A) if you were in the USA
B) if you were not in the USA.

I just saw my first one (tourist, on holiday). And was a bit surprised by how eeeeewww I felt.

I've yet to see anyone wearing one, and I'm in a state that help vote him in.

I'd just think 'twat', whichever country I was in.

AlbertWinestein · 24/01/2019 20:27

To be fair, in DC, a lot are being worn in an ironic way. I live in the States and get far more irritated by Trump bumper stickers. The other day I was following a dickhead in a pickup and I could t decide which annoyed me more, the bumper stickers or the fact they didn’t indicate once.

StoneofDestiny · 24/01/2019 20:34

A) They are a Bawbag
B) They are a Bawbag

OopsUpsideYourBed · 24/01/2019 20:34

I'd see it the same as if the person had a large inflatable dick strapped to their head.

badlydrawnperson · 24/01/2019 20:36

I guess the same way I felt when I went to Boston in 1986 and saw guy wearing a t-shirt that said "IRA - Freedom fighters" on it.

Muffster · 24/01/2019 21:08

Sooooo pretty unanimous then. ’Clunge’ is too fabulous Grin

I didn’t know people wore them ironically.
I assumed the wearer was wearing it with pride. And was unsure if they were being provocative or just unabashedly rejoicing in their hat.

A) Racist
B) Racist

JontyDoggle37 · 24/01/2019 21:11

The overall sentiment I wouldn’t mind..after all, America is hardly on its uppers at the moment. Any expectation that Trump is the saviour however and they are beyond forgiveness..

SaveKevin · 24/01/2019 21:12

My kids have them Blush Poundland had a range of trump stuff!!!
They think trumps an absolutely joke and wear them for comedy value.

KennDodd · 24/01/2019 21:15

My husbands got one!

He bought it at Poundland along with a Trump mask and red tie and wore it all with a suit at Halloween.

BarbarianMum · 24/01/2019 21:18

I would watch where I was walking so I didnt trip over their IQ.

ToPlanZ · 24/01/2019 21:24

I saw one on holiday in America and I'm ashamed to say I exclaimed loudly 'OMG people actually wear them in public!!!'

Honestly it just came out before I could stop it

I think in my head I just assumed people only wore them at rallies. If I saw one in the UK I'd presume it was meant to be ironic

cucumbergin · 24/01/2019 21:27

I'd assume they were a white supremacist, or that they thought murdering brown children was a bit of a laugh. All the "funny haha" Trump stuff is just normalising some utterly horrific stuff - children in camps, deliberately separated from parents, some die from entirely treatable causes and the response is "ah well their parents shouldn't have crossed the border".

In 20 years time it'll be like wearing a Nazi uniform.

rosenylund · 24/01/2019 23:38

Thinking about it now I would assume a joke at least in the north west where I live, so maybe I will don it next time I need a greasy hair cover up. Or I could write 'not really' on the back for safety's sake.

Wouldn’t matter what country they were in- I’d assume that they were an idiot.

MrsTerryPratcett · 25/01/2019 03:27

Last time I was in the US, people kept apologising to us and telling us they didn't vote for him.

There was a great clip, which I now can't find, with a Black American comedian/history buff asking people when they thought America was great. Then he'd say, "oh, when we had slavery" "oh, when we had segregated schools" "oh, when women didn't have employment rights". It was fantastic.

wonderingme · 25/01/2019 03:34

Tbh I didn't know they were a thing till I saw a YouTube video the other day of a guy refusing to serve someone wearing one and going crazy at him

I don't watch much telly!

Now I would definitely think wanker and wanker

But before I would have been wondering wtf it stood for and probably thought it was some sports team or brand label

HeronLanyon · 25/01/2019 03:46

A - racist sexist wanker and/or someone who doesnt mind being thought to be (same thing?).

B - as above plus hopeful travel will broaden their mind enlight that the cap no longer fits in their return.

If worn by a man I would also see them as clear, self—proclaimed, threat to me, a woman. Would not feel safe around them.

HeronLanyon · 25/01/2019 03:47

Enough not enlight but let’s hope travel enlightens them too Confused

TheCounter · 25/01/2019 03:58

There's so much more to get annoyed with in life.
Peoples political views...meh!

MidniteScribbler · 25/01/2019 03:58

If it were around here, I'd think they were a very long way from home.

And I'd predict they would have trouble getting served in most shops.

tonglong · 25/01/2019 04:01

So you dislike someone because they are wearing a hat ...........

To those upset the hat represents someone who they believe is racist........... someone who dislikes someone because of there race.

Yet it is ok to dislike someone for a hat......

HeronLanyon · 25/01/2019 04:03

Tonglong - the hat we are discussing has a message chosen to be publicly worn by the wearer. It’s the message which provokes thoughts and assumptions. Hmm

MrsTerryPratcett · 25/01/2019 04:07

Yet it is ok to dislike someone for a hat......

And haircuts in the 1980s. And Eurasian religious symbol in the 1930s. We're awful for not seeing that it's just a hat/haircut/collection of lines.
