Did I over react over my slapped arse!

I thought this girl was totally innapropriate but another friend of mine said I over reacted. So I am putting it to the court of aibu.
My friend has a new friend who came out with us on a night out. New friend is a bit younger than us but comes off as slightly immature.
The day after we were feeling worse for wear, I was going face down on the bed and new friend came over and slapped me so hard in the arse, I kid you not , it left an actual hand print and I was wearing jeans.
I was shocked and shouted "what the fuck are you doing". She was very apologetic but I cannot understand why she did this. She said it's a term of endearment.

Friend thinks I shouldn't have been so harsh.
But WTF! Is it normally to slap people on the arse, especially people you Barry know.
This is fairly light-hearted btw.

YANBU, I'd be super pissed off as well

LilaJude · 12/02/2019 09:54

YANBU, that’s not appropriate. She didn’t know you well enough and it was obviously too hard! At least she was apologetic though.

EmeraldShamrock · 12/02/2019 09:56

I'd shout at her too, though she was probably still slightly drunk, seen you on your stomach a bum in sight and had an overwhelming impulse to slap it. Grin
I hope your bum feels better.

Aquamarine1029 · 12/02/2019 09:57

I would have been FURIOUS. Totally unacceptable and grossly inappropriate. I wouldn't be in her company ever again.

thefirst48 · 12/02/2019 09:58

Oh come on I'm sure it was in jest like get your arse out of bed! She probably didn't realise how hard she smacked you. You made a big deal out of it there and then, leave it as that now.

Cheeeeislifenow · 12/02/2019 10:01

Thefirst48

Would it be funny if she slapped me across the face?
My friend said it was so loud that the noise scared her, it sounded like a stack of magazines being dropped!
A little tap would be one thing( though I still wouldn't like it(
But she put real force into it!

Mountain out of a molehill.

thefirst48 · 12/02/2019 10:06

Stop overreacting she didn't slap your face but your bum. Obviously she has different boundaries to you, not the end of the world.

Myheartbelongsto · 12/02/2019 10:09

If it was hard then I'd be annoyed, other than that wouldn't be bothered.

Some of the best set I've ever had started with a slapped arse.

Myheartbelongsto · 12/02/2019 10:09

See not set ffs

Cheeeeislifenow · 12/02/2019 10:12

Like I said it's light hearted,so I would never be rude or nasty to the woman.
I didn't say she slapped My face. I asked would that be seen as harmless fun?
And it's my bum! I don't think it's odd my boundaries include please don't slapped my arse unless I explicitly ask for it!

I’ve done this to friends and vice versa (about 15 years ago), but it would only ever be lightly, and with a ‘come on get your ass out of bed’. Never would it be done hard, and only because we’ve been friends all our lives!

thefirst48 · 12/02/2019 10:17

But she didn't slap your face your trying to make it bigger than is!

EmeraldShamrock · 12/02/2019 10:19

The force was wrong and put of order. Is she very strong or was it passive aggressive, how was she before she hit you.

diddl · 12/02/2019 10:20

I don't think that slapping someone's arse hard enough to leave a mark has ever been a term of endearment has it?

PBo83 · 12/02/2019 10:22

I think your reaction will stop her from ever doing it again so problem solved. Obviously there was no ill intent just a poorly executed bit of tomfoolery.

She assaulted you. Some people on Mumsnet are insane.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 12/02/2019 10:27

I think “WTF are you doing?” is perfectly apt for someone slapping you hard on the arse.

Wtf is wrong with some of you?

CrabbyPatty · 12/02/2019 10:31

I agree it's out of order. But she's probably learned her lesson. My husband once slapped mine hard in public when drunk and I thought that was out of order too and told him as much.

OfficeSlave · 12/02/2019 10:31

No, not unreasonable at all. A near stanger, slapping your bum really hard is really weird. Shes either someone who is too much/overfamiliar or was still drunk. Or both! Its good that you voiced your 'WTF?!'

IncrediblySadToo · 12/02/2019 10:31

Being slapped on the bum might annoy me, it might not, it would depend on the person and the situation.

I’d have probably burst into tears from the shock if it had hurt.

I would certainly have asked her WTAF she thought she was doing and told her to fuck off.

A misjudged playful slap I could live with even if I didn’t know/like her, but no one gets a free pass on hurting me.

shockthemonkey · 12/02/2019 10:32

A term of endearment is a nickname you use for someone you feel close to -- for instance, "darling" or "sweety-pie".

A slap on the arse can be many things, but one thing it never can be is a term of endearment.

theknackster · 12/02/2019 10:33

In our house any sort of raised bum is an open invitation to getting a slap, sometimes it's a race to get to the bum before some other house member. Maybe she grew up in a similar house Shock.

Drum2018 · 12/02/2019 10:34

I think its very inappropriate for someone to do that. If it had been a man would people think it was ok? I doubt it, so it shouldn't be any different for another woman to do it when she doesn't even know op that well. You did right to call her out on it. Might make her think twice next time she feels like walloping someone.
