I can drink a bottle of wine without even blinking. No hangover. I can go months without drinking. Then drink a bottle easily. Get up the next day and not feel a thing.

But then I never really got hangovers at Uni. Once or twice I felt a tiny bit rough. Got up had breakfast and off I went to a full day of lectures. No problemo.

missymayhemsmum · 22/01/2019 21:08

According to public health guidance apparently not. But then they also think that 2 bottles a week is less than 95% of women. I guess not enough mumsnetters fill in health surveys......

I mean today’s my birthday and my friend/housemate have cleared our calendars so we’re free tomorrow. I’m sure a lot of our drinks will be one serving/portion tonight 😂

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 22/01/2019 21:11

I'm the same with ice cream.

One 1 pint punnet is a portion, surely?

Treaclepie19 · 22/01/2019 21:13

I used to have no problem. These days I have to be careful as a bottle will make me feel rubbish the next day. Very annoying 😭

Bumblebee39 · 22/01/2019 21:13

A bottle of 14% red should be shared (over dinner)
A bottle of 9.5% blush on the other hand? Well, it's basically juice isn't it?

Bumblebee39 · 22/01/2019 21:15

@WTFIsAGleepglorp

But of course
Likewise they only make cheesecake in one one serving size (for one)

I am always terribly disappointed if I have to share Sad

Lucked · 22/01/2019 21:17

I wouldn’t cope on a normal night I would be drunk and have a hangover. I do like a glass with dinner but can move on to tea or water after without much of a thought. Also it’s expensive, or what we buy is.

My alcohol tolerance is certainly much lower than when I was younger, I am in my 40s now.

Bumblebee39 · 22/01/2019 21:20

@bellie710

Bottle stoppers are for when you buy really cheap wine to "give it a go" and then decide it would be better in cooking and go back to the shop for a decent bottle instead

3 hours later it mysteriously empties itself anyway Hmmdamned pixies

Mammyloveswine · 22/01/2019 21:46

Can easily sink a bottle on a weekend... try not to drink through the week but if i do usually just a glasd (or one of those 187ml mini bottles).

I love wine... keep trying gin but it's not the same.

BIWI · 22/01/2019 22:39

You're not trying hard enough Wink

GoGoGadgetGin · 22/01/2019 22:46

I (and the pixies) can easily do a bottle in a onner... 1 250ml glass while cooking dinner, same while eating, again while on sofa digesting. Do we need a secret MN sign of shame for wine portioning....

chitofftheshovel · 22/01/2019 23:04

I told the doctor the other day that I drank 20 units a week. He seemed to believe me...

Bacardi101 · 22/01/2019 23:08

Wine makes me vom if I have one glass or five so don’t touch it... an entire bottle of Chinzano on the other hand....

bubblewire · 22/01/2019 23:15

I can do a bottle easily, but these days the hangover is not worth it. Getting old.

cafenoirbiscuit · 22/01/2019 23:22

Dry Jan for me. Dammit, no weight loss or improvement in crappy sleep yet. Bring on 1st Feb 🍾

Oblomov19 · 23/01/2019 07:42

Me too Cafe Smile

littlemeitslyn · 23/01/2019 09:01

A bottle is too much ( am a recovering alcoholic )

PlainVanilla · 23/01/2019 09:20

I still have 2 open bottles of wine in the fridge from Christmas (and before). Somehow only manage to have a glass with a meal, now and again.

gamerwidow · 23/01/2019 09:22

When I was in my 20s I’d think nothing or drinking a bottle (or two ) on a Friday and Saturday night. Now a bottle last me at least two nights. I’d have such a hangover if I drank the lot!

theredjellybean · 23/01/2019 09:24

I don't have pixies but the dog looks quite rough some mornings... I have told him to lay off the wine but does he learn... No he doesn't

yumscrumfatbum · 23/01/2019 09:31

If I drink a bottle of wine I am guaranteed to have a hangover (tested this theory on New Years Eve) Half a bottle is my limit

You need to throw them away, they'll be like vinegar now.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 23/01/2019 09:36

I'm feeling rather fresh after my bottle last night,I never usually drink in the week but had a sod it moment
