I realise this is probably down to the child more than the parent...but I'm terrified I might be running out of hugging time with mine - so please reassure me that even teenagers need a hug sometimes!

As soon as I was old enough to say no. I have always hated being cuddled/hug by my parents/ people in general. My kids are v huggy so I hug them loads

M3lon · 21/02/2019 15:10

fussy ahh the infamous 'middle hug' maybe?

Oh and I used to hug my parents all the time. My dad had the unfortunate habit of hugging my face pushing my earrings into my head. Perhaps he didn't like all that hugging afterallGrin

cstaff · 21/02/2019 15:11

Me and my brothers and sister area all in our 50's and still hug and kiss our parents. Never grew out of it - we may have tried to pull away in our teens to "try and be cool" but that didn't last very long.

KittyVonCatsworth · 21/02/2019 15:12

Never! My DSD still loves snuggles and hugs so we cuddle in whenever she's here. She's 19. My DD is a little more standoffish wrt personal space, even with me but we still hug when we see each other, not so much of the cuddling in but she's never been a cuddly person.

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 21/02/2019 15:13

DD is 12 and still cuddles up to watch films and gives me a hug in the morning and on her way out the door every time she goes out. DS is almost 14 and doesn't do hugs any more. He will always poke his head around the door at night to say goodnight and tell me he loves me though. I'm happy with that!

Adultsahouldeatrusks · 21/02/2019 15:14

Never

notacooldad · 21/02/2019 15:14

Eldest son is 23 and youngest son is 19.
None if us leave the house for the day without a hug and a ' bye mate, love you' to them!
Rightly or wrongly I've drilled it into them not to leave the house without love because you never know what is going to happen in the next few hours.

artisticpiles · 21/02/2019 15:15

My youngest is 20 soon, and I still get hugs and cuddles Smile

I also get made endless cups of tea, and occasionally I'm treated to a shoulder massage as well.

whyayepetal · 21/02/2019 15:17

I'm another one that was never kissed/cuddled as a child, and didn't want the same "coldness" for my DDs. Happy to report that at 20 and 18, they still like the occasional snuggle!

Lunde · 21/02/2019 15:17

Not yet - they are 23 and 20

FurrySlipperBoots · 21/02/2019 15:18

I want to cuddle my mum all the time, but she doesn't. She's absolutely lovely in so many other ways but is just not a 'huggy' person at all. It always made me sad, and still does - I'm 30!

ArmchairTraveller · 21/02/2019 15:19

Not yet, 24 and 28, one of each. DS more huggy.

Millimollimandi · 21/02/2019 15:19

I still hug my two - 23 and 29 - mind you that is just to annoy them really Grin

Lllot5 · 21/02/2019 15:20

Not yet. 38,37,32,29 still hugging.

Fartingisfun · 21/02/2019 15:21

Mine are 17 & 18 and god I hope the hugs and cuddles never stop.

HappydaysArehere · 21/02/2019 15:21

I’m still kissing and hugging and they are in their fifties.

Fiveredbricks · 21/02/2019 15:23

I think I just realised my Mum was not a huggy person with us at all as kids. I remember hugging my Dad or sitting on his knee once or twice. Also remember hugging the dog a lot when we got one and it always slept in my bed. Clearly I was making up for lack of contact somewhere. I'm really sad typing this up now but also very glad I hug my ds for hours every day.

RuthW · 21/02/2019 15:23

Still hug my dd. She's 22.

lastqueenofscotland · 21/02/2019 15:24

Depends on the child. I don’t really like a lot of physical contact now and was the same as a child 🤷🏻‍♀️

BettyDuMonde · 21/02/2019 15:24

My 18 year old son will still hold my hand to cross a road 😂

TheOrigFV45 · 21/02/2019 15:27

DS19 will still hug me.

DS9 still wants to sit on my lap when I'm sitting on the beanbag - he's too big, but still tries it on anyway.

Never too old for a hug.

DarklyDreamingDexter · 21/02/2019 15:27

Never! still hugging my young adult children here. They also hug me. My son (19) sometimes comes in for a hug saying "Giving me some sugarrrrr!"😀

Daisymay2 · 21/02/2019 15:29

2 DS- 26 and 22- both hug their dad and each other and cuddle me.

Malibucyprus · 21/02/2019 15:29

My DD’s are 14 & 11, I always kiss goodbye and goodnight, every now n then the oldest will come n lean her head against me when I’m in the kitchen, which I now know is her sign for wanting a cuddle. 11 year old has a cuddle every morning, she’s one of those people that need waking up verrrrry gently, so still have to pull her into a hug to avoid a strop.

My DM is not a hugger, at all, cannot remember her cuddling me as a child, I don’t want mine to say that about me, so they’ll get their munchies for as long as they want them 🤗
