AIBU to think that the IS bride would never have been allowed the freedoms she has, unless they have a grander plan?

I just find it all a bit suspicious.
She looks dopey or doped.
Her interview was very rehearsed.
They want to get her back here for nefarious reasons.
They would not have allowed her to speak to press.
She is a willing accomplice in a grander plan?

It's all gone tits up for IS.

paradise has fallen and she wants to come back to Uk. Eventually she will be back as she is a British citizen whether we agree or not on that.

She needs to get to a British consulate then she will be given assistance home but no British diplomats will be going into the refugee camp to get he out.

If he family want to travel there to get her over the border then let them do it at their own expense and risk.

BrizzleMint · 17/02/2019 22:44

I certainly do not think she deserves to have her child under the NHS and no doubt she will be housed for free and live here for free.

She doesn't but her child is innocent in all this and he deserves to. He probably also deserves a decent set of parents.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 17/02/2019 22:48

I haven't a clue if here's a "grander plan" around her or not, but what really concerns me is that, while ISIS may be on its last legs, the ideology definitely isn't

Sooner or later it'll pop up as something else, and if Shamima ever got back to the UK I've no doubt she'd be right there supporting it

Sureyouwill · 17/02/2019 23:35

I'm sorry, but, why would we have to let her back here?

OP posts:
Putitdownnow · 18/02/2019 00:13

The legal framework we exist in says no one can be declared stateless and so she has to be returned to her native country, regardless of how you or anyone else 'feels' about it.

What happens if and when she gets here is another matter.

Go and watch C4 news on catch up. It explains it all.

Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 01:31

Does that mean we can deport every criminal over here from abroad?

OP posts:
everythingisbetterafteranap · 18/02/2019 02:28

I'm beginning to think you're being deliberately goady and obtuse.

This girl hasn't been convicted of any crime. She may be when she returns, but at the moment she isn't a criminal. She is a UK citizen abroad who wants to return home. That's why it's practically impossible to legally stop it.

Watch a news programme. It'll help.

MsFanackerPants · 18/02/2019 03:09

Almost All of these questions were answered in her first interview with a journalist from the Times
Who was your husband? Dutch Convert Yago Reidijk

How did you manage to get flights to Syria?
They didn't. They flew to Turkey and then travelled across the border by car and on foot.
Who organised it?
Who did you first meet there?
Was your marriage arranged? Yes she asked to marry someone who spoke English aged between 20 and 25.
When were your children born? Her daughter was born approx April 2017 and her son March 2018
What was daily life like? She says she just stayed at home and looked after her children and her husband sometimes took her to see friebds
How did the children die? Malnutrition And an illness. They
How have you ended up here? She And her husband surrendered to Syrian fighters. He was taken to a POW camp and she was sent to a refugee camp.
Who are 'they' who won't let you contact your DH? The Syrian fighters
Why now? They left Raqqa after the fighting ended up in Baghuz. She left there 2 weeks ago to surrender as the city was being bombed.

Most of the information is out there and the questions have been asked.

AgentProvocateur · 18/02/2019 03:16

Of course we have to let her back. She’s british. She doesn’t have dual nationality. You can’t make people stateless. It’s against international law. How about doing some reading and critical thinking before you start frothing?

MadCatEnthusiast · 18/02/2019 03:20

She gave birth just hours before the interview, she’s hardly going to be jumping about

Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 03:36

Haven't seen the Times interview, just the Sky one.

Glad to hear you're going to be organising the welcoming committee AgentProvocateur.

No frothing. I just don't believe a word she is saying. I think she is a massive risk and I think we're fucked if we do actually have to take her back.

Why isn't she back already then if that's the case?

OP posts:
Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 03:38

Perhaps we should bring out the fatted calf? Oh? What's that now?

OP posts:
AgentProvocateur · 18/02/2019 03:43

I don’t know whether you’re being deliberately obtuse. She’s in a refugee camp! We have no obligation to go and rescue her, but if she makes her way to an Embassy, then we do have obligations.

I’m not going to add to the numerous articles that have already been written, detailing her situation. I recommend reading a decent newspaper for some background.

Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 03:45

Writing in the Sunday Times, Home Secretary Sajid Javid warned he would "not hesitate" to prevent the return of Britons who travelled to join IS.

He wrote: "The difficult challenge we now face is what we should do about those who are still seeking to return."

OP posts:
Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 03:46

They're certainly not going to be sending helicopters in to rescue her, put it that way.

OP posts:
Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 03:48

But the government does not have consular staff in Syria, and says it will not risk any lives to help Britons who have joined a banned terrorist group.

If Ms Begum is able to reach a British consulate in a recognised country, it is thought security chiefs could "manage" her return.

Cabinet minister Jeremy Wright told BBC's Andrew Marr programme the new baby's nationality was "not straightforward".

The former attorney general said: "In the end she will have to answer for her actions.

FunkyKingston · 18/02/2019 03:48

Why isn't she back already then if that's the case?

Le sigh, because she's in a refugee camp in Syria, that surprisingly lacks a branch of Thomas Cook. She has a right to return to the UK but the UK government has no obligation to facilitate or fund that return.

Given you are so unfamiliar with the basic facts of the case or the wider events surrounding it or simple legal principles, i would suggest reeading up in it, rather than continuing to ask half baked questions.

Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 03:50

You'd be surprised how much I know if you actually read before you shoot your mouth off.

OP posts:
Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 03:51

Nobody is going to be helping her return.

OP posts:
Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 03:52

Well some bleeding heart might, but you won't see most people rushing to her aid.

OP posts:
FunkyKingston · 18/02/2019 03:57

I've read your posts and the depth of your seemingly wilful ignorance is only matched by the misplaced confidence in your completely uninformed views.

MadCatEnthusiast · 18/02/2019 04:01

What Sajid says isn’t worth a thing. He can’t prevent her arrival as she is British. He’s just trying to make himself look good.

Nobody on this thread is saying anyone will go to her. Everyone has said she needs to go to the nearest embassy. Why are you acting as if the majority is urging the gov to go to Syria and pick her up when that isn’t the case.

She’s in a refugee camp, frankly being a drain on them and needs to come back as she is British responsibility. However, at no point, has anyone said they’ll airlift her or pick her up.

Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 04:03

Well Funky honey, your wilful insults are only matched by your idiotic and ostentatious use of prosaic language in an online discussion. Wink

OP posts:
Sureyouwill · 18/02/2019 04:05

My point is that she will be left there to rot. And should be.

OP posts:
Andylion · 18/02/2019 06:44

SeverL posters have said that was groomed. What form did the grooming take? She said that she had watched videos, was that the grooming?
