I want a glass of wine now and it’s all your fault!!!! Grin

WednesdaySpinner · 22/01/2019 20:21

Same, I am craving a nice Sauvignon. May just go to bed early to avoid temptation Grin

PlumpSyrianHamster · 22/01/2019 20:21

Have the 'drink is a demon' brigade shown up yet? That's binge drinking, you know Grin and you will probably drop dead. Or the orthorexics, to cry over the sugar in wine. Sugar is a demon, too.

I'm off the sauce now because of some meds I have to take. Send wine!

yearinyearout · 22/01/2019 20:22

I can't do more than two glasses, I'm a lightweight. DH can do two bottles though so there's never any leftovers for my stew 🙄

CountFosco · 22/01/2019 20:25

there's never any leftovers for my stew🙄

I have special cooking wine. Not wasting the good stuff!

WildIrishRose1 · 22/01/2019 20:27

White wine (any type) is the worst for disappearing unexpectedly. It must be the chilling process.

I have an unhealthy number of unopened gin bottles in my house. Unhealthy as they're normally empty at this time of the year. What the hell is going on?

bellie710 · 22/01/2019 20:31

I always wonder who uses bottle stoppers, never found a need in our house!

DemelzaPoldarksshinerrefiner · 22/01/2019 20:38

I have cooking wine which Mr P quaffs whilst I take the Stagecoach to Truro peddling the myth he is saving Prudie and Jud from the demon drink.

cricketmum84 · 22/01/2019 20:40

I once got some bottle stoppers grifter for Christmas for leftover wine.

Most pointless present ever 😂😂

cricketmum84 · 22/01/2019 20:42

@BIWI hahaha I saw this too! Not one answer came close to how quickly I can polish of a litre of gin. I darent post lol

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 22/01/2019 20:43

Wine is scrumptious and shouldn't be overrated! I've def found my people

NotUmbongoUnchained · 22/01/2019 20:44

I can’t drink wine anymore. Wine is for cooking.

My brother and I did drink an entire bottle of gin between us at a wake though a few weeks ago.

DragonMamma · 22/01/2019 20:46

Yes! I have found my people.

A bottle of wine is nothing! I could walk a tightrope after it. It’s the second one that finishes me off.

Re the bottle of gin thing. As a kid I always assumed spirits lasted years (after all, why did they have drinks cabinets and trollies?!) but now I’m an adult I realise that a bottle of gin is basically hardly anything at all 😊

BunsOfAnarchy · 22/01/2019 20:47

Back in the good old days. DH and i would drive 2 hours to a football match. He'd drive and id be swigging straight from the bottle of rose.
Id be a whole bottle down, before we'd even finish the journey, wondering which service station to dump it at. By the time id get to the turnstiles id have a permanent 'wine grin' plastered on mu face Then id get me a pie and beer (what the actual fuck) and wolf it down before finding my seat.

I wouldn't dare do shit like now. Ive changed. Ive grown up. Im a better person....
I pour it in a glass now and the bottle would be in the recycling within about 80 mins of opening Grin

headinthecloud · 22/01/2019 20:49

I drank a whole bottle tonight. It was lovely.

IcedPurple · 22/01/2019 20:50

I honestly think I'd be passed out by the time I was half-way through bottle number 2. I was in Spain recently and bought one of those cheapo 1 liter wine boxes that you get in Spanish supermarkets. I DID manage to drink it all but had an absolutely lethal hangover the next day. Mind you it was complete plonk.

BIWI · 22/01/2019 20:54

This thread is torture Grin

Day 16 of not drinking. Not quite doing Dry January (didn't start till 7 Jan, and last day will be 27 Jan), but this is a long time not to have a glass or bottle of wine!

twobetwobetwo · 22/01/2019 20:55

A bottle can be a warmer-upper for me. School nights I stick to one bottle and wake up fresh as a daisy. I’ve been dry so have a comparison.

Eliza9917 · 22/01/2019 20:57

Yes seriously @IcedPurple. Although I haven't done that I a while, maybe a few months before Christmas. I've stopped drinking now though. Pretty much.

IcedPurple · 22/01/2019 20:57

@BunsOfAnarchy

The first thing I thought of on reading your post was the often dismal state of ladies' facilities in football stadia! Not much fun after knocking back a bottle of wine!

IcedPurple · 22/01/2019 20:59

@Eliza9917

Would you not be conked out before reaching the end of the bottle?

I don't consider myself a lightweight but I reckon I'd be a goner a third of the way through.

Piebeansandchips · 22/01/2019 20:59

I have just found a box of chateau cardboard in the cupboard next to some naice chocolate I was saving for Christmas and totally forgot about.
I love the fact they think it's necessary to print on the box - stays fresh for 6 weeks after opening.
6 minutes more like once me and the girls are stuck in. Are there actually people that manage to make it last 6 weeks?

ShatnersBassoon · 22/01/2019 21:01

I like a drink and have something most weekends, but I would really struggle the next day after drinking a whole bottle of wine. I'd be sick actually. It's a shame because I'm sure I'd be fun if I got pissed, like in the olden days.

Eliza9917 · 22/01/2019 21:02

@IcedPurple, no I wouldn't. I can drink 3 bottles of wine and still get up for work. I've also started on the vodka after I've drunk 3 bottles of wine too.

This is why I've practically stopped drinking.

Oratorio · 22/01/2019 21:05

I’ll drink a bottle if I open one, but try not to do it except for at the weekend. Ideally I’d like them to do litre bottles of decent wine that I can share with my husband, since two large glasses is really enough for me.
