Neighbours dog has just attacked me and DD.

Have had issues with them in the past

They are elderly, with two large breed dogs (think Great Danes?). They cannot control them. Honestly the amount of times I have seen them nearly pull them over in the street/simply pull out of their grasp and go bouncing off and jumping all over people is untrue.

Was walking back from the shop and saw them coming from a distance so I stepped to the side into another neighbours driveway and next thing I know- one of them had pulled out of its owners grasp and came bounding over and knocked DD (who is just about getting confident with her toddling) over.

It was over in seconds- by the time I put the break on the pram (was stood on a slopes drive so it would of ran off into the road) and went to grab DD she was already on the floor the dog barking at her- so I kicked it to get it away, and it bit my leg.

I was furious. Owner very embarrassed an apologetic but I’ve said enough is enough and I would be contacting the police and the RSPCA.

Heaven forbid it bounded on the pram and just decided to bite my 2 week old. It would of taken her head off no doubt.

V shaken and waiting for DH to get home to call the police and RSPCA.

I’ve also messaged his daughter on Facebook

but think OP sounds like she's always hated these dogs

There's a reason OP might have always hated these dogs. If you read the OP you'll find they've always been out of control.

The dogs will likely be seized and destroyed because of this very minor incident. If you support that then that's down to you.

I thoroughly support dogs who knock down children and bite women being seized and destroyed; the sooner the better. If you support dangerous dogs being out on the streets then it's you who needs to have a word with yourself.

Josico58 · 01/02/2019 20:45

@ADropofReality

dogs that knock down children oh FGS! Like I said previously, a little sausage dog could knock down an unstable toddler. So so ridiculous!

And the dog clearly “bit” out of defence of being kicked. OP even said it didn’t break the skin. The dog was likely trying to restrain her from kicking him again. I’m sure if a Great Dane actually bit you, you’d know it.

In my opinion the dog showed no aggressive behaviour. OP is just reaching becuase she’s wanted rid of them for ages.

PengAly · 01/02/2019 21:14

@ADropofReality
Oh come off it already! You seriously would want a dog who ACCIDENTALLY knocked down a toddler- lets remember newly walking toddlers can get knocked down by a slight breeze- to be put down?! He didnt even jump on her or anything, literally just went past. Oh and the bite wasnt an attack it was a dog defending himself from the OP's attack.
It really says a lot of people who hate animals so much that they are happy for innocent ones to be killed.

KissingInTheRain · 01/02/2019 21:51

I love the way the dog lovers doubt the OP’s account, tell other posters they weren’t there so they can’t know what happened...and then declare without any doubt that what happened to the child was an accident!

PengAly · 01/02/2019 22:07

If you read the OP you can tell it was an accident because its involved a bloody great dane! If the great dane WAS agressive and actually attacked then the OP would have had worse then a ripped trouser leg. I am litterally just responding to what the OP wrote

PengAly · 01/02/2019 22:08

But of course @kissingintherain we arent allowed to like our pets right?

BlueSlipperSocks · 01/02/2019 22:12

I'm surprised this thread is still going, especially as GF OP fucked off early.

It seems some hard of thinking people consider a just walking toddler and her mother to have been "attacked" by a very large dog, despite receiving no injuries - Because a just walking toddler managed to fall in the vicinity of a dog 🤷‍♀️ I'm positive this wouldn't have been the first time she had fallen. All just walking toddlers fall, frequently, for no apparent reason.

Let's be honest if a dog of that size was out to attack, that little girl would be no more. Her mother would have been no match for him and her kicking the dog would have inflamed the situation. Still she, or her DD, received no injury from the "attacking" dog.

It's time people engaged their brains, instead of jumping on powerful words in titles, which bear no resemblance to what actually happened.

Just what do posters think the dog, in this "story", did to warrant hysterical screams of "It should be put down"?

BlueSlipperSocks · 01/02/2019 22:19

I love the way the dog lovers doubt the OP’s account, tell other posters they weren’t there so they can’t know what happened...and then declare without any doubt that what happened to the child was an accident

Had the OP described the incident as involving a chi or other small, known snappy dog breed that pushed her DD over, barked and ragged OP's trousers, as she kicked it I could believe it.

A dog the size of a Great Dane attacked causing no injury? Totally ludicrous!

PengAly · 01/02/2019 22:34

Sadly some people on here have such a strong hatred to animals that they jump to suggest them being put down, regardless if they are innocent or not.
Last time i check we share our planet with many other creatures but i supposed some people just refuse to accept that.

KissingInTheRain · 01/02/2019 22:36

This is priceless. A dog’s not out of control or a nuisance unless it kills or causes terrible injury.

OK then...

PengAly · 01/02/2019 22:41

@KissingInTheRain oh ffs why dont you READ the actual posts?

I never said the dog wasnt out of control. I actually agree that the owners did not have control over it and it needs rehoming. I have simply been saying this incident is not an attack and the dog shouldnt be put down.
But i know that you would happily like to see all dogs dissapear, wouldnt you?

PengAly · 01/02/2019 22:44

Because i know you most likly didnt read it, this is from my first post of the thread on page 28:

Now, I agree those dogs are out of control and should be rehomed to an owner who can control them. Them escaping their lead is their owner's fault.

Booboostwo · 01/02/2019 22:48

Hey KissingInTheRain would you like to apologize for your earlier, disablist comments or is all your indignation taken up with poster who misinterpret the OP?

lerrimknowyouretheyir · 01/02/2019 22:56

We haven’t had a parking thread in a while

KissingInTheRain · 01/02/2019 23:10

Hey, Booboo, no. Because I didn’t make any disablist comments. As you well know.

But how about the dog loving poster who actually did laugh at the death of a child? Are you going to challenge her?

PengAly · 01/02/2019 23:13

@KissingInTheRain actually you did and MNHQ removed it because they also considered it disablist which went against the MN rules.

You know very well that wasnt laughing at the death of a child it was laughing at you.

Lizzie48 · 01/02/2019 23:14

Why so much hatred of dogs, @KissingInTheRain ? They are living creatures that give a lot of people so much pleasure, when they're looked after and trained properly, and guide dogs are a lifeline to blind people.

Also, there are other things that people do that are far more dangerous to others. Statistics will show that cars cause far more deaths per year than dogs, shall we ban them?

Regardless, no one on the thread is arguing that dog attacks don't happen, they do and they can have tragic consequences. All we're saying is that what the OP describes is not a dog attack despite the melodramatic title.

KissingInTheRain · 01/02/2019 23:19

No, they didn’t remove a disablist post. They removed a post that dog lovers didn’t like because it pointed out that one of them saying “I much prefer dogs to people” was weird. Which it is.

MN remove far too many posts when whingers complain. I assume they want a quiet life. But most of us can’t be bothered to worry about pointless deletions.

The post mocking the death of a child wasn’t aimed at me. It was just crass. You’ll have to find a better excuse than that.

TenBobNote · 01/02/2019 23:20

KissingInTheRain

This is priceless. A dog’s not out of control or a nuisance unless it kills or causes terrible injury

A dog who, momentarily, got off his lead and became a nuisance to a passer by is a pain in the arse, an annoyance, an untrained dog that has a useless owner, or even just an annoying puppy...None of which warrants being destroyed.

A dog who attacks unprovoked, causing injury, will be put down.

PengAly · 01/02/2019 23:27

Seriously @kissingintherain what is you problem? We get it, you hate dogs. Stop calling people who love them weird.

No, it WAS mocking you and your logic that no other small animals harm. I wrote the post so i know i meant. Last time i checked, mind reading was impossible Hmm

Sorry MN. I posted two usernames, by mistake. I changed my username to post asking for advice about a delicate matter 're my eldest DD, that doesn't involve dogs. Then found a thread already running. My apologies. It was intentional. I'll change back to BlueSlipperSocks

KissingInTheRain · 01/02/2019 23:48

Right.

First, this must be a name change fail by you, because the deleted post was in response to a poster called Blueslippersocks, or similar. Are you appearing under any other names on this thread?

Second, the special needs bit you have just made up. Straightforwardly, that’s a fib by you.

Third, you know perfectly well you said “I much prefer dogs to people”. It’s still there. Look at it. That’s a second fib.

As for me having a “tirade”...that’s a special doggie owners joke, right?
