Aw I used to love it at my Granny's when the gravy boat arrived at the table and got passed around!
Mine is the vax carpet washer I bought forgetting we have floorboards Blush

cardibach · 28/02/2019 17:44

What will you pour gravy from? Have you thought this through?

LeggyLinda · 28/02/2019 17:46

Also, they are not compatible with my gravy - cannot get a knife in to cut yourself a slice 😜

Disfordarkchocolate · 28/02/2019 17:48

I love both of mine, little one for when there's only 2 or 3 people, the big one that does more people. I am thinking of getting an insulted gravy jug though, my MIL will love it at Christmas.

BlueJava · 28/02/2019 17:49

No! I love the gravy boat - it's huge and was 99p in Tescos at Christmas!

Crockof · 28/02/2019 17:52

Agree wtaf are you going to use, a wine glass, a bowl, bucket??? Agree with @cardibach you need to seriously consider this.

startingtolooklikemother · 28/02/2019 17:53

Since discovering frozen mash potatoes, my masher and ricer thing (that I never used) have been donated to charity.

greenelephantscarf · 28/02/2019 17:54

mostly we use chinese soup bowls (one size bigger than breakfast bowls) and a small ladle.

greenelephantscarf · 28/02/2019 17:56

there is also an electric wok which we have never used...

babycatcher411 · 28/02/2019 18:03

Agreed, never big enough! We always end up using the Pyrex measuring jug

greenelephantscarf · 28/02/2019 18:06

leggy I like your style
would a baking tray work for gravy jelly Grin

pastabest · 28/02/2019 18:07

I just pour mine straight out of the gravy pan onto the plate. Gravy pan goes back on the job to keep warm for second helpings.

Why dirty another piece of crockery unnecessarily.

whiteblankpage · 28/02/2019 18:07

We also have 2 - the gravy boat for small groups/meals and the gravy aircraft carrier for big affairs 😁
I fill mine with hot water for ten minutes before I need to pour in the gravy, warms it up lovely and keeps the gravy hot.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 28/02/2019 18:08

Spoon rest, anybody?

If you can't or don't want to use the plate that you'll be eating off to park the spoon whilst preparing the meal, why not just grab a side plate, which is also useful for various other purposes?

Why go to the hassle of owning and storing something of such limited functionality?

FloralTeacup · 28/02/2019 18:09

Pyrex jug all the way!

iklboo · 28/02/2019 18:09

The bloody spiraliser DH got suckered into buying.

User5trillion · 28/02/2019 18:09

We have 2 gravy boats thus solving the at the wrong end of the table dilemma and solving the capacity issueGrin felt like a proper grown up buying one from the charity shop. Admittedly one pours really badly though.

BiglyBadgers · 28/02/2019 18:09

I just use a pyrex pint sized measuring jug for gravy. I have no idea what's happened to the gravy boat now you mention it. I'm sure we have one somewhere.

greenelephantscarf · 28/02/2019 18:11

pint size is waaaayyyyy too small for us

Strugglingtodomybest · 28/02/2019 18:11

Definitely my ironing board, which is currently residing in the attic.

I have a gravy jug...

TitsAndTomatoes · 28/02/2019 18:11

Electric wok? Electric? Wok?
What?!

(Also a gravy boat is ome of the first things i bought for my kitchen. First whinge glasses. Then gravy boat. Then Cutlery. Priorities lol)

TitsAndTomatoes · 28/02/2019 18:12

**WINE !!! Wine glasses not whinge glasses lol

Ironfloor269 · 28/02/2019 18:13

Vax steam mop. It's alright but doesn't do anything more than what the conventional mop and squeeze bucket doesn't. And it's a pain to always make sure there's enough Vax detergent around, because you can't put any other detergent in it.

dudsville · 28/02/2019 18:15

I second the spoon rest. It's been refunctioned as the place to put tea bags.

Jsmith99 · 28/02/2019 18:22

The egg slicer and its cousin the fruit slicer/corer. Just use a knife, ffs.
