Saw this today and immediately thought of all the arguments on here over the years about washing towels, bed sheets and the horror of toilet brushes! Grin

I'm definitely more dirty than the cleaners verdicts!

'I'm not a germaphobe but....', is kinda the equivalent to 'I'm not a racist but'....face it, if you wash towels after every use you're a germaphobe

IncrediblySadToo · 21/02/2019 22:30

These threads are reliably hilarious.

Bringing god into it always adds that special something I feel.

Nomdejeur · 21/02/2019 22:33

This thread has made me realise how many bonkers people are out there! It has really opened my eyes, totally bizarre!

ILoveMaxiBondi · 21/02/2019 22:33

Thanks incredibly

face it, if you wash towels after every use you're a germaphobe

^official diagnosis right there. Grin I reckon that’s excatly what the GP will say when I tell her I was towels daily. She’ll recognise the symptoms immediately and cry “you’re a germaphobe!”

Which is absolutely nothing at all like being a fucking racist for crying out loud. Hmm What is wrong with you?

LightAsTheBreeze · 21/02/2019 22:38

The mould thing is a just a fact it does mot mean that I am a nutter, I am just stating a fact

LightAsTheBreeze · 21/02/2019 22:38

Not

AntoinetteOuradi · 21/02/2019 22:54

Now that someone has declared that God is interested in towels, I'm formally seeking an alliance with @ILoveMaxBondi. We may not agree on towel usage (in fact, we would radically disagree), but I'd rather have a chum with a sense of humour any day.

Before this thread turns even nastier to Maxi let's please leave it here.
Otherwise I'll pray to St Anthony to find a load of spiders to dark everyone's washing Smile

Tonsilss · 21/02/2019 23:19

I've been washing towels only very occasionally for the past few decades and it has never made me or my children ill. What are people frightened of??!!

LaurenOrdering · 22/02/2019 00:03

All this talk of laundry is making me confused as there is another thread I'm on about an ironing board that has vanished into thin air : www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3513499-AIBU-to-ask-you-to-explain-missing-ironing-board?pg=1&order=

Posters have suggested that the op pray to St Anthony to find her lost ironing board. Hence me mentioning him on here.

NorthernChinchilla · 22/02/2019 00:12

Nah, sorry, washing after every use is neurotic and wasteful. No benefits whatsoever- cos if there were, loads of us on this thread would be dead from under washing, as it were.
It's your preference, fine, but it's unnecessary and environmentally unfriendly.

Biancadelrioisback · 22/02/2019 08:10

@ILoveMaxBondi round of applause for you! You've handled yourself brilliantly. Like pp says, we drastically disagree on towel usage but you've made several very well made points and inspired me to wash my towels last night

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/02/2019 08:55

Grin thank you bianca.

and inspired me to wash my towels last night

my plan for world domination begins to take shape.

Northern I will give you wasteful, unnecessary and environmentally unfriendly (so are your laundry habits BTW, whatever they are) but neurotic? No.

thecatsthecats · 22/02/2019 09:25

I quite like the idea of only drying off with a handtowel if it weren't for my hair.

I sit on the jacuzzi seat in the bath after the shower as it is for a couple of minutes, and think a handtowel would take off the rest just fine (I like to airdry on the bed in summer).

But then I have taken the environmental step recently of stopping using soap or shower gel, so I'll probably get burned as a witch.

(For those curious, my routine is shampoo and conditioner in the shower, with face scrub 2-3 times a week. I use hand soap still, and deodorant, but in the shower just give myself a good scrub with a flannel soapless. No smell, no dirt, and no suds down the drain.)

Tonsilss · 22/02/2019 09:44

Yet again we hear the "You don't live in a Yurt, walk everywhere and wash in the river so you can't criticise my washing my towels every day" argument. If you can call it an argument. The OP obviously doesn't give a toss about the environment and, yes, is neurotic about hygiene. And why she uses a full size towel but won't allow a teenager to deserves a while other thread. I predict some interesting family dynamics in the future.

Sweetpea55 · 22/02/2019 09:48

Demented pixie..... Exactly..

Dexra · 22/02/2019 09:49

What the hell are you on about, tonsilss?

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/02/2019 09:57

I think tonsils is a bit confused.

ineedaholidaynow · 22/02/2019 09:58

Tonsilss it’s not the OP that uses hand towels it is another poster, and to be fair to her she practices what she preaches so uses a hand towel as well, not just her children.

Vulpine · 22/02/2019 10:35

Ilovemaxi - I never said it was like being a racist. You misread my post.

MammaSchwifty · 22/02/2019 10:38

Reading comprehension, C-

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/02/2019 12:18

You likened someone (me!) saying they weren’t a germaphobe to someone who is a racist. That’s nasty.

ChesterGreySideboard · 22/02/2019 12:21

What they meant is when people say ‘I’m not x but.......’ followed by an example of the very thing they said they weren’t.
I’m not being funny but......
I’m not afraid of spiders but......
I’m not a clean freak but...........

They weren’t likening towel washing to racism.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 22/02/2019 12:25

Chester I know exactly what they meant, and they could have used any of those phrases you used and more but no, they chose to liken it to being a racist. Low.
