Sorry, I just can’t do it.

Not a fan, but I'm stuck with her, my only option on commute, well, it's that or radio one

It just feels scripted and awkward.

Love love love Sara Cox on drivetime.

Agree - all the gasping and not letting interviewees finish their sentences drives me nuts. I’m same- play music. All the activity at that time of the morning is too full on. Sorry Zoe. Secretly Delighted Sara proving to be such a success, though yes to dropping the awful feature of getting someone to say a statement. Always thought Sara was the also ran to Zoe. Good on ya! First time in decades I’ve given the radio a miss in the morning. Wonder whether streaming is the way to go?

Mintychoc1 · 15/02/2019 00:04

I move between stations (radio 2 and capital/heart/gem), and every time I’ve gone on to Zoe Ball’s show, she’s always reading out something from a listener . Where they’re going, what they’re doing, what cute thing their kid has done, what they’re most embarrassing work event was etc. There seems to be very little music, and no banter or chat - just Zoe reading out listener comments. Is that what the show is meant to be about now?

CalishataFolkart · 15/02/2019 00:04

I can’t be doing with Sara Cox - over reliance on the listener interaction doesn’t appeal to me at that time. “What have you been doing? What are you up to? I had a sandwich today. Have you ever had a sandwich? What’s the best sandwich? Have I mentioned my husband and kids yet? Have you ever made a sandwich for your kids? Please give us content!”

Weirdly I don’t mind it with Liza and her entire show is listener based.

Mainly though I find her vocal is too quiet in comparison with the music so I’m forever turning the volume up and down. Same problem with Dermot O’Leary when he was on. Speak up or turn the bloody mic up!

Excited101 · 15/02/2019 00:05

I’m a huge Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott on magic fm fan myself, I thought Ronan would be a bit crap but he’s Great!

narcissistseverywhere · 15/02/2019 00:05

I thought I'd love Zoe and hate Sara (bit too 'try hard') but actually it's the other way round. Loving Sara on Drivetime, but miss Simon Mayo, shame he can't do the breakfast show. Am not missing Chris Evans in the slightest

PlatypusPie · 15/02/2019 00:25

I like Zoe and was looking forward to her doing this but I have been disappointed and keep switching away from it. It seems like the worst of morning TV shows in its triviality and twittering and wittering on. I need something to keep me awake on my drive ! Chris Evans had his faults but the content was more varied and occasionally surprising.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 15/02/2019 00:35

I can take or leave Zoe.
Chris did my head in though - particularly with his need to put Noah on the air so much.
Same as Simon Cowell sticking his kid on X-factor final.
Take note: your kids are only ever fascinating to you.

I also miss Terry. He had a comforting voice.
I listen to Ken Bruce mostly.
I miss Simon Mayo but don't really listen to classical by choice so doubt I will listen to him on Scala in March - apparently Chris did ring him about joining Virgin but he was already taken.
Gary Davies is still good fun in the early hours.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 15/02/2019 07:07

I agree that her best asset is she’s not Chris Evans, but I think it’s the lousy music that really screws the show. Put Sara on mornings, stick Zoe on in Steve Wright’s slot and bring back Simon Mayo for drive time

TroysMammy · 15/02/2019 07:12

I set my alarm for 6.30am for the news. I'm not quick enough to turn it off before Zoe Ball starts. In that 1 minute she really gets on my tits. She sounds like the wet Philadelphia girls in the advert - "lovely" .

KittyVonCatsworth · 15/02/2019 07:12

I love the new changes. Tbf, Zoë was always going to be better than CE but she's better than I thought she would be. And I love the music, it's nostalgic. I'm also loving Sara, I find her hilarious and very quick witted. Again, love the tunes, a good mix.

Twickerhun · 15/02/2019 07:21

I like Zoe - CE drove me nuts at times especially with his hideous charity fundraising attempts.
Sara is doing a good job but she has one segment that makes me switch off, the one where she gets a caller to make someone else say a specific phrase. At that point I would listen to anything else.

Sparklingbrook · 15/02/2019 07:22

I haven't had a listen. Greg James is on Radio 1 and he makes me laugh so I'll stick with him even though I am so not the target audience.

Yogagirl123 · 15/02/2019 07:26

Couldn’t believe it when she got the job, over Sara Cox. Not a fan of Zoe personally love Sara, she seems more genuine.

thewinkingprawn · 15/02/2019 07:28

I really like Zoe ball but am hugely disappointed with her R2 show. I want some energy or a laugh in the mornings but I find her plinky plunky and dull. Loved Terry wogan, loved Chris Evans but have now moved back to R1 and am enjoying Greg James. I keep going back to Zoe in the hope it has got better but it just doesn’t. Such a shame for that important breakfast show slot (I think she’d be absolutely fine in another slot!).

UnicornRainbowsRain · 15/02/2019 07:28

I couldn't listen to Chris Evans so went back to Chris Moyles on Radio X Smile

thewinkingprawn · 15/02/2019 07:30

Love what a PP said about ‘Chris Evans hideous charity fundraising attempts’ - yes, he only raised millions and millions of pounds through them whether you liked it or not 😀😀😀 what a hideous attempt to do good.

ibblebibbledibble · 15/02/2019 07:36

I really wanted to like it, but I’m finding it a bit dull. I like things that make me laugh in the morning. I’m going between her, Chris moyles and Chris Evans at the moment. But I have to listen to her in my car.
I’ve still not got over Chris moyles leaving radio 1! 😃

LonelyandTiredandLow · 15/02/2019 07:37

I was wondering why Chris left the other day - he hinted about differences of opinion (I assumed Brexit) and I feel he felt trapped.
I loved Zoe Ball the first time around and although you can tell she is nervous I think she is doing well and I like the music choices I've heard. At least it's not constant sport chat or her pretending she knows more than the experts on the show Hmm
I do think I'm going off the BBC in general though - everything feels censored and false, like they aren't allowed to really comment on anything in case they get a complaint.

dayswithaY · 15/02/2019 07:38

Zoe has the worst possible voice for radio - can't believe she hasn't had some training to slow her down, stop sucking in air, unbearable to listen to. Sara Cox is the same, plus pretending to be a bumbling fool - forgot to give my kids their lunch, tripped over the dog, blah blah. I expect she's a million miles from the Stressed Northern Mum on a Council Estate she would have us believe and gets by with a team of assistants, nannies and stylists. All a bit too contrived. Liza Tarbuck I could listen to all day, same as Vanessa Feltz - just more believable.

dayswithaY · 15/02/2019 07:41

Plus Greg James is really funny and clever, he makes me laugh out loud. Never understood why R2 don't give Danny Baker a show - he's a genius.

Doilooklikeatourist · 15/02/2019 07:41

Oh I like her
I can listen to radio 2 now that Chris ( me me me ) Evans has gone
Fed up with Steve Wright though
I like Sara Cox too , though I do miss Simon Mayo ( and the confessions )

BartholinsSister · 15/02/2019 07:44

I think Zoe just needs to calm down a little bit, she sounds a little over-enthusiastic. Ease back on the cutesy-kid nonsense too.
I'm loving Liza on a Saturday evening - fantastic music (that you rarely hear elsewhere) and she sounds like she's spent all afternoon in the pub - it probably wouldn't work on a weekday morning though.

Hazlenutpie · 15/02/2019 07:46

I love her. I couldn’t listen to Chris Evans.

GaraMedouar · 15/02/2019 07:46

I'm the same, love Sara Cox, but yes when she does the bit where they have to get someone to say a phrase I switch over if I'm driving , or walk out of the kitchen for 5 min if I'm at home. Can't bear it!
