Have just discovered (through him stealing one of mine from take away at weekend) that DS who will try anything once but is fussy loves onion rings, thrown in the fryer 2.5 minutes. Given he doesn’t like potatoes or pasta this is a carb win!
Tell me younother “there’s no time, it’s all gone to shit today, I’m a bad mum just eat something and stop crying” dinners?
Thanks!
Ps promise to be a better mum and provide a nutritionally balanced non fried meal tomorrow!
Pps he had wetabix for dessert.

Quote hotdogs (30 secs in microwave) in a bun.

Heinz tomato soup & cheese on toast.

Those filled tortellini pastas that take a couple of minutes to boil.

Cheats Cornish pasty. It goes/

Ready made pastry disc
Chopped potato
Chopped carrot
Chopped onion
Chopped beef
Chopped potato

Beaten egg on the edges (then top before going into the oven), fold up nicely and crimp the edges and pop on the oven, 10 mins at 220 then 30-40 at 200.

Another one whose DC love frozen peas still frozen.

Banana pancakes (think the recipe came from here)

Crackers and rasberries (DC1 makes then into a sandwich and loves them).

Cheesy bread (not even toasted just cheese on bread under the grill).

confusedandemployed · 22/01/2019 18:47

I still freeze the odd meal for DD nearly 6. Usually sausagey pasta (homemade tomato sauce with cut up sausages and a few veg) or homemade soups, usually a variation on squash / sweet potato / carrot with garlic, onions, creamed coconut and curry spices. She'd live on soup given the chance.

FrenchyQ · 22/01/2019 18:48

tomato soup with a nest of egg noodles in
cous cous with tuna and sweetcorn
chips cheese and gravy
pitta/wrap/crumpet made into a pizza

blueskiesandforests · 22/01/2019 18:48

Oh I know what he does like that's healthy and quite quick:

"Carrot cream soup"

Sliced carrots and potatoes thinly
Melt butter in a pan
Boil water to make stock with powder
Chuck carrots into butter and soften
Add stock and potatoes
Summer for 15 minutes
Cool slightly and purée

TulipsInbloom1 · 22/01/2019 18:49

Fry some chicken and mushrooms in oil and mild fajita mix, put uncle Ben rice in microwave, serve together with sweet corn and grated cheese on top.

Instant pot risottos. 10 mins! 😍😍😍

Chinks123 · 22/01/2019 19:04

Super noodles, batcherlors pasta n sauce, waffles with spaghetti hoops and cheese on top..these are also my go to “not enough hours in the day” meals.

checkingforballoons · 22/01/2019 19:09

A ‘picky dinner’. This can be assembled from pretty much anything - random chopped fruit and veg, hummus, dried fruit, nuts, crackers, cheese, ham, cold leftover pasta if there’s some in the fridge, you get the idea! DS thinks this is a massive treat, I just think it’s useful if we’ve got in late and I’m disorganised!

Pk37 · 22/01/2019 19:12

Pasta , jam sandwiches , tinned Tom soup with bread.
All are winners here

Iownabigvase · 22/01/2019 19:12

A favourite here is homemade meatballs with pasta.
Takes 15mins..
Get some mince beef, add herbs and garlic granuals then roll into balls, pop into a pan with a tin of chopped tomatoes and more herbs. Boil spaghetti at the same time.
She loves it.
Other than that it's something on toast or tortilla 'pizza'.

AutumnCrow · 22/01/2019 19:16

Spaghetti hoops and toast.

I used to eat the cold leftovers when I was knackered and hungry.

ItsMEhooray · 22/01/2019 19:17

Cheese sandwich
Banana and pancake
Pesto pasta. I chuck in frozen broccoli and peas to the pasta while it's cooking.
Those little mini pizzas you get Blush

IncyWincyGrownUp · 22/01/2019 19:17

Bacon sandwich, takes very little time.

The older two like a fried egg on toast, or omelette with whatever is available as a side.

LittleMissNaice · 22/01/2019 19:18

Pasta, chopped carrot and mushrooms all cooked in one pan. Drain and stir in beans. Done. Light on the washing up too!

Ivegotthree · 22/01/2019 19:18
