New to the village, who is BU? Me or Dh?

So, moved into very small village this week, ( think one main street and that’s it) we have about 4 immediate neighbours, behind, either side and opposite. No one has come over to introduce themselves in a week. Dh thinks it up to them to knock on our door and introduce themselves and welcome us to the village... I think the onus is on us to go to them and say hello.
What is the usual etiquette in this situation? We haven’t moved for decades and can’t honestly remember what happened in our last house!!

You are really overthinking this. If you want to pop over to say hi then do so and if you didn't then do t. There is no right or wrong so just do what you want.

Also, I wouldn't bother trying to guess what your nieghbours are thinking. They may not have popped over because they aren't interested or they may not have popped over because they think you may be busy. You can't possibly know so there is no point stressing over it.

@Chardonnay73 - that sounds great (until the keys go in a bowl). Have fun!!

I’d go for a more organic introduction. Wait until you see each other in your gardens, emptying your bin etc, say hello. Maybe they will stop and chat, maybe they will mutter a hello in return and scurry back indoors. Not everyone wants to be pally pally with neighbours, even in villages.

Theres no "rule". If you are the sort of person who hates chatting with the neighboyrs, dont go round. If you like getting to know neighbours, go round. If there is a pub, definitely visit it.

Our community council put together a welcome pack for new residents, including details of all the local groups, activities etc.
