I realise this is probably down to the child more than the parent...but I'm terrified I might be running out of hugging time with mine - so please reassure me that even teenagers need a hug sometimes!

I'm really glad that people think you can build hugging in when young...it makes me think the effort of converting DD to being a hugger was worth it.

bert now that is spectacularly well done!

Mine are fully grown adults and still like an occasional cuddle. DS went from being a full on cuddle monster to being a bit reluctant in his teens but now when he's here for the weekend will sidle up to me while watching tv and I stroke his hair!

DareDevil223 · 21/02/2019 15:53

My 24 year old DS loves a hug. He's coming to stay for the weekend and I'm looking forward to some cuddles . Even 6ft 3 grown men need their mums Smile

Both my parents are gone now but we are a very affectionate family and they always hugged and kissed me.

ShesAnEasyLlama · 21/02/2019 16:00

My DS has ASD, so hugs are purely on his terms BUT he still enjoys a good cuddle a few times a week at nearly 12.

I'm 37 and still have proper cuddles with my Mum whenever I see her.

Debfronut · 21/02/2019 16:03

Mine are 27 16 and 14 and no one has stopped cuddling me or hugging me yet

Keepithidden · 21/02/2019 16:04

41 here and I still hug my dad, he's 82! I hugged my mum until she passed away at 75 too.

sunshineandshowers21 · 21/02/2019 16:05

i’m 27 and i love a cuddle with my mama! my mum also still cuddles her mum and she’s 42. we’re a very lovey family!

oh4forkssake · 21/02/2019 16:07

I’m 41 and still hug my Mum and Dad!

My 5 & 6 year old are constantly cuddled. And will be for as long as I can get away with. I suspect that will be longer with the five year old. She likes a good cuddle.

havingtochangeusernameagain · 21/02/2019 16:07

Not yet and my ds is 16. As long as it's not in public, naturally.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 21/02/2019 16:08

I think the last time my mother hugged me was when I was 4 and had the measles. So with my boys I tried to do better, and they all still ask for hugs every day, several times each. The oldest is 17 and the youngest is 6.

foxyknoxy30 · 21/02/2019 16:09

Nope hopefully never will ,mine are 15 and 12

Amoregentlemanlikemanner · 21/02/2019 16:19

lovely xx

pleased for you OP (SN here too).

Springwalk · 21/02/2019 16:20

I still hug away, my teens love a big bear hug even if they say they don’t! Smile

CarolDanvers · 21/02/2019 16:20

Not yet and they’re 16 and 12.

LondonJax · 21/02/2019 16:22

My mum is 89 and has dementia - she still loves a good hug though! I think me and my 2 DSis's always gave our DM and DF a hug when we came in from work. It was just 'what was done'.

I give DH a hug when he gets home from work and I expect I'll do the same for DS when he goes out to work so I don't expect that to change.

My DSis's are always giving their kids hugs or getting one themselves and their kids range from 33 years old down to 14 years old. I think, if it's considered the norm in the family, hugs don't really ever stop.

BigusBumus · 21/02/2019 16:22

Sadly my oldest 2 boys rarely hug me now, the oldest one will hug me occasionally, about once a month? The middle one pretty much never since the age of about 10. Sad
My youngest boy is nearly 13 and will hug me multiple times a day and still kisses me on the lips, bless him.

Metalhead · 21/02/2019 16:23

Sadly, my 8 year old only comes for a cuddle probably once a week... Thankfully I still have a 3 year old who loves nothing more than a mummy cuddle! Smile

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 21/02/2019 16:26

Currently sharing the sofa with my 17 yr old daughter who has her head on my shoulder as she scrolls through her phone.

Oldest son is 30 and never arrives or leaves without hugging me, his dad and his grandma.

IHeartKingThistle · 21/02/2019 16:37

My DD was not a cuddly baby either OP, but has got more affectionate over time. Regularly comes for hugs now and she's 12 and 5 foot 8!

threesenoughthanks · 21/02/2019 16:42

Like a few pp's I wasn't hugged or kissed growing up. I remember my mum saying she finds it hard to be demonstrative as she wasn't shown affection by her parents. Erm....what bollocks! Her mum didn't hug her so she can't hug me and so on and so on.
I made sure I hugged and kissed my three dd's every day and guess what it wasn't difficult. We still enjoy our cuddle sessions and they are 13, 15 and 17.

AvoidingMarking · 21/02/2019 16:44

I'm 35 have two children, a house and I still cuddle up to my dad when we visit and he always reaches for my hand when we are walking somewhere!

AlbertWinestein · 21/02/2019 16:51

Never! Still bug my parents and still hug my teenage and older kids.

AlbertWinestein · 21/02/2019 16:52

I still HUG my parents. I probably bug them too but that would be a whole other thread.

Faultymain5 · 21/02/2019 16:59

16 hugs more now than at 10.

10 has always loved the connection and still hugs.
