Sorry to be a bit dramatic and to use MN as a medical resource

I am feeling dreadful and have been all day. I’ve got a pounding headache, I feel sick and shivery and the skin in my legs has gone mottled (see picture)

I’ve got a massive day at work tomorrow so really don’t have time to go to my GP but I’m feeling dreadful and wondering if (assuming I still feel like this tomorrow) I should try and get to a walk in or something. (Also please excuse my fat legs)

A&E. Now. Could be sepsis.

kaytee87 · 12/02/2019 21:05

The first thing I thought of was possible meningitis. I'm not a doctor though. Give nhs 24 a call.

catgirl1976 · 12/02/2019 21:06

Ah feck. Ok I will call 111

Hope you're ok op

QOD · 12/02/2019 21:07

Quickly do the glass test, does the rash disappear?
If no get thee to a and e

Have you flown lately or been very sedentary? Is the rash hot?

claracluck78 · 12/02/2019 21:08

A&E

I had sepsis 2 years ago from a leg infection. Headache, shivering and mottled skin shouldn't be ignored

Hope you get seen ASAP OP

goose1964 · 12/02/2019 21:08

Not a medical type but if the rash does not disappear when you press it get to A&E, it sounds like you could have sepsis. At least ring 111

catgirl1976 · 12/02/2019 21:10

Done the glass test and the rash disappeared so that’s good. Rash isn’t hot and I’ve not been abroad. I will call 111. If I don’t respond it will be because I’ve either gone to bed or the walk in depending on what 111 say. Thank you all Flowers

As with others I'd suggest 111

petrifiedprawn · 12/02/2019 21:13

Please go straight to A and E. I also think this is sepsis and you need medical treatment asap. I recently got chatting to someone who has had sepsis and she told me one of the symptoms is a lower than usual temperature (although not in each case). Don't wait on 111 - you'll lose time. Go to hospital. I hope you're okay Flowers

Dimedollar · 12/02/2019 21:14

Glad you're making the call, that's what I was going to say. I don't think mottling like that should be ignored.

PerkingFaintly · 12/02/2019 21:16

I hope with those symptoms 111 will dispatch you to hospital for tests, at the very least.

www.nhs.uk/conditions/sepsis/

Septic shock
In some cases, symptoms of more severe sepsis or septic shock (when your blood pressure drops to a dangerously low level) develop soon after.
These can include:
feeling dizzy or faint
a change in mental state – such as confusion or disorientation
diarrhoea
nausea and vomiting
slurred speech
severe muscle pain
severe breathlessness
less urine production than normal – for example, not urinating for a day
cold, clammy and pale or mottled skin
loss of consciousness

Averysmallcasserole · 12/02/2019 21:16

Crikey. Hope you’re ok

Lovingbenidorm · 12/02/2019 21:18

Could be sepsis or meningitis, sorry to be dramatic but I think if you are feeling really crappy you really should go to A&E.
If it’s not that serious then that’s an evening ruined
Not trying to be alarmist but these things can have very dramatic consequences.
Hope you are ok x

petrifiedprawn · 12/02/2019 21:18

www.nhs.uk/conditions/sepsis/ sorry to sound dramatic in my post - here's a link to NHS website about sepsis x

Dyingforchocolate · 12/02/2019 21:20

Agree with everyone else go to a & e or at least phone 111. Hope you're ok Flowers

FiveRedBricks · 12/02/2019 21:20

111 will likely send an ambulance OP. Your symptoms fit sepsis.

whatsleep · 12/02/2019 21:22

Hope you’ve got some medical advice OP Flowers

miggeldysthepres · 12/02/2019 21:22

AnyFucker · 12/02/2019 21:22

Are you recently had your period ? Could you have forgotten a tampon .

AnyFucker · 12/02/2019 21:23

*have

PleaseJustSayNo · 12/02/2019 21:23

It looks a lot like bruises in the pics, do you normally bruise easily? What's your blood pressure like, do you know?

Have you drank plenty and have you checked your temperature?

catgirl1976 · 12/02/2019 21:24

I’m on my period but I’ve check and I can’t feel a tampon. Ringing 111 now so I’ll be offline either getting checked or getting some sleep

Thanks for the advice everyone
