Disappointed

I have to wonder why I bother.

Seems I don't see anyone unless I go to them.

Made sure I was home from visiting family. Let down Larry is a no show again.

They text me yesterday to confirm time. It replied.

Sat here like tripe at four pence again. Heard nothing.

I kinda refuse to chase now. AIBU to now ignore them?

Ho fucking hum.

MiddleClassPerm · 18/02/2019 18:06

Have you been on the gin since four pence?

ThreeAnkleBiters · 18/02/2019 18:10

YANBU despite bad typing. I hate people who do this kind of thing (apart from genuine reasons obviously).

OnoAnotherNC · 18/02/2019 18:12

Seems perfectly legible to me.

I get it, OP - some people just have very little consideration for other people's time.

FadedRed · 18/02/2019 18:13

I feel your pain. Rude as fuck.
Love “sat here like tripe at four pence” - never heard it before, where does it come from.

Tomtontom · 18/02/2019 18:14

You were expecting a visitor and they didn't turn up?

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 18/02/2019 18:15

Tripe should be cheap. If it's priced up at fourpence it's gonna go nowhere!

Old saying round here :)

Check my post can see I wrote "it" instead of "I"

Have I really written so poorly?

OP posts:
CoiledLocks · 18/02/2019 18:15

Jeez it's pretty obvious what op is saying. And no ynbu it's rude and selfish. Don't arrange again.

PersonaNonGarter · 18/02/2019 18:16

Your OP is difficult to understand, OP.

Could there be communication issues? Confused

Knittedfairies · 18/02/2019 18:19

I understood the post, despite never having heard the phrase 'tripe at four pence' before. Leave 'em to it.

Fiveletters · 18/02/2019 18:24

I wouldn’t be able to resist sending a sarcastic text but I certainly wouldn’t be rushing to rearrange.

Nothing wrong with your writing in your OP except one tiny mistake. Hmm

Houseonahill · 18/02/2019 18:30

Not sure what people are struggling to understand Confused there is two saying in there I haven't heard before but can A) clearly tell they are sayings and B) easily work out what they mean.

YANBU OP I wouldn't ignore them though I'd arrange to meet them somewhere not show up and then ignore them Wink

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 18/02/2019 18:36

@houseonahill I don't think I could. I'd turn up because I said I would 🤔

I'm just annoyed and glum I suppose.

OP posts:
MikeUniformMike · 18/02/2019 18:38

I like the tripe at fourpence saying.

ColourMeStoked · 18/02/2019 18:41

Tripe at fourpence Grin
Very rude not to turn up.

Crockof · 18/02/2019 18:42

You've cheered me up (sorry not really helping your situation) but I bloody love tripe for four pence 😂 never heard that before but will be using it. Where are you from brilliant saying

ValleyoftheHorses · 18/02/2019 18:45

My Dad always says cheese at fourpence, not tripe. It’s a great saying though.

BedraggledBlitz · 18/02/2019 18:48

I have a friend a bit like this. Every time I arrange something I'm doubtful that she will show. However, she has anxiety and depression so I cut her some slack, any chance that there might be an issue like that?

Otherwise ignore them

CSIblonde · 18/02/2019 18:50

I'm sorry OP. That sucks. But I'm adding Let down Larry to my favorite sayings!

Rosered341 · 18/02/2019 18:51

Tripe at four pence 😂😂😂 - I love it
are you from a NW town beginning with ‘B’ Op?

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 18/02/2019 18:54

No we are Midlands :)

If nothing else I'm pleased to pass on two soon to be popular sayings 😂

OP posts:
Rosered341 · 18/02/2019 18:58

Yeah YANBU - ignore them. They are not worthy of your excellent phrases anyway.

Eliza9917 · 18/02/2019 18:58

I read it as though op was stood up twice Confused

FunkyBarnYardBroom · 18/02/2019 19:02

It's more than twice and more than one friend 🤔

Must be me 🤷🖕 fuck it

OP posts:
FunkyBarnYardBroom · 18/02/2019 20:00

I got a text apologising and that something came up. When am I next free?

I've yet to reply. No point rushing!

OP posts:
CustardySergeant · 18/02/2019 20:03

"Made sure I was home from visiting family."

I don't get what this means. Sorry.
