AIBU to say the washing sheets/towels and toilet brushes argument may have been solved...?

Saw this today and immediately thought of all the arguments on here over the years about washing towels, bed sheets and the horror of toilet brushes! Grin

I'm definitely more dirty than the cleaners verdicts!

That’s because ‘I’m not racist but.....’ is the most common example.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/02/2019 12:34

Not in my world. Maybe you know lots of racists.

ChesterGreySideboard · 22/02/2019 12:44

So you are saying all my friends are racists.
Nice leap of logic there.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2019 12:58

I agree with Chester 'I'm not racist but ...' is the most common example. No-one is saying you are a racist or that you are as low morally as a racist.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/02/2019 12:58

Don’t worry, I’m an insane neurotic nutter germaphobe carrying out child abuse through the medium of clean towels. You’re really not doing too bad Wink

woollyheart · 22/02/2019 13:15

Maybe ds could dry himself with a face flannel to help cut down washing more?

I knew someone who said she had 3 washing machines- now I know why!

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/02/2019 13:35

Whatever works for your DS woolly.

I have one washing machine hth.

BertyFlanter · 22/02/2019 13:55

@ILoveMaxiBondi I rtft last night but was too tired to comment. I'm glad it's still active so I can say how brilliantly you handled yourself. Some of the comments were low blows, and some just bat shit crazy! Yet you continued on with humour, grace and intelligence.
I for one wish you many a happy day washing towels, no matter how tiny they may be Thanks

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 22/02/2019 13:55

Do you know, I read the article in the OP and immediately thought, 'Gosh, that would cause a bit of a bun-fight on MN' - but never in a million years would I have imagined the wild swerves that this thread has taken... Shock
For what it's worth Maxi I (too) disagree with your towel use - but you've had an awful pasting on here, and it's been mostly totally undeserved Flowers

PortiaCastis · 22/02/2019 14:08

This thread is hysterically funny

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/02/2019 14:11

Thank you both.

I have no idea what it is about the frequency of washing towels on MN but it is a 100% guaranteed bunfight as soon as someone mentions it. I don’t get it.

Dexra · 22/02/2019 14:14

I think my favourite twist is where Christianity makes its entrance on page 10, and we got to think about whether Jesus would approve of towels being washed daily. Bonkers.

ChesterGreySideboard · 22/02/2019 14:33

Before you wash a towel think ‘what would Jesus do?’

Dexra · 22/02/2019 14:41

The dude could turn water into wine, feed thousands with a few loaves and fishes, and rise from the dead. I imagine inventing a washing machine, detergent and fabric conditioner that didn't ravage the world some more wouldn't be beyond his capabilities.

reallybadidea · 22/02/2019 14:48

I bet Jesus wouldn't be drying himself with a towel after a shower anyway - probably the gentle fluttering of angel wings would allow evaporation of moisture without any harmful effects on the environment at all.

Dexra · 22/02/2019 15:05

reallybadidea
And thus begins the metoo movement among the angels. Jesus emerging steamy and naked from the shower and demanding his employees flap about him. That's can't be far off sending your PA to buy you a sex toy.

woollyheart · 22/02/2019 15:06

I am surprised that nobody has mentioned the fire risk associated with washing machines. 🔥

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/02/2019 15:06

😂😂😂 dexra & really

reallybadidea · 22/02/2019 15:21

I’m must be a filthy minger then. Bath towels get used for about a week then dumped in a towel pile for washing til I’ve a full load. I’m the only adult. Kids have their own towels but only actually bath at mine once a week due to living with dad too and the other bath night falls after swimming so swimming kit is separate and gets washed after each use. Hand towels get used many times. My biggest bugbear is one of my children insists on wiping her toothpaste face with a towel and not washing her face properly after cleaning teeth. That renders the towel in need of more frequent washing. We are out the majority of the week at work and school from quite early til quite late so the bathroom isn’t used loads!! Again, mostly me as the kids are there part time.

As for beds. I’ve just stripped the kids bed. 1st time since Christmas for eldest. She sleeps in it 3-4 nights per week. It’s a high sleeper bed so a pain to get up and strip. Youngest has had hers washed an extra time due to a vomiting bug. They both wear pyjamas which are changed daily (their choice not mine). As for mine, can’t quite remember!! Lol. It’s just me and I wear pyjamas. I change them regularly. It’s a king size bed and a nightmare to wash and dry and get the bedding back on. Summer gets done more often when I can hang them out. I don’t have a dryer. I have a combi washer/dryer so only tumble dry underwear and towels and then bedding in the winter.

celticprincess · 22/02/2019 18:09

And the swimming comment meant that the kids shower and wash their hair at the pool so it’s their separate swimming towel that gets washed after use. Mostly due to me washing the costumes as I hate the smell of chlorine and don’t want them fading as quickly. They tend to stand the towels in the dirty floors when getting their feet dried so feel they DO need a wash.

Palaver1 · 22/02/2019 18:24

So blessed we have clean running water to waste and electricity as well
If we were handwashing I wonder if there would be such wastage

PalmTree101 · 22/02/2019 18:28

Have to agree with Berty that @ILoveMaxiBondi has been a great poster on this thread and has responded in very good humor. High five!

DeniseRoyal · 22/02/2019 18:28

I read the article the other day, and it made me realise how scummy I am. I change the beds once a fortnight, and i use my towels for a week (hung up to dry after every use) I already seen to have mountains of laundry without washing endless fucking towels and bedding Hmm

NoIsACompleteAnswerSometimes · 22/02/2019 18:29

Just for the purposes of research, I'll try drying myself with a hand towel after showering tomorrow. I'll report back!
