To hate Family Guy?

Dh is watching family guy and I hate the programme. It’s often sick and crosses that time in what I find funny, but this episode in particular is the one where the baby is pregnant by the dog! The dog hits the baby in the stomach when he’s told.

Just had a row with dh as I told him to turn it off, he was laughing at the ‘jokes’ and I don’t know I just find it all so distasteful.

Waiting to be told I’m a prude and need to get a sense of humour as I’m sure I will do.

I'm not a fan and I love animated series. South Park, the boondocks, futurama ect. I just don't find anything clever about family guy.

Ah, and now I have ‘if you ever put butter on a pop tart’ in my head! I love Family Guy. Watched it from very early on when we discovered it at university so I understand the in jokes and references completely, which always helps. That, and having a fairly edgy sense of humour. We can’t all like the same things!

But why don't you come to an agreement that you decide what your dh can watch and he decides what you watch, that will be fair censorship 😁

Love Futurama and especially the Simpsons which can be quite sophisticated.

Family guy is boring, slow, lazy and clunky. They know it's not that good so they push it in the hope of at least getting the slapstick / shock value laughs.

You can dislike whatever you like OP, but you are being very unreasonable to make your DH turn it off. Just go into another room??

This. You can hate it but you can't make him turn it off just because you think it's awful. Do something else. I'm sure you do things he hates too.

As it stands I find it hilarious, the band one is my favourite too. It's excellent, but it is intended to be close to or over the line. It's fine to hate it, not fine to try and make your husband stop watching it.

I haven’t watched it for ages but it has had some great episodes. I have genuinely enjoyed watching but i absolutely can’t stand the child predator character though to the point where it ruins it.

i understand the argument about how there shouldn’t be rules put on comedy but I can’t (and I have tried) find a way to make that argument work with jokes around childhood abuse (especially sexual abuse) I just can’t understand why anyone would find it funny or writers would want to write it.
