My DD pointing at the candy floss.

What's your best "wrong name" story?

OP posts:
KipperTheFrog · 22/02/2019 07:43

Pins and needles are Peas and Noodles in this house.
Ambulances are now amblyances.
DD1 aged 2 used to ask for toast thats not been cooked instead of bread.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 22/02/2019 07:44

Ds2 used to call caterpillars paterlillars. I was actually quite sad when he learned to say it properly.

dancinfeet · 22/02/2019 07:51

My youngest daughter always used to shriek and hop around saying she had crumbs in her socks (pins and needles). Eldest used to call them needles and peedles when she was little. Hot dogs were Oh Gods and Harry Potter was Harry Pottermus.

icanthelpyou · 22/02/2019 07:56

Window potatoes - waffles

22Giraffes · 22/02/2019 08:46

Just remembered ds once called a pair of his pants a willy coat! So funny Grin

These are all brilliant

crispysausagerolls · 22/02/2019 08:51

Austrian friend who calls a bruise a “blue stain”

Disclaimer: she is in her 20s but it’s adorable

Lifeonmars77 · 22/02/2019 09:46

My DS used to call a cucumber a cucabumber.

It was a sad day when he learnt to say it properly. We do refuse to let go though and still call it that occasionally Smile

Lemontwist · 22/02/2019 09:56

I love all these. Blueberries are forever loobies in our house thanks to DS.
Can't wait for DD to start to talk Smile

PosiePerkinandPootle · 22/02/2019 10:05

DS is a bit of a Star Wars geek (I am def not) when he was little I didn't realise that the droids were not really called Roger Rogers, which is how he referred to them (I'm assuming because there was a lot of talk over radios). Anyway he was watching an episode one day and I said "here come the Roger Rogers" and couldn't understand why DH and older DD were pissing themselves laughing at me. But they are still the Roger Rogers in our house so I was right
Similarly he once had an "orange tummy" after getting d&v after eating an orange (then refused to eat oranges for years and for a short while anything orange coloured) just in case it made his tummy orange again. So 10 years later we have had many cases of orange tummy in the family.

IslaMann · 22/02/2019 11:33

Cumber = cucumber
Upbrella = umbrella
Munchmelons = marshmallows
Roof up = hood up on coat

My 3yo DD is adorable (sometimes)

RolaColaAllTheWay · 22/02/2019 11:36

Blo(o)dy Botion

My DD when she was 3. She meant Body Lotion.

braveasweare · 22/02/2019 11:51

I used to call Robbie Williams "Wobbly Williams" as a child!

braveasweare · 22/02/2019 11:54

Also used think a round of applause was pronounced "round of a-claws" and used to put my claws up and do circular motions. I can remember thinking I was so clever for thinking of that oh dear!!!

Aeroplane was pronounced air-la-plane!

VeniVidiViciTwice · 22/02/2019 11:56

When legs on pjs/onsie ride up in bed she asks for help pulling her leg sleeves up (she has her legs pointing up at you hence up not down!)

EstrellaDamn · 22/02/2019 11:57

When he was 4, DS thought that the Premier Inn near us was called the Night Night Moon.

I miss that. Sad

Whiskeyqueen2457 · 22/02/2019 11:57

Ds2 calls reindeers radiators, gets pandas confused with penguins and for some reason calls his cheeks his 'benders' and I'll always remember the time he said he wanted some cockporn (popcorn) 😂

whatsleep · 22/02/2019 11:58

Arse mellows (marshmallows). Twirlnado (when the bath water spirals in the plughole)

Theonewiththecat · 22/02/2019 12:05

Dd now 9- used to call her nostrils snorkels 'muuum, one of my snorkels is blocked'
She used to play snookel not snooker.

Recently too recently we were walking to school and she whispered 'look mum, a bell sprout' my reply 'that's a snowdrop not a Pokemon you silly sausage' cue lots of giggling and 'oh my god, i cant believe i said that don't tell dad 😂'

NightIbble · 22/02/2019 12:13

We have Woolies for sheep, bum bees for farts and my BIL when small and asked a question that 'I don't sure' which I love!

SallyWD · 22/02/2019 12:16

My son saw a sausage dog and said "Look mummy, a hot dog!"

itbemay1 · 22/02/2019 12:24

@Justyou we call it 'the box' Smile

yodelsay · 22/02/2019 12:26

My DS used to say 'head egg' instead of headache!!

MongerTruffle · 22/02/2019 12:28

It is a real word, but the best word is:

Créée

It means "created" in French.
It looks like it shouldn't be a real word.

Or is this the best word ever?!
Fozzleyplum · 22/02/2019 12:31

DS2 has always referred to Clarks shoe show as "Clanks" because he read the 'r' on the shop sign as an 'n'. The name has stuck.

kateandme · 22/02/2019 12:33

Tunnels were rin rin rin because all theyd ever heard was the tunnel game of holding ur breath " weeeee're in we're in rin rin rin"
