When i first started reading MN, it took me a while to get used to terminology,parlance and the general feel of the forum. Cocklodger was something which took me a while to understand and ive just seen the term used again in a recent thread i.e .."is he a cock lodger?". It got me thinking,surely there must also be beaver lodgers but his being a predominantly female forum,we perhaps dont hear too much of them? Maybe some residents are beaver lodgers and know it or perhaps dont immediately recognise themselves as such? Are you a beaver lodger?

Why not go to a predominantly male forum like, well, pretty much any part of the internet? I’m sure there will be many tales of freeloading women there.

Of course in both situations you only get one side of the story so...

I suppose the difference is, it is pretty rare that a woman would do nothing either domestically, with the children or to contribute financially.

I know one! My twattish SIL. Sits on her arse all day on FB. Kids (both theirs, not prev relationship) sometimes haven’t had anything to eat at the weekend even by 2pm because she is lying in bed. Sometimes they don’t even get taken to school because she is so lazy. Emotionally and physically abusive to DB and no amount of pointing out to him gets through to him because she twists everything around to be his fault. She has isolated DB so much we are now not allowed in their house and we only have limited contact with the boys.

I know one and she’s lost custody of her DCs to her ex husband. It’s not very common and women who do it are pretty harshly judged.

Sorry to disillusion some of you, but yes, there absolutely are female versions of the cocklodger. I'm quite happy to accept there are few fewer of them than their male counterparts, but to say they simply don't exist is nonsense (some with kids, some without kids).

Vanishingly rare, and vitriolically judged when they occur -- and the only two examples I can think of offhand in my life have what look to be significant MH conditions which they are not managing.
