Posted something for sale on Facebook earlier and had several replies within an hour or so, quickly arranged for a lady to collect the item tomorrow morning for the advertised price. Someone else messaged me offering half the asking price and when I politely declined and told them it was sold pending collection, sent a delightful reply:

“Lol whatever Must b nice to be able to sit on ur arse at home selling things and not having to work if ur able to arrange collection on a Tuesday morning”

I have a job, I just don’t work Tuesdays Grin

Just thought I’d share this CFery Wink

Was selling a bedframe a few months ago in a good condition for £20.00. It costs more but so many people buyers want stuff for free. So one woman sent me a message through FB she wants to buy it for £10 and when she come to collect it. I said, thanks for the interest but I am waiting for the confirmation from one person who really wants to buy it. She then persisted sending me messages that she was so eager to buy it. I didn't even agree to her offer. Anyway, it was sold for £20 to a lovely couple. She sent me a message that she was gutted. Then I checked her name and she lives in a very posh area (millionaires part of the town) and had a very highly paid job. He daughter was at uni sonI wonder if that was for her student house but her uni is miles away from home town. I couldn't believe how cheeky she was.

I was once sold shit from a CF.

I advertised on our school fb page asking if anyone had the sports kit DS1 needed. It was out of stock at the shop. I specified size, and specified it needed the school logo on it. person replied saying she had exactly that. I asked how much, she quoted £5 higher than what it would have been brand new. I swallowed it and made the transfer via bank transfer as requested.

She dumped the kit in a shopping bag on my doorstep. It was fully grown adult sized- not 5 year old DS size. It was stained. It was torn. and it was NOT logoed in the school logo.

I was in the middle of a bout of PND at that stage as DS2 was a new born. It totally unravelled me.

We gave away a piano. Among the responses:

I come in 10 minutes will it go in Saxo? No, it weighs 400 lbs and it's 4 feet high.

Is a Bechstein? No.

Can you deliver to Nottingham (60 miles away)? No, collection only. I'll give a fiver. You're blocked.

You'll have to get it tuned. No.

After it went, there were about 5-6 abusive messages about crying children and so forth. I passed the arson threat to the police.

NorksAreMessy · 30/01/2019 19:58

DS (22) put his very creaky, slightly rusty electronic drum kit on FB selling for £30.
When the chap came to collect, DS said he was so completely lovely, and the drums were going to be used for a community music workshop that he said ‘nah, don’t worry’ about the money.

Sensible mother had a go saying ‘you don’t know he was telling the truth, you have been very gullible’

DS vindicated, he STILL gets messages saying how much the drums meant to them , and even a happy new year message.

My emotions are confused :)

I sold a fairly big desk on gumtree and bloke asked me would it fit in his car.
Depends mate. How big is your car?!
I explained that i didn't think it would fit in my similar sized car but he decided to give it a go.
Now if you're going to try to get a big desk in a Ford Fiesta, you need all the space you can spare, but no he turned up with 2 enormous child seats in the back seat (thankfully without children in them) then looked surprised that the desk wouldn't fit.
In the end i agreed to deliver it in my husband's larger car but charged him £10

Tams321 · 30/01/2019 20:04

😂😂 we were selling some large rugs recently and someone messaged asking us to sell them for more than half the price to them becasue they didn’t actually like them! Unbelievable!

Onecutefox · 30/01/2019 20:12

I once offered a free juicer on Gumtree. It was hardly ever used but I wanted to ged rid of it as no-one wanted to buy it. I offered as free but asked for a few coins for my children's pocket money. Same day a woman sent me a message with an interest. She asked if by any chance we could deliver it. We were going into the town anyway and her address was on the way. So we brought it to her house (a big house in the city centre). The woman was very glad as it was for her student daughter at Oxford. Of course she didn't even give a penny. Some people are so stingy that I am embarrassed for them. Not like I would accept the penny but she could have offered a pound or two.

Onecutefox · 30/01/2019 20:17

Another one. Sold a Harry Potter book on Gumtree. Had arranged a pick up at 7:30am. I woke up, got dressed and heard a car stopped near our place. There was a huge Range Rover outside at 7:10am. The book must have been a real bargain Grin.

Bluelonerose · 30/01/2019 20:17

I try to advertise to my friends before strangers.
I've got rid of quite a bit by saying if you give me £5 you can come collect if you give me £10 I'll drop it round. (Only for friends though)

Onecutefox · 30/01/2019 20:18

Some CFs are just unbelievable shameless CFs.

ScreamingValenta · 30/01/2019 20:20

will it go in Saxo? No, it weighs 400 lbs and it's 4 feet high.

Laughing my head off at this! (We used to have a Saxo) Grin

MrLovebucket · 30/01/2019 20:23

Put an item on FB selling page with an asking price of £140 (well under what it's worth). Got this response within 10 minutes from some bloke "Will pick up today for £100 cash" Erm, no you fucking won't.

FB freebie site, one woman basically says "yes please" to everything and anything then asks for it to be delivered because she doesn't drive. Admin have now caught on to her and I think she's been kicked out of the group.

brizzledrizzle · 30/01/2019 20:23

Or 'can you keep it till payday for me'.

That's cheeky! I have asked similar but I've asked 'please can you let me know if you haven't managed to sell it as I am interested at the price mentioned but don't have the money for another few days'

Ellie56 · 30/01/2019 20:23

I advertised a guitar on Ebay stating quite clearly the price and that it was pick up only and cash on collection.

I got a message: "Best cash sale price can collect asap" Hmm

Onecutefox · 30/01/2019 20:27

GirlFliesHome - that's disgusting. Flowers The parent is really a CFC (cheeky fucker cunt). How else can you can that despicable seller?

Figmentofimagination · 30/01/2019 20:34

I have been selling a few things recently on FB - mainly baby stuff and DVDs. I've had people ask how much to post DVDs to places, then complain when I give them the price. Well what do you expect when you want to buy 7 seasons of a tv show that came out in early 2000's when box sets were chunkier. It weighs a bit, it's going to cost a bit, even splitting them into smaller parcels.
I'm selling a lot of DVDs for £1, but reducing the price if buying more than one. I'd put an advert up for 18 superhero DVDs for £15. I get a load of voice messages (dyslexic so has trouble spelling) on messenger from someone 2 hours drive away wanting to have them, if I could just hold onto them for nearly 2 weeks till pay day. I said no, said I didn't feel comfortable with it, plus it wouldn't be worth it for him as he would have to get here by train and it would cost a lot. Get even more voice messages begging me to hold on to them, he would even pay me £25 for them as he is a collector. So I agreed. Check he's still coming the day before only to be told it's too expensive to travel by train so won't be buying them now.

Careofcell44 · 30/01/2019 20:38

I received some jigsaws for my step-son from freecycle but they were too difficult for him, a lady turned up and needed a bag to put them in, complained it had taken a long time on the bus and asked if I'd take her home. She huffed off when I told I didn't drive.
Two days later she messaged that a piece was missing and could I look for it, when I told her they hadn't been opened here she wanted to know the contact details of the person I'd got them from so she could ask her.

I was offering some offcuts of Lino for free. Big enough to line a toy box and/or drawers etc. Someone asks if I can post it and will pay the postage! I politely pointed out it would be cheaper to go and buy a remnant than do that! Also selling a lunchbox for £1 and everyone wants it posted! It’s on Facebook not eBay - I’m not wasting my time and packaging for £1!!

SaltySeaBird · 30/01/2019 20:50

I advertised a free cupboard before Christmas and said it was free for quick collection.

Somebody said can I save it for a few weeks and deliver it (free) after Christmas. I politely said no, I needed it gone and it was collection only and got told “thanks you fucking bitch I really need it but don’t have space because of my Christmas tree and I don’t have a fucking car”

Because that makes me want to help you...

SirGawain · 30/01/2019 20:51

Years ago my car failed it’s MoT. Lady Gawain mentioned to a colleague that we were going to scrap it. She said she would buy it from us, (her idea), explained the extent of the defects and we agreed £40. When she found out what it would cost to to repair she turned stroppy and claimed the an AA inspector had said she should sue us. I’m not sure if it was a try-on but we certainly weren’t trying to cheat her.

TheCanyon · 30/01/2019 20:53

Our towns selling page admins are serious business. The rules file for the group is amazing, there's to be NO offer me a price, no bartering for items under £10 and for items over that if seller says no by fuck someone else better not ask, no queue jumping (if someone asks a question, you HAVE to give them 24 hours to respond), you MUST have a profile pic and your location as our town or yer not getting in.

The amount of folk that's been banned for flouting the rules, its a wonder anyones left.
