/02/2019 20:34

Surely this is a joke...

eddielizzard · 28/02/2019 20:34

What a cheek!

earlyrisingcat · 28/02/2019 20:44

WTF? Confused

Why are you not telling him off and DEMANDING he stays in.

He invites her and then fucks off? Whaaaa?

AnyFucker · 28/02/2019 20:45

Do you have MUG stamped on your forehead ?

PippaParty · 28/02/2019 20:46

My DIL mum is at is at her (and my DS's) house everyday, usually for at least 4 hours.

gamerchick · 28/02/2019 20:47

You mean you've just been quietly sucking this up? Hmm

NancyPickford · 28/02/2019 20:51

So presumably he doesn't want his dear old mum (she may not be old, I know) not to be alone at the weekend, so he invites her to your house. But he doesn't actually think he has to entertain or host her, and that's your job somehow? Why don't you get out of the house before she arrives so he has to look after her?

BumbleBeee69 · 28/02/2019 20:52

Tell HIM to go stay with HER ?!

MrsKoala · 28/02/2019 20:52

Well. My Nan didn't come every weekend, but she came to stay about once every 6 weeks and my Dad still went out and left my Mum to entertain her. It was pretty normal for the men to go out and leave the women together and the wife to do the cooking. I doubt my Mum or Nan expected anything else. But it wouldn't be for me. I wouldn't mind an hour to pop to the gym or something but off out for hours is rude.

SpanielEars070 · 28/02/2019 20:52

More fool you.
