Name changed as outing.

We have saved so hard for this new bathroom. We have reconfigured it and had everything new. Stripped to bare brick.

I really don't like it :-(

We still want to put a shelf up behind the toilet with some nice things on, and a towel storer where 3 towels will be rolled up at once in there.

Please be honest. Be as brutal as needed. I want to change the paint I think but no idea what to. We need to get a blind. What else can I do to make this the dream bathroom I envisaged Blush

I would put a wallpaper tile the whole up behind bath. We have recently done this.

llizzie · 23/02/2019 18:19

Behind the toilet is the last place for a shelf. It would have to be a very narrow one, high enough above the cistern for repairs to be made which would not hold much. There is too the danger of things falling off and into the loo when someone leaves the lid up.

CharlyAngelic · 23/02/2019 18:25

Not RTFT , but it needs some colour splashes .
You also need toilet paper.

Letthemysterybe · 23/02/2019 18:34

Too many posts for me to read all of them but I would....

Half tile behind the loo to the same height as the bath.
Paint in a less creamy shade.
Shutter style Blind up at the window.
Put in the finishing touches - nice towels etc

Wow 34 pages I had stopped reading at 21, thought that was the end... and have just read the rest with my Mcdonalds. Great thread op.

The OP"s bathroom will be stunning once she's implemented all the great advice - unfortunately though she won't manage to even get in the door!!

salkini · 25/02/2019 08:54

You need to go dark grey an the walls and fill it with plants OR find a crazy ass jungle wallpaper. Are you on insta? Go look at @oxfordone her bathrooms are the bomb xx

DaphneduM · 25/02/2019 09:20

I think the fittings are lovely, and indeed it's so similar to my bathroom that cost a lot of money as we had to have the floor filled in from a sunken bath!!! It just needs styling to add a bit of colour - a big statement green plant and emerald green towels would do it, I would have thought. In my similar bathroom to you, we've got one completely exposed stone wall, and the rest are tiled a very pale grey, as well as the floor - grey - shock horror!!! I can then change the towels to add colour as I fancy. I love mine, and you will love yours once you've added lovely bits and pieces.

GinandGingerBeer · 25/02/2019 10:02

Some great ideas on here. I'm marking my place for reference. Smile
Can't wait to see your revamped version op.

LovelyIssues · 28/02/2019 12:11

looks lovely and fresh, just need some colour and accessories

Lizsul · 08/03/2019 06:34

Flowers it’s lovely, very sleek and modern but not too modern it’s space age !!
I agree with most people it simply needs your extra touches, a bit of colour perhaps in the blind and towels.
The sink in perfect as is xxx

craftingqueen · 08/03/2019 06:56

It's lovely, just really bare at the moment! Paint walls, add blind, put up some nice shelves etc

Magnolia always makes me feel a bit depressed so maybe it has the same affect on you! It's a beautiful bathroom, honestly

Bagpuss5 · 08/03/2019 07:09

Oh, I thought the OP had come back with pics of the updated bathroom!

SatsumaFan · 08/03/2019 16:11

Come back with some progress photos please OP?! Smile

NaturWilde · 10/04/2019 14:25

@Canyoutellwhoiamyet did the OP come back with progress photos anywhere?

Motoko · 10/04/2019 19:02

@Canyoutellwhoiamyet have you finished it yet?

I only saw this thread today, read a lot of it, and all OP's posts, and when I started reading, and saw when OP originally posted this thread, I hoped she'd updated it.

I would have gone with a sage green on the walls, and either wooden Venetian blinds, or white plantation shutters. I would pick up the wood effect on the floor, in some shelving and storage, and have a few plants, including a large floor standing plant (or a medium one on a plant stand, to raise the height) at the end of the bath.

Also, one poster mentioned plants being so 70s, well, they've actually been very popular for at least the last 5 years. The "Jungalow" look is all over Instagram and Pintrest, as well as there being several interior design books focussing on indoor plants. Macramé plant pot hangers are in vogue too!

jinglet · 03/05/2019 22:53

Can we have an updated picture please @OP? Would love to see any changes.

Duster12 · 03/05/2019 22:57

Think the jungalow style is a bit passe now..

Boneshere · 03/05/2019 23:29

It's the magnolia walls, it isn't 2002! Beautiful bathroom, but it needs grey or navy walls.

Motoko · 03/05/2019 23:36

Well, there are still new books coming out on how to decorate your home with plants, and they're still all over Instagram, etc.

Plants in the home are good for you too. A lot are very good air cleaners, the ubiquitous spider plant is one of them. And some are particularly good for bedrooms, as they give off oxygen during the night, unlike other plants.

Canyoutellwhoiamyet · 04/05/2019 21:16

Hi! Sorry for the delay, would you believe we only have got round to finishing it today!
Apart from a missing shelf of some sort behind the toilet, we are almost there.
Dh currently siliconing around the sink, once tidied up I'll update with a pic.
I'm much happier :-)
