Clutching the bump ?

Ok normally I do not give a fuck about the Royals but I have just seen another picture of MM clutching the bump again and it's made me irrationally annoyed. WTF is this holding her bump ALL the time about ?

GottenGottenGotten · 28/01/2019 05:34

Yeah, clearly she does it all the time.

It wouldn't be the media choosing those particular photos out of a selection. They only ever take one....

steff13 · 28/01/2019 05:35

It's probably just they use, because they think it's cute or sweet it whatever. I did rub my bumps all the time though. Talked to them too.

IMakeNoPromises · 28/01/2019 05:37

I have a feeling I was probably clutching my bump just as much as her when I was pregnant, I just wasn't photographed doing it

redexpat · 28/01/2019 05:39

I did it all the time to help my back. But no one took any photos of me!

MaggieAndHopey · 28/01/2019 05:45

Seriously. Why do you care.

I think I used to touch my bump a lot too, with both pregnancies. It was involuntary but I think was partly a protective impulse, partly something to do with self-comfort. What's the problem?

Blessingsdragon1 · 28/01/2019 05:45

True never thought of the media bias probably explains a lot of it - thanks x

And as I said I don't normally give a fig but at the moment am having to check certain websites for work and there are a lot of pictures over different platforms - believe me 🤣

We are all different. I didn't do the bump holding.

I wasn't a Geriatric patient, my guess is she waited a long time maybe thought it may not happen and that's behind the bump holding.

I wouldn't let it bother you.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 28/01/2019 05:57

It's not just MM though is it? All pregnant celebrities can't have a picgure taken without cradling the bump. It honestly looks preposterous.

While I agree there is a LOT of media bias in the photos, I also wonder if this could be a normal reaction by a pregnant woman when faced with a crowd of people, many armed with cameras, shouting out to her.

Personally, I would find that a little intimidating although I would like to think I could cope with it when the cameras were on me. I could definitely see myself trying to protect my bump in that way.

Pernickity1 · 28/01/2019 06:06

YANBU OP. I never walked around grabbing at my pregnant stomach during any of my pregnancies, bizarre.

PBobs · 28/01/2019 06:11

Not sure I'd call MM a geriatric. Seems a bit harsh and ageist.

EverySing · 28/01/2019 06:13

Like I said to OP, try not to let things bother you, going through life being so offended.

Skiphopnjump · 28/01/2019 06:14

A geriatric pregnancy is the medical term used for a pregnancy carried by a mother over the age of 35. Meghan is having a geriatric pregnancy.

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 28/01/2019 06:14

I think sometimes it's an unconscious reflex to rub or hold your bump; I have a pregnant friend who is the least pretentious person on earth but who held her bump pretty much all of the way through her pregnancy.

Not sure I could hate someone for something so innocuous.

TchoupiEtDoudou · 28/01/2019 06:16

I used to put a protective arm around my bumps a lot when out and about in the Paris metro and oddly when crossing the road (roads are awful here). In crowds it could help. Crossing roads it wouldn't make the blindest bit of difference if I got hit but it wasn't a conscious decision

speakout · 28/01/2019 06:19

WTF???

cricketmum84 · 28/01/2019 06:20

I held my bump a lot more with 2nd pg as I had spd and I found it eased the hip pain. I did wonder when I saw the latest media bashing if she might be suffering from something like that?

AsdaCentralAisle · 28/01/2019 06:21

All of the above plus it could be that the baby is kicking the shit out of her with all the noise.

Whatever, it’s just another stick for the media to beat a woman with. Now she’s ‘pregnanting’ wrong Hmm

Bungleinthejungle · 28/01/2019 06:25

Poor woman. She's only doing what tons of women do. And YY about the press skewing stories/photos etc.

UBVU.

Bungleinthejungle · 28/01/2019 06:25

Itsallamysterytome · 28/01/2019 06:28

When I was trying to concentrate on a task, or conversation, and the baby was moving about rubbing my belly settled the baby and stopped me focusing on them moving as much.
I also loved doing it because it was a reaction to my contact, acknowledgment that they were ok.
Maybe her baby is just a lively one and she is settling him or her.

Agree about subconscious protection too though.

Sunnysidegold · 28/01/2019 06:29

Imagine all those photos being taken. Hundreds I'm sure! Even if she just hugged it for a second or rested her hand on it that's be the shot they'd use.

PBobs · 28/01/2019 06:32

A geriatric pregnancy is the medical term used for a pregnancy carried by a mother over the age of 35. Meghan is having a geriatric pregnancy.

That may be the case but the tone of the comment did suggest negativity around the term.

pictish · 28/01/2019 06:38

God forbid she should touch her own pregnant stomach and be captured by the flock of photographers that follow her every, single, microscopic move eh? Of all the sticks to beat Megan Markle with, this one’s the most petty yet.
Yes she is very pretty isn’t she? And she married a prince and has wealth and privilege beyond your wildest dreams.

Oh well.
