To ask Pre-School if all children are vaccinated?

New account, been off a while.

My DS is 22 months, he will be starting pre school in April.

He is fully vaccinated (even the flu jab).

AIBU to ask the pre school if all children are vaccinated as ideally I'd prefer my DS not to be around unvaccinated children if I can help it.

YABU theres no way the preschool will legally be able to pass on other peoples childrens medical info to you

dementedpixie · 04/02/2019 21:20

How do you think they will know the vaccination status of all the children?

Bambamber · 04/02/2019 21:21

What is your concern if your son is fully vaccinated?

CoffeeRunner · 04/02/2019 21:21

They will not tell you. You are not entitled to know the medical histories of other children.

It’s very unlikely that the entire class will be fully vaccinated. Most - probably. All - unlikely.

RedHelenB · 04/02/2019 21:21

Then don't send him there. A pre school couldn't let you have this information assuming you live in the UK.

CluedoAddict · 04/02/2019 21:21

Even if they knew that information they wouldn't be able to tell you.

Smoothyloopy · 04/02/2019 21:22

They won't give you that info. Also if your DS is vaccinated what's your issue? He's protected.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 04/02/2019 21:22

What @Ribbonsonabox says. They will absolutely not tell you. I've read of schools on here who won't even pass on the names of children in the class, let alone potentially sensitive (think immunocompromised children who can't be vaccinated) medical details.

Cranky17 · 04/02/2019 21:22

What’s the point? They might all be vaccinated but they might not, then what will you do. What about children who start after your ds? What will you expect from the preschool then

AngelontopoftheTree · 04/02/2019 21:22

YABU theres no way the preschool will legally be able to pass on other peoples childrens medical info to you

^^Exactly what I was going to say! No, you're not entitled to know that.

Daisiesinavase · 04/02/2019 21:23

Your DS has been vaccinated. Why don't you want him to be with children who haven't been vaccinated?

Jackshouse · 04/02/2019 21:23

Where did you get the flu vaccine for a under two year old please?

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/02/2019 21:23
Hmm
Furrycushion · 04/02/2019 21:24

They won't know, but you have done the best you can for your DS and he is very unlikely to get any of the diseases (flu the most likely, I would have thought). You can't protect him from everything - what about toddler groups, play dates, supermarkets. You are in a much better position than someone who can't have their DC vaccinated. I won't mention those that could but don't Angry

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 04/02/2019 21:24

🙄

InDubiousBattle · 04/02/2019 21:25

I very much doubt they would tell you. Even if they could say a generic yes or no which wouldn't identify any particular child it would only take a new child to come to school for them to change the stance and break their confidentiality. Why don't you want your son to be around unvaccinated dc? Doesn't he go to soft play/toddler groups, baby classes etc?

TiredMama90 · 04/02/2019 21:25

All I am asking for is a "yes all are" or "no some arent".

Not a "no Timmy isn't vaccinated".

dementedpixie · 04/02/2019 21:25

They won't know though

TiredMama90 · 04/02/2019 21:26

When I filled out the initial forms, there was a section which asked what vaccinations my DS had.

TheVanguardSix · 04/02/2019 21:26

YABU.
And if your son is fully vaccinated, what are you worried about? He’s protected. It’s the unvaccinated kids who are at risk. Herd immunity will protect them- thanks to vaccinated kids like your DS.

Haworthia · 04/02/2019 21:27

Why would they even know? I’ve never been asked by preschool about vaccination history.

User383673 · 04/02/2019 21:27

If your son is fully vaccinated what’s the issue? I would understand if he could be vaccinated for any reason but that isn’t the case.

I think people who don’t vaccinate their kids are selfish, irresponsible and stupid, because they endanger their own kids and compromise herd immunity. But if your kid doesn’t depend on herd immunity I don’t get why you’d be concerned.

AmIRightOrAMeringue · 04/02/2019 21:27

They don't and won't ask parents if their kids are vaccinated

Even if they did the parents could always just lie or fill in the red books thrmselves

Personally I think that they should be able to ask but I'm not sure they can and I'm not sure anyone would be obliged to answer, as the law stands

Your son isn't a tiny baby and he is vaccinated so he should be fine.

I feel sorry for those kids under 1 who go to nursery with unvaccinated kids (where they arent vaccinated due to parents decision only not medical or religious grounds) - as for them it could be truly dangerous

User383673 · 04/02/2019 21:27

*couldn’t be

Crunchymum · 04/02/2019 21:27

So if they are not all vaccinated you won't send your child there?

Can you kindly explain your objection, given the fact your child is full vaccinated?
