AIBU: Teenage friend put on the sex offenders list for 'pantsing' someone at school

Last week one of my 15YO DS's closest friends pulled a classmate's gym shorts down in the changing rooms as a prank and unfortunately his pants also came down and he was momentarily exposed. The boy then escalated this and the friend has now been isolated for a day, then excluded for a day and also put on the sex offenders list!!

AIBU to think this is a massive over reaction by the school?? He is a lovely boy who is usually really well behaved and generally high achieving academically.

I'm wondering that this will demonise him so much that he will start thinking he is actually a bad person and it will be enough to send him down the wrong path.

Give over

funnylittlefloozie · 11/02/2019 23:06

Cool story bro....

Redglitter · 11/02/2019 23:06

Sounds like its been hugely exagerated. Even if the Police were involved he wouldnt be on the sex offenders register this quickly.

Id take what you've been told with a huge pinch of salt

YouCantBeSirius · 11/02/2019 23:07

Didn't happen

Neonata · 11/02/2019 23:07

I've heard all of this from my DS as he was there when it happened. It was to a boy they are quite friendly with at school but don't hang around with outside of school.

My DS's friend told him of all the consequences in a phone call over the weekend.

Well you missed out a whole section about his arrest and court attendance.

CrabbityRabbit · 11/02/2019 23:08

Sounds like bollocks to me. No pun intended.

QuintadiMalago · 11/02/2019 23:08

@FlibbertyGiblets

Never heard of rumours and gossip? Or just excited by the scenario?

NotAgainSilly · 11/02/2019 23:10
Hmm
BartonHollow · 11/02/2019 23:10

That's not how the SOR works. HTH.

OnTheHop · 11/02/2019 23:11

Well I dare say the ‘prank’ has been under-reported and / or the consequences exaggerated.

Pulling down someone’s shorts and pants: prank or bullying? What happened then I wonder, to the lad stood in a boys changing room in front of everyone else? Perhaps none of them laughed.... and I wonder why he ‘escakated It’?

Redglitter · 11/02/2019 23:12

My DS's friend told him of all the consequences in a phone call over the weekend

Still doesnt make it true. Its totally impossible for him to be on the SOR in the space of a week.

FlibbertyGiblets · 11/02/2019 23:12

Quint that is a very kind offer. I DID know but have forgotten Blush.

FlibbertyGiblets · 11/02/2019 23:12

FlibbertyGiblets · 11/02/2019 23:13

Nope.

FlibbertyGiblets · 11/02/2019 23:13

Nah.

HeathRobinson · 11/02/2019 23:13

Prank - or how to humiliate someone.

funnylittlefloozie · 11/02/2019 23:14

I think either your DS is fibbing to you, or his friend is fibbing to him. Teenage boys make up all sorts of crap. Spreading rumours that someone is on the SOR is a malicious thing to do though... i would tell your DS to shut up about that one.

On the merest off chance that some if this contains a grain of truth.... you may be horrified to know that there are many charming, intelligent, nice-looking and quite VILE sex offenders out there. Should we let the well-educated, good-looking ones off?

ILoveMaxiBondi · 11/02/2019 23:15

Arrested, charged, and in court all within the space of a week? Wow.

Chickychoccyegg · 11/02/2019 23:15

if anything the school might have told him behaviour like that could lead to being on the SOR, to give him something to think about

FromDespairToHere · 11/02/2019 23:16

Sex offenders register my arse. Pun very much intended.
