Have just discovered (through him stealing one of mine from take away at weekend) that DS who will try anything once but is fussy loves onion rings, thrown in the fryer 2.5 minutes. Given he doesn’t like potatoes or pasta this is a carb win!
Tell me younother “there’s no time, it’s all gone to shit today, I’m a bad mum just eat something and stop crying” dinners?
Thanks!
Ps promise to be a better mum and provide a nutritionally balanced non fried meal tomorrow!
Pps he had wetabix for dessert.

Conseulabananahammock · 22/01/2019 18:21

flamingofridays · 22/01/2019 18:22

Poached egg on toast! 2 mins in microwave. Amazing!

TheDuckSaysMoo · 22/01/2019 18:22

Scrambled eggs and toast
Beans and toast
Bagel and cream cheese
Pasta and pesto

Coldhandscoldheart · 22/01/2019 18:23

Tinned pasta shapes. You know, like Thomas or tellietubby shapes. 30s in the microwave. Add cucumber sticks for a ‘vegetable’.

ImportantWater · 22/01/2019 18:25

“What’s for dinner?”
“Stew and dumplings/ spaghetti bolognese/ chicken curry that took me about an hour to prepare/cook.”
“Meh/ bleugh”

“What’s for dinner?”
“Wraps with ham and cheese and cucumber, I threw the wraps in the oven for 5 mins and everything else is on the table, knock yourself out.”
“Yay!”

FlashingLights101 · 22/01/2019 18:26

Frozen mash, beans and cheese. Cheap and dead quick (very useful for the days we have clubs and are back late).

ChipsAndKetchup · 22/01/2019 18:26

Pasta with butter and cheese. Stir. Serve. 👍🏽

Alwaysatyke · 22/01/2019 18:26

Poached egg on marmite toast
Bagel with honey or cream cheese
Quesadillas (sort of - it's grated cheese inside two tortilla wraps, toasted in dry frying pan)

Lwmommy · 22/01/2019 18:26

Microwave rice with tinned tuna
Scrambled egg (microwaved)/tinned tomatoes or mushrooms on toast
Hard boiled egg (tend to keep some in the fridge) with cherry tomatoes, rice cake and cucumber

CoastalLife · 22/01/2019 18:27

Probably the quickest thing we make is scrambled egg on toast. The egg is cooked by the time the toast pops up so we can have tea on the table in about 3 minutes flat.
But if we're having "one of those days" and I just want something she'll definitely eat enthusiastically then it's sausages. She would eat sausages with a side of sausages for every damn meal if I let her.

Fruitbatdancer · 22/01/2019 18:28

Love these! If only he ate eggs 😭 I do keep meaning to try him with a scotch egg? Maybe that would work!

Frozen peas, still frozen. This is a happy life changer for me.

Cheerbear23 · 22/01/2019 18:28

Scrambled eggs on toast, I put a few cherry tomatoes on the side.
Tinned beans & sausages on toast.
Chunks of cheese & ham with tomatoes and cucumber slices and ‘fingers’ of bread.

Bunnybigears · 22/01/2019 18:30

Tuna
Sweet corn

My youngest I another absolute pasta refuser, it cuts out my standard pasta pesto go-to which used to be a fail safe for Dc1 and 2. He likes:

Scrambled eggs on toast,
eggy bread or
cheese on toast/ toasted cheese sandwiches

Rather bread heavy!

He'll eat a small jacket potato with butter and baked beans if he's hungry enough.

Porridge and jam...

Sliced apples/ cucumber/ raw carrots on the side, though he has to be instructed to eat any frit or vegetables but apples, which he'd eat by the tree full, and does in fact climb trees to eat Confused

(he wouldn't eat eggs in any form til he was 6, the texture used to make him gag - fried and soft or hard boiled still do, but glad he eats them in two forms for now).

Sleephead1 · 22/01/2019 18:36

omlette always a winner, scrambled egg, beans, get a flat bread add passata and motzerella grill and it's a pizza

WhyDontYouComeOnOver · 22/01/2019 18:38

Microwave rice mixed with tuna, sweetcorn and mayo. I love it too.

BigFatBloomers · 22/01/2019 18:38

Supernoodles - can make them healthier by added in some left over chicken or some veg while their cooking. We have ours with a fried egg on top but DD doesn't do eggs

Pinkvici22 · 22/01/2019 18:39

Pasta shapes in sauce - sometimes with cold cocktail sausages thrown in

Pasta with mini meatballs (the Dolmio ones that comes in a packet that you pop in the microwave!)

Micro chips...add anything

Scotch pancakes with Nutella

Ham and Philadelphia cheese pinwheels

I’m a terrible mother Blush

Jammysod · 22/01/2019 18:41

Anything on toast... Beans, cheese, spaghetti, butter.
We have the annabel karmel kids meals in the freezer too. 6mins in the micro & they're done. Good for back up & gets some veggies in.

blueskiesandforests · 22/01/2019 18:42

Fish finger sandwiches he will also eat, though not a whole one...

He can live on fresh air and apples for a whole day if not offered anything he fancies, but he can eat an entire 30cm take away pizza given the opportunity once a month... He's knocked most of the complacent/ smug ideas I had about children and eating when I only had 2 kids on the head!

Pancakes but they're not quick when cooking for 5 people who want at least 3 each...

His range expanded quite a lot between age 5 and 7 though.

EatsFartsAndLeaves · 22/01/2019 18:43

Couscous
ham
egg
Sweetcorn
peas
Coleslaw
cheddar
Baked beans
Fish fingers
Toast
Cucumber
Any of the above in any combination depending on what I have in, since he has no concept of which things are supposed to go together.
