A&E?

I have no idea if I'm imagining things but I'm panicked.

DS is almost 2. He hasn't been sleeping properly for a week, he's knackered, has had a cold/bad chest and I think has been teething.

For the past 15 minutes he's been looking a bit drowsy, has slightly purple cheeks, and has been going through about 30 sec phases on and off where he's shaking and breathing faster.

Do I ring 999?

If you are very worried then do. Otherwise call 111 and get advise.

Better to be safe than sorry.

erja · 31/01/2019 12:34

He's now sleeping, he's just whines until he's fell asleep sat up.

BlueBuilding · 31/01/2019 12:34

I would OP. Get him an ambulance and get him checked.

Hope he's ok

SubparOwl · 31/01/2019 12:34

I'd ring 999.

BudgiePie · 31/01/2019 12:34

111 is what you need. Or phone your GP.

Namechangedforthis79 · 31/01/2019 12:36

I would take him to A&E. I wouldn't call an ambulance personally or bother with 111. They'll only tell you to go to A&E.

Kukumbr · 31/01/2019 12:38

Yes A&E or ring an ambulance, I’d take no chances at that age especially as his breathing is getting quicker. Hope he is ok, thinking of you Flowers

WinkyisbackontheButterBeer · 31/01/2019 12:39

Can you rouse him.
A and e if so.
999 if not.

Hope he is ok Flowers

Fiona0x · 31/01/2019 12:42

Ring 111, even if he's sleeping and seems ok I'd ring them. This happened to my toddler and he had bacterial tonsillitis. I called 111 and they advised to rake him to urgent care and he was admitted to hospital, only for the evening but it's still scary.

Call them. Big hugs Flowers

Neverunderfed · 31/01/2019 12:43

Can you drive and are you near a hospital? If you are I would head off as 111 will tell you to go and get him checked anyway.

Quartz2208 · 31/01/2019 12:43

if you are worried call 111 to get advice they will be able to decide if an ambulance is needed

babysharkah · 31/01/2019 12:44

I'd go to a and E tbh.

Madratlady · 31/01/2019 12:44

I’d call 111, depending on his symptoms they’ll direct you to A&E (via ambulance if needed) or you’ll get an urgent appointment

DartmoorDoughnut · 31/01/2019 12:45

I’d call 999 and get him checked over via the paramedics, they’ll take him in if needed. I wouldn’t drive. I was told my our GP to take our 4yr old in to A&E as he possibly had concussion (some delightful child had kicked him in the head at nursery the day before and he’d then started vomiting, I thought he was ill but couldn’t be sure). That drive (45mins) was terrifying as I was so worried and I broke most if not all speed limits.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 31/01/2019 12:46

Have you checked his temperature? Has he had any medication?

BeanTownNancy · 31/01/2019 12:46

My 2yo is much the same today. High temperature, won't eat, won't hold his head up without crying, keeps falling asleep and has on and off rapid breathing.

Called the doctor about 20 minutes ago and they had a cancellation at 13.40 so have managed to fit him in. If they hadn't, I would have taken him to urgent care.

TadaTralala · 31/01/2019 12:48

yes, get him checked. Hope all is ok.

crispysausagerolls · 31/01/2019 12:50

111 are fucking useless

Oysterbabe · 31/01/2019 12:52

I'd take him to A&E.

MyKingdomForBrie · 31/01/2019 12:54

I would definitely seek help, better safe than sorry. A&E never mind seeing little ones.

LittleSwede · 31/01/2019 12:55

What Winky said, if you can rouse drive to A&E now,if not phone 999.

Hopefully Op has already done one of these as I'm typing.

Hope he is ok.

erja · 31/01/2019 12:56

Ambulance on its way.

OP posts:
Neverunderfed · 31/01/2019 12:57

Keeping every crossed that all is well. Not much scarier than a poorly child.

Hugglessnuggles · 31/01/2019 12:59

Hope he’s ok OP X

DartmoorDoughnut · 31/01/2019 13:00

Hope everything is ok. Just in case grab a bag and pack his favourite toy/comforter, a spare change of underwear/top for you and nappies obvs, they’ll have everything he needs but I got caught out last week as in the panic I forgot my sodding phone and couldn’t remember DH’s number Blush
