Sproutingcorm

Scientist here- it's the same Helium.

WeeM · 27/01/2019 22:14

Sounds great to me even without the balloon but if you’re looking to replace with something a rainbow eraser maybe?

I’m quite liking the idea of a rainbow theme...may steal!

TotHappy · 27/01/2019 22:16

Yes, some colourful seeds? I like rainbow theme too!

Merryoldgoat · 27/01/2019 22:18

Party was lovely thank you - hope your DD enjoys hers as much as my son enjoyed his.

AlpacaLypse · 27/01/2019 22:19

Thanks for dumping the helium balloons. I work outdoors in deep countryside and on average find the tatty remnants of balloons tangled into the hedges and trees about three times a week. And that's only on the walking routes. Heaven knows how many more are deep into the woods and the copses.

PyongyangKipperbang · 27/01/2019 22:19

Its the same gas but not the same grade, balloon gas is helium mixed with air and is a by-product from the making of liquid helium.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 27/01/2019 22:22

Thanks to the amazing link provided by @WeeM how about a glittery (or non glittery) bouncy ball? My DD lovesssssss them - she’s almost 3.

Fruitbatdancer · 27/01/2019 22:22

@divgirl2 hilarious!
I am considering giving all kids a light sabre (Star Wars theme) as a take away- do you think that would be ok? (And cake/ little bag of sweets)

RomanyRoots · 27/01/2019 22:23

Please no Helium balloons.
Not just because of the environment, that's bad enough.
We will run out in the near future, I'm sure it's more important to medicine than our fun.

As you were. Thanks

speakout · 27/01/2019 22:27

PyongyangKipperbang

It's all still helium, though, regardless of purity.

cece · 27/01/2019 22:28

I bought cheap kids sunglasses once with a cake and pack of sweets. They went down very well.

Butterfly84 · 27/01/2019 22:43

Sounds good OP.

I would be grateful for my child to receive any party bag. But if I was being picky, I wouldn't pick crayons as I like to get branded crayons, Crayola etc. as they tend to be better and I don't imagine your budget would/should stretch to brands. However saying that, some children don't have any crayons and I'm sure they would appreciate some.

Holiday99 · 27/01/2019 22:50

Yes everything except the paint.
Don't give things like paint, playdoh and slime etc. Too messy.

Holiday99 · 27/01/2019 22:52

Also don't give things like seeds. Not everyone has a garden.

Also my dc was given a kite once. Not a good idea as we don't live near much open space so took a long time until we could go fly them.

Stay away from messy things and things that require parental input/garden/outdoor space etc

Meangirls36 · 27/01/2019 22:56

Make your own rainbow kit? With a picture of a rainbow and some scraps and a little thingy of glue? Then a rainbow pencil topper and some rainbow goo? And a packet of rainbow drops definitely. No balloons just a paper windmill in rainbow colors?

drspouse · 27/01/2019 23:03

Sounds fine except please no helium balloons.
The child will always lose them 30 seconds after going outside and be inconsolable. They fly off and dump their plastic somewhere, probably damaging some marine life.
So please don't!

drspouse · 27/01/2019 23:05

Sorry haven't RTWT!
You can plant seeds at the park, in a window box or in a pot.
We usually get a big pack of books from The Book People, and give that plus cake.

Puggles123 · 27/01/2019 23:06

How many posts about the balloons when OP has already said they aren’t going to include them anymore Confused I think it sounds lovely, and if it’s the paints I am thinking of they are water colours and wash out/off of surfaces easily; craft items are much nicer than toys that probably won’t be played with!

shouldwestayorshouldwego · 27/01/2019 23:14

What about rainbow scratch art It is also available at hobby craft etc. It is not very messy so goes down well with parents.

Pinkbells · 27/01/2019 23:15

Paint is cool, why would anyone mind that? I think it's a lovely party bag.

Holiday99 · 28/01/2019 01:58

I would never give paint.

My dc don't have paint, playdoh, slime etc in our house as we have a small home and we rent and its fully carpeted etc. The only messy craft they do is when they use (fully washable, good quality) felt tips that I can get out of the carpet easily with carpet cleaner.

MrsDrSpencerReid · 28/01/2019 02:10

My DC would love to get a little paint set in a party bag Smile

I did a rainbow party when DD turned 7, instead of party bags I gave each guest a bucket of sidewalk chalk and stuck a thank you label on it in the same theme as the invitations, and tied some curling ribbon around the handle with a little fairy wand. They were such a hit I did the same for DS’s party but with Fireman Sam labels on the buckets instead.

brizzledrizzle · 28/01/2019 02:23

Sounds great, far better than plastic tat that ends up in the bin.

StoppinBy · 28/01/2019 02:38

We only have small birthday parties when we have them so I know everyone well, one year I gave all the kids whistles... the kids loved them, I had a great time chuckling about them and well the parents are somehow still my friends haha, didn't give my daughter one though Wink

StoppinBy · 28/01/2019 02:40

I would not give out little balls of any sort, ours would go straight in the bin as a choking hazard.
