Anyone leaving Labour party with Chuka and his mates?

I am seriously worried. Politics across the West is an utter mess - thanks Putin, nice work - and I can't see that this will help. It will split the left vote and right-wing ideology will continue stomping its way to more power. We are asterisked all ways from hell to breakfast.

More anti Semitic filth. Reported.

PostmanPatIsIncompetent · 18/02/2019 16:43

I doubt it has anything to do with the current Labour leader being pro palestinian and decries the action of the israeli government, nothing to do with that at all, not even a little bit hmm

So...labour activists are "hounding out Jewish labour MPs" because "Corbyn is pro-Palestine and disagrees with the Israeli government"?

And that's ok in your view?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 18/02/2019 16:44

How do we know they are labour activists?

PostmanPatIsIncompetent · 18/02/2019 16:44

I mean, that is breathtakingly anti-Semitic. Do you not see it or do you not care?

BartonHollow · 18/02/2019 16:45

I am default Labour voter who never could under any circumstances vote Tory but who thinks the current Labour Party is unfit for purpose and unelectable for countless reasons most of which have been mentioned.

I would massively welcome a Centrist party particularly if it absorbed the wishy washy Lib Dem party and added Remainer Tories
and was led by someone with charisma and backbone

I think that would suit A LOT of voters on both sides of the aisle.

BelleSausage · 18/02/2019 16:45

People scoffing at the Lib Dem’s joining with the new party are underestimating the importance of a voting block of 19 MPs in a minority government.

The ERG is 21 MPs and they have been holding Theresa May to ransom for two years.

Yes antisemitism was within the Labour party before Corbyn was leader just as it is within other parties yet we heard little compared to the protests and outcry we hear now. There are many people who will do whatever it takes to keep Corbyn out of no.10.

Windowsareforcheaters · 18/02/2019 16:46

Anti-semitism the prejudice that unites!

Only a 'bit' anti Semitic so it's ok?

Good god what has happened to the U.K.?

PostmanPatIsIncompetent · 18/02/2019 16:50

DonaldTwain You're right. I just...every new time it comes up, it staggers me all over again.

DonaldTwain · 18/02/2019 16:51

I know but it’s there, it’s ugly, Labour is riddled with it. I’d rather MN wasn’t tho. Please MNHQ get rid of it.

BelleSausage · 18/02/2019 16:52

@mrsglowglow

Why is that? Why has anti-semitism reared it’s head now? Because Corbyn is a weak leader, who is sympathetic to anti-Semitic view points and and anti-Jewish groups. He won’t deal with the problem properly because it would involve flexing leadership muscles he doesn’t have and dealing more harshly with his pals. He doesn’t want to lose face with his causes and he puts that over and above the health of the party.

ConfCall · 18/02/2019 16:58

I live in a Labour/Conservative marginal. Labour have it currently. I like the MP, who is committed and intelligent, and would definitely vote for them in a 2019 GE if they left Labour and joined the 7. If they remained with Labour I would vote Conservative because the thought of Corbyn in charge with Abbott in tow, is preposterous.

tankie76 · 18/02/2019 16:59

Umunna and his ilk should never have been in the Labour Party to begin with.

These liberals and wet Tories destroyed what was once a proper social democratic party and now its in the hands of Trotskyite loons like Corbyn.

DonaldTwain · 18/02/2019 17:00

So MNHQ deletes my post but leaves the flagrant anti semitism to stand? Nice look guys. Well done.

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 18/02/2019 17:06

I think the anti-semitism is over-hyped and no worse than other party (ie bad, but not a reason to vote against Labour)

And it's this exact attitude within the Labour party (the attitude that, yes of course anti-Semitism is bad but not bad enough that we should actually do anything about it) that has many members disillusioned. I've been a member since I was 18 but I've left because if there was a GE tomorrow, for the first time in my life, I genuinely don't know who I would vote for. I know I could never bring myself to vote Tory but neither am I prepared to vote for a Labour party with Corbyn and McDonnell at the helm.

I didn't vote for Corbyn in the leadership election but I was fully prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt because over 80% of my party did. Unfortunately, his handling of Brexit, refusal to tackle anti-Semitism within the party and the growing influence of momentum are things I just can't bring myself to support. I feel adrift politically, like many others on this thread and while I agree that Chukka Umuna is acting largely out of self interest and I've never been a fan of his, he is right that something needs to change because so many people feel that their views are completely unrepresented by the two main parties and there is just no realistic alternative.

longwayoff · 18/02/2019 17:24

A link to The Spectator explaining anti semitism in Labour Party? What is this? Irony bypass week?

Here's a nice piece from a very nice website I unfortunately just found about Jewish Conservatives:

Jewish over-representation is only part of our problem. An even bigger worry is the huge number of non-Jew Zionists that have stealthily infiltrated every level of political and institutional life. They swell the pro-Israel lobby to such a phenomenal extent that it accounts for an enormous 80 per cent of the Conservative Party

TalkinPeece · 18/02/2019 17:36

Momentum thugs are threatening to deselect my MP because he is too moderate
but my constituency IS A MODERATE ONE
and will turn Blue again if they bring in a hard left candidate

PostmanPatIsIncompetent · 18/02/2019 17:36

Yep. This is an example of what I was talking about earlier: the split vote accusation doesn't stack up because Corbyn-led Labour is not going to maintain nor increase their votes in the marginals they would need to in order to win.

birdsdestiny · 18/02/2019 17:37

They won't see it, they don't want to see it. And no to whoever asked the anti-Semitism wasn't rife in the Blair years because the section of the party that is anti semitic had no power. They do now so it's come to the forefront.

NotAgainSilly · 18/02/2019 17:53

ODFOD

Wow just wow....

Posters just proving the 7s points for them.

DonaldTwain · 18/02/2019 17:57

Really the extent to which these people (longwayoff as an e.g) appear determined to live down to their stereotype is quite amazing. But then, they’re not that bright. Gone are the days when the question “why are all the clever people left wing” was frequently heard.

MissEliza · 18/02/2019 17:57

The anti-semitism is over hyped. Words fail me Sad.

Decormad38 · 18/02/2019 17:59

The Corbyn support of Brexit sealed it for me. I’m with the centrists.
