I am seriously worried. Politics across the West is an utter mess - thanks Putin, nice work - and I can't see that this will help. It will split the left vote and right-wing ideology will continue stomping its way to more power. We are asterisked all ways from hell to breakfast.

Thanks birds I'll keep trying

Milicentbystander72 · 19/02/2019 14:43

I've managed to sign up and donate just now. I couldn't at all yesterday. I think the website crashed.

birdsdestiny · 19/02/2019 15:24

Try now. It has just accepted me Grin

Why are you donating to a group that isn't really a party yet? It doesn't have any policies and who knows what on earth will happen to them?
I don’t get this either I understand why they’ve left and think they were right to do so but what they stand for is pretty vague at the moment. It’s not even clear if they will end up being a new party or just a collective of individuals. It may turn into something brilliant or go tits up.

67chevvyimpala · 19/02/2019 15:57

I have no intention.oc donating.

I want a question answered

In the last election FPTP delivered a situation where 25% of the votes cast were for parties that ended up with less than 1% of the seats.

Can't really think of a better argument for scrapping it tbh.

M3lon · 19/02/2019 16:03

actually talkins argument is even better.

Two of the worst run current governments are the only two still suffering this shit.

birdsdestiny · 19/02/2019 16:08

I didn't donate , I put my name on their mailing list as a sign that I support what they are trying to do. Sitting and waiting for other people to make changes with regard to the current horrendous political situation isn't really what I want to do.

This from Kezia Dugdale is excellent:

It may come to nothing,or it may come to something. It was never going to happen overnight that's not how these things work. I can't sit and do nothing whilst this is going on in the Labour party, that would make me culpable too.

Windowsareforcheaters · 19/02/2019 16:16

So they should do nothing?

We complain when politicians don't make a stand. This group have said they can't remain in the LP in good conscience and now they are criticised because it won't do anything.

Do we want politicians who act on principle or not?

gamerwidow · 19/02/2019 16:25

birdsdestiny I think I’ll do that too, I am interested to see what their ideas are.

Stopwoofing · 19/02/2019 16:26

Doesn’t mean there isn’t stuff going on behind the scenes.

Milicentbystander72 · 19/02/2019 17:28

I only donated a fiver!

I'm a floating voter who's desperate for a home and I was excited to see some people (yes only 7 for now) making a stand and doing something. I like what I heard in their speeches.

I know their no where near being a proper party but I'm interested. If my £5 helps with a bit of photocopying then so be it.

Milicentbystander72 · 19/02/2019 17:29

*they're nowhere near

TalkinPeece · 19/02/2019 17:44

Tom Watson says the party needs to change
John Mcdonnell says it needs to listen
Jezza says "they were elected on my manifesto"
he is such a narrow minded twerp
and he wants Brexit for which he should never be forgiven

Stopwoofing · 19/02/2019 17:52

Yes except, JC, the manifesto can’t be enacted as he didn’t win the election. Minor detail.

medusa83 · 19/02/2019 17:56

Haven't RTFT, but yes. I like their statements so far. Proud of our country instead of loving our enemies like Corbyn seems to, and they see the importance of business, but they also believe in strong public services unlike the Tories. So yup. Will be voting for them.

Stopwoofing · 19/02/2019 18:08

That Jezza statement encapsulated his arrogance for me - he didn’t get that manifesto elected despite massive giveaways. JC could’ve picked better wording there but in his mind, the fact it did better than expected = victory. Except it wasn’t...

birdsdestiny · 19/02/2019 18:36

The party that doesn't yet exist is currently polling higher than the lib demsGrin

dreichuplands · 19/02/2019 18:53

Corbyn, " Please shut up so I can tell you that I am listening"
