I would never actually do this of course but since being able to drive, I've made efforts to be a patient, understandable driver as I remember how nerve-wracking it could be to be a learner etc but there are some things people do on the road that just irritate me so much!!!

The main one I'm talking about is when pulling up to a junction, those who are turning right stay smack bang in the middle of the road and don't allow any room for a car turning left to position themselves at the junction!!

I've noticed this a few times at a junction near to where I live. If you're turning left it's usually quite quiet and plenty of opportunities to go but if you're turning right there can be a lot of cars coming. This means the person sat waiting to go right is there for a while and the poor person wanting to go left could've just gone if only the first car had positioned themselves correctly!!! Sorry if I'm not making any sense LOL. Of course if someone's car is too big to allow for another car to pass by the side of it or there isn't enough room at the junction that's different!

What are your guys driving/parking gripes other than the usual middle lane hoggers?!

Fair enough. But it's clearly problematic, with the amount of traffic on the roads these days and people in such a rush more and more accidents happen.

Patience is key when driving and wanting to ram cars out of the way after only a year of driving is a road rage disaster waiting to happen

People who don't use merge lanes then get annoyed when you use the lanes EXACTLY AS INTENDED. They're then fuming that you've "cut the queue" - you're supposed to zip at the end!

Infuriates me, especially when the one lane is backing all the way up to a roundabout and there's an empty lane next to it!

In a similar vein - people who don't pull to the white line when turning right into a side road, thus preventing people continuing on the main road from passing them on the left. Argh!

I hate people who try and squeeze into a queue of traffic having speeded along in the wrong lane before pulling in. If it's a road I know, i.e. one where this happens all the time, I always keep right up to the car in front so there's no way they can fit in. Tossers 😠

Seeline the highway code was written when people had manners.
And Shpoot is right.

Also, op, if you want to ram people with your car then perhaps driving ( which to do well takes calm and patience) isn't for you.

In a similar vein to OP's gripe, drivers who don't realise that they CAN enter a yellow hatched box area at a crossroads IF they are turning right. The hatch is there to stop drivers queuing straight across it and blocking a junction. So many drivers hang back when turning right thinking they can't enter this hatched area and thereby hold up motorists behind them also wishing to turn right on that set of lights.

I'd love to get out and punch them right in the face.

As a pedestrian - drivers who stop for you when THEIR side of the road has no traffic behind them - but the other side has oncoming traffic. I hate them expectantly waving at me when actually I had no problem waiting a few seconds til both sides of the road are clear.

As a driver, if there's no traffic behind me, I won't stop for someone - in fact, the highway code suggests you shouldn't encourage pedestrians to cross this way.

As a driver and homeowner - the thick people who queue up for the lights in front of my house when I'm on the opposite side of the road indicating ready to drive on. They could easily leave a gap for me to nip through whilst they're waiting for the lights, but 9/10 they aggressively hug bumpers to prevent me doing so! No idea why.

People who inch out over the line at roundabouts because they are too impatient to wait for a gap - saw a van do this this morning, his whole van was sitting over the line and getting in the way of oncoming traffic. Dickhead.

Bloody hell OP. If you have this latent violence after only one year's driving, are you cut out to be on the road. Driving is about sharing space and remaining calm. And knowing you are not perfect yourself.

And on all of this stuff, can you imagine what it's like to try to share a road with your fellow drivers, when you are actually on a bike with all of those vulnerabilities?

Since some of you (me included) detest queue jumpers here is a tale that might interest you that happened just at the end of my road.... there were temporary traffic lights because the road was being dug up for gas works and therefore there was a long queue of traffic. An impatient young man in a ford fiesta decided he was more important than everybody else and proceeded to drive on the wrong side of the road to jump the queue, found he had nowhere to go and actually ended up down the 7 foot deep hole - the gas works - his car bonnet nose down and the rear of the car sticking vertically out. Thank god he didn't kill anybody. I came home to find police and fire engines everywhere. What a bloody idiot. It made the papers.

DoJo · 25/02/2019 10:54

But if they allow cars to come alongside them to the left then they can't safely see the traffic coming and will end up say there longer.

But someone turning left is more likely to be able to pull out before someone turning right who needs to wait until both lanes are clear to turn. And if the person turning left doesn't pull out, I'd assume that you won't be able to cross the lane even if there was no traffic coming from the left as if there was a gap big enough in the traffic coming from the right, they would be in it.

People who cut corners when turning right, especially when turning into our road when I'm approaching the exit. Nearly had a smash with one of these brainless idiots.

People who drive into 'keep clear' boxes before their exit is clear.

People in traffic jams who don't have the basic courtesy/common sense to leave the entrances to side roads clear, so that traffic builds up on the other side, too.

People who drive FAR TOO CLOSE! anywhere, but particularly on motorways. I. swear it causes as many accidents/pile ups as speeding, if not more. I once missed just such a pile up by a minute hair's breadth - caused entirely by idiots driving too fast and far too close in wet conditions.

Why we don't automatically have lower speed limits in wet conditions, like they do in France, I don't know. I know some twats and boy-racer idiots will always ignore such things anyway, but it might help.

Sorry but one of my bugbears when driving is when people come up the left of me when I'm turning right at certain junctions! Most junctions where I live it's fine but there is the odd turning where it's really hard to see, made even worse when someone in a car 3x the size of mine comes up to turn left and I then can't go because surprisingly I don't have x-ray vision and can't see through their vehicle. It's inconsiderate and just holds everyone up further than if they had just waited until I was gone.

Another gripe of mine is people who undertake on the dual-carriageway, that really gets on my tits. So dangerous and completely unnecessary especially when they then have to dart out in front of the person in the fast lane to avoid careering right into the vehicle they're away to overtake! Angry

People who turn perpendicular across a designated turn/filter lane to turn off (see my amazing graphical representation attached).

Why can't they just slide into the lane parallel with the lanes instead of blocking one or both sides?

to want to ram these people out of the way with my car??!!

ex. approach roundabout. pick wrong lane, swap to right lane on roundabout without incdicating, swap back to wrong lane as leave roundabout, also without indicating, then have to swap lanes further up the sodding road. ALL. IN. MY. CAR

then he gets the arse when I tell him in advance which lanes he will need.

I'm struggling to think at what kind of junction this would be an issue, as it doesn't apply where there are traffic lights, roundabouts of four-way stops (which I'm not sure exist here anyway.) I guess turning onto a busy main road where only traffic on the side road needs to stop? But the person next to you would turn left when the road was clear on the right, so maybe only when they are going straight across? But I struggle to think of a side-road that has a straight-across option and nothing controlling cars on the main road.

Yes, @IamARocketMan.

Most junctions around me (not traffic lights, just pulling out of side streets I will pull right up to the white line on the right to turn right, but obviously without going over and blocking the flow of traffic I need to pull out into. Then some twat in huge car will some how decide s/he wants to go left, pull up next me, and pull out further than me. I cannot now see through that fucking car so I can't go until he goes.

There is a mini-roundabout in a supermarket near me, where you come in from 12'o'clock, the car parks are at 3 and 6; and the fuel station is at 9 (see another amazing artwork attached).

SO MANY PEOPLE come wanging merrily down the road and then go directly from 12 > fuel station/9, even when cars are joining or already on the bloody roundabout!
