Anyone leaving Labour party with Chuka and his mates?

I am seriously worried. Politics across the West is an utter mess - thanks Putin, nice work - and I can't see that this will help. It will split the left vote and right-wing ideology will continue stomping its way to more power. We are asterisked all ways from hell to breakfast.

Thank you borntobequiet, knew he wouldn't be doing anything worthwhile. For those of you who are interested, Anna Soubry will be heading that lbc radio show tomorrow, 10-1, covering for James O'Brien.

same faux liberal elitist drivel for middle classes who quite like the idea of disenfranchising the poor because they keep not doing as their betters tell them.

The frothing voice of Corbynist Labour.

Freedom for Tooting! ✊

PostmanPatIsIncompetent · 20/02/2019 16:33

Bejam Yes, I know it is. I read the interview. I said that in my post. I also quoted from it, to show that Chris Leslie didn't say what you said he did.

And you did repeat an Owen Jones tweet - attached.

Ribbonsonabox · 20/02/2019 16:34

Nope.

Alsohuman · 20/02/2019 16:34

@Postman, it was when Amber Rudd made a U turn on introducing universal credit, he was frothing for some reason and I said “Give over, Owen, is there nothing you can’t find the bad in” And pffft I was blocked.

Windowsareforcheaters · 20/02/2019 16:36

Liberal elite? Red Tories? The Patronising Arsehole Party?

Who really cares about name calling?

Do they stand a chance of starting a party that could control the middle ground? That's what matters.

Would a middle ground party similar to New Labour reflect my real political beliefs, absolutely not. However, the real question is would it be better than the Tory party? Would they reject austerity? Would they take some steps to help the poor?

There is no chance of a left wing government in the U.K.people do not not vote for left wing parties in sufficient numbers. It won't happen.

Could a left wing Labour Party join a coalition with a moderate social democrat party and influence them - just possibly.

The Tory policies of austerity and Brexit have brought this country to its knees.

Anything but more of that. Would I compromise to get a bit of something rather than a whole heap of more pain? Absolutely.

PostmanPatIsIncompetent · 20/02/2019 16:39

@Also Ha! Zero tolerance of Tories, zero tolerance of tweets.

I'm staggered that he's criticising the independents for forming an alliance with (former) Tories while he's sharing a party with Derek Hatten. Oh, wait, hang on - no, I'm not surprised at all.

Stopwoofing · 20/02/2019 16:42

The anti Brexit centre careful party would do for me. Let’s have some thought out and researched policies rather than rants or meaningless virtue signals. If only Paul Johnson would go into politics...

birdsdestiny · 20/02/2019 16:42

Owen Jones is shitting himself. He is terrified he has backed the wrong horse. He s already dumped corbyn once and then changed his mind. He can't really do it again.

Alsohuman · 20/02/2019 16:46

Owen Jones is, as far as I can see, completely brainwashed and incapable of reasoned thought. He’s trashing his career at a very early age, in a twisted way I feel a bit sorry for him.

anniehm · 20/02/2019 16:47

I've signed up for more information! Can't stand Corbin tbh and the addition of the 3 conservative women just shows the need for a centrist grouping

BartonHollow · 20/02/2019 16:52

I've signed as well - I would donate if I could afford it

wombatsears · 20/02/2019 17:00

Can't stand Corbin tbh

Can’t spell it either.

PalmTree101 · 20/02/2019 17:05

I signed up to 'support' and donated. Every little helps!

UtterlyDesperate · 20/02/2019 17:08

Poor old Owen Jones is not terribly bright, unfortunately, and he's not great at critical thinking: stereotypical soundbites are about the limit of his intellectual capacity. Actually, though, this probably also makes him quite representative of the average voter Grin

Skirmisher · 20/02/2019 17:09

Owen Jones is shitting himself. He is terrified he has backed the wrong horse

I agree. He was far more lukewarm about Corbyn at the start of 2017, but once full Corbymania was underway he put all his chips down for Jezza. Where does he go from here?

Filbert7 · 20/02/2019 17:11

I'm left wing and was glad to see Labour move more to the left with Corbyn.

But, in this moment, I'll take Remainer centrism over a left-wing Brexiting.

Jux · 20/02/2019 17:16

By my calculations, May still has a majority of one, assuming all Tories and DUP vote her way and everyone else votes against. (This includes one vacant seat and Sinn Fein not voting at all.)

Xiaoxiong · 20/02/2019 17:18

I've also signed up and donated. Praying it's not too late.

HateIsNotGood · 20/02/2019 17:23

It's a bit of a spectrum rather than an either/or continuum. As a non-party Voter I do respect these MPs for throwing their hats into the ring; as well as it reminding me of the Gang of Four and the 'creation' of the SDP - although where are they now, or rather, what did that become?

Brexit is just a catalyst for this expression of discontent with the existing Two Parties and their Stances; their has, and always will be, a necessity for a serious 'third party' opposition to our Two Parties;
keeps them on their toes and a challenge to complacency.

NigellasGuest · 20/02/2019 17:23

How/where do you sign up / donate? Googling just takes me to Wikipedia or an art group!
