AIBU to think that the IS bride would never have been allowed the freedoms she has, unless they have a grander plan?

I just find it all a bit suspicious.
She looks dopey or doped.
Her interview was very rehearsed.
They want to get her back here for nefarious reasons.
They would not have allowed her to speak to press.
She is a willing accomplice in a grander plan?

The journo didn't ask how the others died. He didn't ask her anything about her 4 years over there. It was a poor interview on his part I felt.

She's clearly not the brightest tool in the box, but there may be a mastermind behind her.

Sparklesocks · 17/02/2019 21:08

I just don’t think IS have the resources to be that organised. And even if this is part of a wide master plan, she’s one woman - what is she going to do? Even if the UK let her back (which isn’t likely) she’s likely going to be heavily monitored. What do you think they’d have planned exactly?

Sparkle. Play the long game maybe? Wait until the heat settles? Let her establish a routine etc. While IS abroad may be under fire, the cells here still exist. It's like the snake with a 1000 heads.

Calling a woman who's been groomed, likely sexually abused (and definitely consummated a marriage before 16) and had her children die before her eyes a thick bitch is lacking in empathy.

She made a stupid choice. At 15, I made a half arsed suicide attempt. Someone else I know stole a couple of hundred quid. Thank God I'm not expected to pay for my entire life for the childish actions I did.

Sureyouwill · 17/02/2019 21:15

There would have been so many questions I'd have asked her.

Who was your husband?
How did you manage to get flights to Syria?
Who organised it?
Who did you first meet there?
Was your marriage arranged?
When were your children born?
What was daily life like?
How did the children die?
How have you ended up here?
Who are 'they' who won't let you contact your DH?
Why now?
What drugs are you on?
If you can't return to England, what is your plan?

Etc. etc. etc.

But he asked fuck all.

You didn't join ISIS though Seline.

Ok, but even then - what is she going to do? It’s not like one individual has that much power or authority, let alone a lone woman who will most likely be on watch lists for life. The journo tracked her down too, rather then the other way around.

It just seems like a lot of planning and organisation for it to be a masterplan, setting up the media interview, contacting the government, and then wait over the course of possibly years for what, a terrorist attack? On what scale could one woman do so much damage that it’s worth all this planning? It just doesn’t ring to true to me. What feels more likely is that she doesn’t want to live in a refugee camp anymore and is doing what she can to get out. But it’s not likely anything will come of it.

Seline · 17/02/2019 21:18

No I didn't, my point is just that people, teenagers in particular, do stupid shit. It's why you're not legally an adult at 15.

PierreBezukov · 17/02/2019 21:18

She's clearly not the brightest tool in the box

Weren't she and her two friends all straight A students?

I don't have much sympathy for her TBH.

Sureyouwill · 17/02/2019 21:19

Well I hope to God they don't let her back.

OP posts:
Sureyouwill · 17/02/2019 21:20

She doesn't strike me as bright. Don't believe everything the media prints.

Imustbemad00 · 17/02/2019 21:24

@Seline
You are not seriously comparing stealing a few hundred
Pounds with boarding a plane to Syria to join isis??

At 15, she knew what isis were. She was aware of the killings that had already happened across England. She was aware of why she was going to Syria. She has since said she has no regret and wasn’t phased by beheadings and heads in dustbins.

But you feel sorry for her? Sure.

PinkiOcelot · 17/02/2019 21:28

Running off to join IS wasn’t exactly the normal crap teenagers do though was it Seline?!

Yes let’s all have sympathy for her. Her who is not at all phased by beheaded heads in a basket. That’s not exactly normal teenage behaviour either is it?!

Personally I don’t the the actions of normal teenage are anywhere comparable to her!!

had her children die before her eyes

Allegedly. We only have her word for that.

And how many other children has she been complicit in murdering, if only by facilitating this vile sect? How many other European Muslim girls has she helped to radicalise? How many other families have lost their sons and daughters as the direct result of her actions?

She's cunning, selfish and dangerous.

CaveMum · 17/02/2019 21:39

She must have answered some of the questions you raise OP as I read in a BBC article that:

A) On arrival in Syria she lived in a house with other wannabe ISIS-brides.
B) She left the house after about 3 weeks after asking to be married to an English-speaker and her new husband was a Dutch convert.
C) her children died within a few months of each other late last year from illness compounded by malnutrition.

Obviously she may be lying through her teeth, but she has been asked those questions by someone,

Seline · 17/02/2019 21:40

Yeah daisy I'm lacking in brain cells because I understand how grooming, child brain development and impulse control in teens, the vulnerability one feels as an ethnic and religious minority and the perceived glamour of the forbidden can combine to create a scenario where a child may do something utterly stupid.

Guess I should just have a knee jerk reaction like everyone else! Fuck logic.

Crinkle77 · 17/02/2019 21:40

I don't think she's on drugs. She's just had a baby. She's bound to be a bit fucked off that and probably hasn't had much sleep

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 17/02/2019 21:41

Just asked this on the other thread:
Is she in that camp voluntarily? Or being held captive?
She said she had no money, but I can't believe there aren't people out there who would fund her escape/release. So, is she free to leave if she has help?

Plus, I have no idea if she really was pregnant, but I would point out that whenever that newborn squawked, she was totally unresponsive - didn't even glance his way. I find that odd for a new mum.

PierreBezukov · 17/02/2019 21:44

It's a chilling interview
Kadiza Sultana, one of the three Bethnal Green girls, died a year after they arrived. And two of her babies have died? No one seems to be have asked probing questions

daisypetal321 · 17/02/2019 21:47

Yes, and you also obviously understand he involvement in a terrorost organisation and the risks that poses to the rest of us too.

whatwouldyoubelikeat28 · 17/02/2019 21:48

She was a child who was groomed who has undergone an utterly horrific traumatic experience, including deaths of two children before she was EIGHTEEN. She is not likely to be able to give slick interviews that are engineered to evoke your sympathy. There is no conspiracy. She is not okay. I'm with you Seline. The masses baying for blood are just awful, including all you lot above.
