Be gentle as this is affecting my mental health. DH1 voted leave, I voted remain. I can't get over my anger with him. He says he had no moral option because Europe laughed in the face of David Cameron when he tried to negotiate our terms in the EU. He has never voted Conservative in his life but has a very strong moral compass. He totally does not see that his vote to leave has contributed to this mess we are in as a country and the long lasting impact it Will have on our 2 DCs. Does anyone else have a partner who voted differently and feels very strongly about it? How have you got through it? I am so upset at the state of this country but I just can't talk about it with him. Please don't say to respect his decision & move on because the impact of leave is so far reaching & will have such an impact on so many aspects of our lives for so long. I work in a business where I see this every day - not just from a business point of view but people's attitudes, tolerance levels etc. Maybe it's a sign of a deeper rooted problem between us which I need to explore. Help. It's making me so sad. Confused

@gina2012 because you surveyed half the country, in that endeavour? "Sadly ime most people who voted leave just believed the hype and didn't have a cogent thought process"

Yabu. I don't think it's a black & white issue & as usual it's the ineptitude of our politicians that is making it harder. We should never have gone into the EU without at least a minimal plan of what would happen if we wanted to leave. However we have to deal with this now & endure the transition as best as we can. Splitting into leave/remainers isn't helpful & the blaming of leaver voters is pointless & polarising. Other people are entitled to different opinions & as pp said as long as you have similar morals, I wouldn't split over this.

Btw I voted remain & dh voted leave.

Absolutely this. There has been an increasing number of Eurosceptics since we joined the EU. Why, knowing this and particularly when proposing a referendum, was there no plan in place if a vote to leave was cast.

I want our government to have the freedom and ability to change laws create new policy and spend uk money as our people wish...and not have to jump through hoops to do so.
The amount of money swallowed up in being an EU member is immense whilst we have great need on our doorstep and in our own peoples services
I voted for serious change. Its not going to be easy but i truly believe it to be best.
Anyway..OP whatever reason your husband voted, it was his right to do so and considering leaving him over it seems pretty controlling and ott

Your life and the country really is not, and will not be in ruins.

Tell that to Honda workers in Swindon.

Tell that to Honda workers in Swindon.

This. Also tell that to anyone experiencing less than stellar care in a painfully understaffed NHS.

MotorcycleMayhem · 22/02/2019 10:01

The Honda plant has closed due to sales being crap, not Brexit. Wrong blame game.

I can't afford a basic Honda Civic and our joint income is nearly £80k. It's not a surprise they can't sell enough of them.

Honda needs a doorway into the EU. We will no longer provide it. If that wasn't important to them, why did they ask for and receive assurances from Theresa May that, post Brexit, there would still be frictionless trade with the EU?

It looks like they won't be the only Japanese company to disappear either, according to their ambassador - www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/15985959.honda-will-leave-the-uk-if-government-fails-to-secure-access-to-eu-market/
