A) if you were in the USA
B) if you were not in the USA.

I just saw my first one (tourist, on holiday). And was a bit surprised by how eeeeewww I felt.

I would think that they're entitled to their opinion.

I don't like Trump, but the attitudes here show why he won. How do you think people will vote when you talk about them like this?

Honestly, you're calling these people ignorant, yet you're judging someone's entire personality on a hat?

HeronLanyon · 25/01/2019 04:22

Yes I do judge people by their professed political views. Doesn’t mean I dont have friends with differing politics. I expect others to have views about my politics ! I certainly have views about extreme and discriminatory political views.

user1497863568 · 25/01/2019 04:24

Someone who would stick me and my loved ones in a concentration camp without a flicker of guilt... even though it's those past actions which have led to the societal problems.

TheCounter · 25/01/2019 04:36

"Honestly, you're calling these people ignorant, yet you're judging someone's entire personality on a hat?"

Yup. Couldn't be less interested. Someone on here even suggested that they wouldn't feel safe in the company of someone wearing one of those hats. Holy bejeezus.
I wouldn't feel safe around anyone that has those kinda reactions....to a hat lol

helacells · 25/01/2019 04:50

Klan member
Racist
Inbred
Etc...

SusieQ5604 · 25/01/2019 04:57

I would immediately think how stupid they were and would want to slap them. Am in the US. The Orange Imbecile embarrasses and infuriates me no matter where in the world I am.

MrsTerryPratcett · 25/01/2019 05:31

It's all very well saying it's just a hat or it's only politics. But they agree with and support a confessed sexual abuser. Who has said numerous repulsive things, including mocking physical disabilities. Yuk.

missperegrinespeculiar · 25/01/2019 05:31

I don't get this, some people say, "but they are entitled to their opinion, who are you to judge?! "

But if they are entitled to their opinion so am I!

my opinion is that somebody who voted for Trump is either a racist twat, or somebody who has been fooled by his horrid rhetoric and is very deeply misguided, if not a little thick, it's my opinion, I am entitled to it!

HeronLanyon · 25/01/2019 05:35

I was the one who said I would be concerned for my sexual safety around a man wearing a maga hat. Maga politics don’t exactly have, at their core, respect for women or andeveloped understanding of women’s rights. Don’t think this is a contentious view surely given what we know ?? Or is it all fake news ?? Wink

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 25/01/2019 05:40

I’d think that they were a dickhead. Because they openly wear something that declares their support for a nasty racist sexist piece of work. I’d be judging them like fuck.

Hmmm...sounds a bit like the British Monarchy to me. Who was that twat who wore the racist broach to lunch with Megan Markle? Was it Harry who dressed up as a Nazi? You don't think those lovely royals could be mysoginists do you? Too bad no one can ask Diana she was a rose amongst thorns.

They might clean up a lot better than that idiot Trump and Lord knows they speak much better but they're just a different brand of dysfunctional. So don't waste too much of your precious energy getting all upset over a damn hat. Worry about your own back yard.

trumpdump · 25/01/2019 05:57

Several people here have said that they would be physically violent towards someone in one of these hats. How does that make you any better than you perceive them to be?

What other types of clothing evoke feelings of aggression? Can I call for violence towards babies in headbands? Women in niqabs? Men in skirts? Police in riot gear?

No? Then why is it okay to support violence and aggression towards Trump supporters?

(Btw, I don't like or support Trump. My username is a joke!)

Raspberry88 · 25/01/2019 06:04

I would think they were an idiot and I wouldn't want to associate with them BUT I wouldn't cross the road or say anything to them. It's still their choice.

I agree with this. Don't get me wrong, I think Trump is absolutely awful, but a lot of people voted for him, and I think it's possible to understand why many people did. It doesn't necessarily mean they're a racist, just as all leave voters aren't racists. Anyway, if I saw someone wearing one around here (UK) I would probably barely notice as it just wouldn't be on my radar.

claraschu · 25/01/2019 06:06

Tonglong how can you compare racism to judging people for their loudly professed ideology?

I don't judge people for the melanin content of the skin they were born with, but I do judge them for choosing to wear symbols hate and ignorance.

Would you judge someone for wearing a swastika or a KKK hood?

gamerwidow · 25/01/2019 06:09

Yet it is ok to dislike someone for a hat......
It’s not just a hat.
It’s become a symbol of right wing hate.
I could wear a swaztika and go ‘what’s the problem it’s just an Indian good luck symbol’ but I don’t because I know it’s original meaning has been superceeded by its racist one.
To say it’s just a hat is incredibly disingenuous.

artisanscotcheggs · 25/01/2019 06:10

That they were a galloping barrel of crusty wanksocks on both counts.

PositiveVibez · 25/01/2019 06:12

Yet it is ok to dislike someone for a hat......

Seriously comparing someone disliking twatty hat wearers to racism?

Hat wearers are not a race 🙄

gamerwidow · 25/01/2019 06:13

Hmmm...sounds a bit like the British Monarchy to me.
What makes you think all British people are rampant royalists who never criticise what goes on in their own country. Most people can both simultaneously live in a country, support their country and be critical of the stuff that their governing figures do. It’s only right wing nut jobs who insist to hold public figures up to any type of scrutiny or criticism is unpatriotic.

ChildofGod92 · 25/01/2019 06:42

Gamerwidow, what makes you think that I think any such thing? Never said anything of the sort. But I feel the exact same way about my own country. I live here and I can tell you that your blanket statement of anyone wearing a MAGA hat is "racist" is simply wrong. My uncle has one, he's gay. Sings in a choir and recoils at the word "racist".

Some of these responses have been really eye opening. I'd never wear one of those silly hats but I'd love to see America be great. It means different things to different people not everyone thinks exactly like you. Tolerance applies to more than just what you believe in.

itsbritneybiatches · 25/01/2019 07:11

But Donald Trump doesn't promote tolerance does her?

Hence why most people
On this thread wouldn't want to be associated with someone wearing a MAGA hat.

THEsonofaBITCH · 25/01/2019 07:13

I would think they were a reasoned and involved member of the US voting system who represented HALF of the United States!

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 25/01/2019 07:24

A) would assume trump supporter and a twat
B) probably think they thought they were being super funny and cool, so a twat

DayManChampionOfTheSun · 25/01/2019 07:26

Ooh sorry missed hidden option c (if fancy dress party as pp husband)

C) would probably think it was quite funny, especially if really over the top

Fazackerley · 25/01/2019 07:26

I'd think they liked Donald trump. Wouldn't think anything more than that but I'm not a very judgemental person in my old age!
