They'd have loads of material to play with at the minute that's all. Anyone with me?

OP posts:
MerryMarigold · 13/02/2019 18:12

Oh yes please. But who knows the amount of lawsuits they'd be fighting in this day and age.

ToTheCrystalDome · 13/02/2019 18:13

Hell yeah!! I've been saying that for years. It was one of my most favourite TV programmes as a teenager. It inadvertently taught me lots about politics too! Loved the songs at the end.

ForalltheSaints · 13/02/2019 18:15

It would be better than some of the drivel that is on tv. People might be aware of who some of the politicians ruining this country are. Plenty of 'celebrities' to send up- I am imagining a Michael McIntyre puppet, or the supposed feud between Gregg Wallace and John Torode.

Sjofn · 13/02/2019 18:17

Yes definitely

Or if not Newzoids - wtf has Newzoids gone?

Lllot5 · 13/02/2019 18:18

Yes definitely one of my favs

Alsohuman · 13/02/2019 18:19

Heard an interview about this the other day with the guy who created SI. He reckoned current politicians are such caricatures in real life, he wouldn't be able to do much with them!

Obloodyhell · 13/02/2019 18:24

You can really see Theresa May recreating the vegetables sketch Grin

Bryjam · 13/02/2019 18:31

Omg the chicken song!!!!!

redandyellowandpinkandgreen99 · 13/02/2019 18:33

OMG YES! Imagine the Theresa May one? It would have a forked tongue LOL!!!

And as for the Donald Trump one. PMSL it would be hilarious!

I would LOVE to see it come back.

Bussells · 13/02/2019 18:41

I was just thinking this the other day! Would love it to come back

Cornettoninja · 13/02/2019 18:42

I would love that. And another incarnation of the thick of it.

Am I missing a particularly good political comedy at the moment or is there just not one about?

whatacrapusername2306 · 13/02/2019 18:45

Yes! Hold a chicken in the air, stick a deckchair up your nose...I thought that song was hilarious. Bring it back. That or Newzoids.

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 13/02/2019 18:47

Nothing to add except another massive 'YES'!

ginghambox · 13/02/2019 18:50

a particularly good political comedy at the moment or is there just not one about?
Yes there is it's called the Labour shadow cabinet.

OracleofShelf · 13/02/2019 18:51

If they did, how would we tell the difference between Spitting Image and real life? 🤔

Jsmith99 · 13/02/2019 18:56

Nice idea, but i can’t see it happening. Spitting Image would have to be provocative, a bit edgy and take some risks to make it funny but the professionally offended brigade would never stand for it.

northernlites · 13/02/2019 19:00

Would love it to come back, political and celeb gold out there to send up

MissionItsPossible · 13/02/2019 19:11

How long would it last in 2019 and with Twitter around?

How long would it last when a politician of colour or a homosexual/trans person gets their turn of being lampooned and it's being dragged for being racist/homophobic/transphobic?

No thanks. Let real comedy exist as it did in the time that it did and not some sanitised or constantly apologetic version.

FallenMadonnawiththeBadBoobies · 13/02/2019 19:25

I LOVED Spitting Images. Remember how Margaret Thatcher became more and more masculine until she was joining the Cabinet at the urinals?

GimmeBread · 13/02/2019 19:26

Oh yes!! I'd love to see what they could do now!

BlueSuffragette · 13/02/2019 19:27

Absolutely. It was brilliant.

TroysMammy · 13/02/2019 19:27

I think they'd portray Theresa May as the Count in Sesame Street. Maybe not the accent but definitely the look.

FallenMadonnawiththeBadBoobies · 13/02/2019 19:33

Theresa May could be the German SS officer’s sidekick in Allo Allo Grin

SweetAndSourPrawnBalls · 13/02/2019 19:34

Yes, yes, yes!

Bananalanacake · 13/02/2019 19:39

and the Saturday Night Armistice was good, I wish it would come back.
