I'd leave off the helium balloon but the rest sounds great

Slothcuddles · 27/01/2019 21:19

Sounds great- especially as you’ve removed the balloons!

Nicpem1982 · 27/01/2019 21:19

@Merryoldgoat i hope your son had a good birthday

We put little bags of marble in party bags once, which went down well with that age group. That could work with the theme?

Nicpem1982 · 27/01/2019 21:37

That's a good idea

missmouse101 · 27/01/2019 21:40

Sounds great! It's brought (as in bring) not bought (as in buy) though. Blush

jessstan2 · 27/01/2019 21:40

Sounds good except the helium balloon, they are hardly environmentally friendly.

All the other stuff is lovely.

glamorousgrandmother · 27/01/2019 21:41

All good except the helium balloon for the reasons stated above.

PurplePotatoes · 27/01/2019 21:42

It sounds absolutely fine to me.

Have to say with any younger siblings around I wouldn't be keen on marbles.

Nicpem1982 · 27/01/2019 21:43

Im not going to buy helium balloons

OP posts:
AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 27/01/2019 21:45

If you put in a balloon please get latex free. Its not a common allergy but its horrible to have.

AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 27/01/2019 21:46

Sorry cross post

Nicpem1982 · 27/01/2019 21:46

No balloons

KC225 · 27/01/2019 21:47

Punch balloons always go down really well - eBay or amazon sell them in bulk.

KC225 · 27/01/2019 21:48

Oppsssss sorry, cross post. Didn't mean to burst you ba(bubble)loon.

Mum2jenny · 27/01/2019 21:49

You can get crayola washable paint which may be safer.

Nicpem1982 · 27/01/2019 21:53

@kc225 hilarious Grin

I remember reading on here that the helium used for medical purposes is not the same as the helium they put in balloons. This could be completely wrong though, would love a scientist to clarify!

DasPepe · 27/01/2019 21:54

It’s funny how people are concerned about wildlife and helium shortage with regards to the balloon yet are completely ok with all other plastic crap.

There is an increasing trend of giving less in party bags - seeing as most of this will only end up in a landfill.

People should consider books: reading or coloring and wooden accessories like crayons etc?

Sproutingcorm · 27/01/2019 21:57

Daspepe if you do a search on here - you will find loads of threads about how to avoid giving plastic tat in party bags so I think things are gradually improving and the message is getting through - hopefully!

Nicpem1982 · 27/01/2019 22:04

Bar the now binned helium balloon my dd would add these items to her growing craft supplies i want to avoid crap

Again im open to ideas for alternatives

Siameasy · 27/01/2019 22:07

Some people put a packet of seeds for the child to plant. Something easy and reliable like a sunflower or nasturtiums (too damn reliable in my opinion😂)

SherbertMelon · 27/01/2019 22:09

Have to say with any younger siblings around I wouldn't be keen on marbles

Yup, I agree with this.

Divgirl2 · 27/01/2019 22:09

I (and everyone else in my class) was once given a live goldfish in a party bag when I was about 7. I loved it, my mum was absolutely furious. We almost had a second party in Petsmart when everyone went to buy bowls and tanks for these unexpected pets (no one had been told in advance).

Don't do that.
