Is there anyone who just eats normally?

I can't believe the amount of threads where the OP claims to eat only a boiled spinach shake for breakfast, plain cous cous for dinner and a salmon fillet with veg for tea. With of course, only an apple as a snack in between.

Is there anyone like me who just has a bowl of cornflakes for breakfast, a meal deal for lunch and then whatever I can be arsed putting in the oven for tea? I'm beginning to wonder if I'm massively unhealthy in comparison to most or whether people are just making this up.

Breakfast 2 eggs (it's not breakfast without eggs)
black filter coffee my favourite - accept no substitutes

Lunch - tuna may sandwich or some hot chicken thighs to grab on the go and an apple. Some pineapple. Another apple.

Dinner - breaded fish, oven chips and peas
or tray chicken chorizo bake with chorizo and kale, or homemade turkey burgers and salad or sausage and mash or slow cooker mince and veg (but that's because it's easy just to whack it all oin one pot and forget for 4 hrs)

Evening - this is where I really slob out:

Toast full fat cottage cheese. Sometimes just the cottage cheese straight out the tub. Some toast with jam. Sometimes throw in a bar of chocolate or some biscuits. Lime and soda. and repeat.....

when I used to drink alcohol i'd always have to get a share size bag of crisps or Maltesers to go with a bottle of Shiraz and not share

We do eat a lot of veg and fruit but on top of it but I personally eat a load of evening toast and telly. The other day I managed to get through an entire Swiss Roll slice by slice just putting the shopping away. Literally putting it away....

I do need to exercise too.

Snorting at the idea of breakfast from a can! Grin

floribunda18 · 23/01/2019 20:02

I have chocolate occasionally, but I don't feel like sweet things very often. I have a takeaway once a month and have a couple of g&ts and two glasses of wine at the weekend.

I’m a bit like that. Always been more of a savoury foods kinda gal.

At the moment I’m addicted to Parma Ham & Melon. And at tea time I make a rogan josh low calorie chicken curry (which is lush if I do say so myself).

I did have a major addiction to Sweet Chilli Houmous recently too. But I kept dipping chips in it Grin

Who ate a dangerwich today?

If you did, what was in it and did you become evil afterwards?

Terramirabilis · 23/01/2019 20:14

I'm in awe of the metabolisms of some people on this thread. I am one of the boring healthy eaters. I wish it didn't have to be so but it makes me feel better and sleep better and get more out of my workouts. Also, I love clothes and I like to feel good in them and for me that means being the dress size I want to be. (Not a judgement on what anyone else does, just what works for me.)

Today's food:

Breakfast: 6 oz high protein yoghurt, 3 oz red grapes, 1/2 oz walnuts and an americano with half and half (cream and milk)

Lunch: 12 Ritz wholewheat crackers, 1 oz cheddar cheese, 1 Thermos of homemade sweet potato and carrot soup

Snack: 2 boiled eggs, 1 americano with half and half

Dinner: 6 oz grilled boneless, skinless chicken breast, small amount of Alfredo sauce, steamed broccoli

Snack: 3 squares of chocolate.

Drinks throughout day: water, camomile tea

SaltedIceCream · 23/01/2019 20:15

My normal depends if I’m having a ‘good’ calorie controlled food day or just eating any old crap.

Today is a good calorie wise day but Iv ate little and it’s not nutrious

  • a small mars bar and cup of tea
  • small banana
  • a salted caramel cake bar thing that was under 90 calories (can’t rememver there name, there new ish)
  • all veg stir fry.

That’s it

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 23/01/2019 20:21

I did not massage kale for my tea. Lamb chops, buttered spuds, sprouts and carrots, pear for dessert. To be followed by a couple of chocolate biscuits later tonight.

busyhonestchildcarer · 23/01/2019 20:30

I try to stick to low carb sort of keto but if I decide I want something outside of this I do.If im out with friends it goes out the window. For me it works but its not for everyone but I hate being hungry so this suits me

Frazzledstar1 · 23/01/2019 20:34

CheesePleaseLoueese · 23/01/2019 20:43

Me. I am breastfeeding but even so, haven't dramatically changed the nature of why I eat/my diet. I'm just chomping down even more food!

Breakfast - porridge AND toast and coffee
Lunch - bean and rice stew.
Afternoon - a hot chocolate and two Viennese whirls
Dinner- one MASSIVE takeaway curry bought by boyfriend

Purplecatshopaholic · 23/01/2019 20:45

OMG! All day breakfast in a can?? I MUST try that!

genius1308 · 23/01/2019 20:45

OMG op, thia thread is now making me feel like sh*t. I am over 40 with good hair and skin and a size 8-10, pps have said you have to be careful over 40! Here's my intake today (which is quite typical). Breakfast: x2 croissants with a cup of tea. Mid morning: 6 chocolate digestives with a cup of tea. Lunch: tuna, mayo, sweet corn sandwich (white bread) packet of pickled onion monster munch and 4 jaffa cakes. Dinner: lasagne with chips and garlic bread followed by a frys Turkish delight. After the kids have gone to bed: a cup of tea and a fun size pack of Maltesers. And the days not over yet so who knows what else? I know that there's a 'bit' of chocolate/sugar on there but I would like to say that I don't buy ready meals. All meals are made fresh weather that be pizza, burgers, lasagne, chicken stew, curry...but I've got to admit I do like a stodgy meal. If I ever have salad/fruit it always makes me feel starving.

Rockybooboo · 23/01/2019 20:48

See I'm 50 tomorrow and I've been given, cake, chocolates and I'm going put for various meal. If you nevet eat junk, do you turn food presents and nights out down.

Rockybooboo · 23/01/2019 20:50

That was mainly aimed at PolarBerkshire

Monthsontherun · 23/01/2019 20:51

Love it *genius"!

EdWinchester · 23/01/2019 20:53

genius1308 - if that's an average day, that's an awful diet.

MariaNovella · 23/01/2019 20:54

You're not going to keel over because you eat a bar of chocolate every now and then hmm it sounds extremely boring to never allow yourself a bit of indulgence.

I’m not sure why not eating chocolate is boring. I think chocolate is boring!

Peanutss · 23/01/2019 20:58

MariaNovella I was referring to the poster who claimed to NEVER eat junk food because it's lazy.

Never... Really? Hmm

Peanutss · 23/01/2019 20:59

Doesn't necessarily have to be chocolate. It's an example.

I have started being a bit mindful of what im putting in my mouth, I am greedy but diets (even slimming world) fail because of restrictions and weighing etc.

Im doing dry January but im getting out walking more when I can and doing daily ab exercises from an app on my phone.

Today I have had:
Breakfast: a crumpet with marmite with a cup of tea
Cup of coffee
Banana, 2 satsumas, granny smith apple
A chow mein noodle pot (naked noodles?)
2 shortbread biscuit and coffee
Malaysian curry with coconut rice and green beans
Water for all other drinks

This has filled me all day!

GrinCouldn’t get beyond that lil maxim. It’ll serve you well.tell your kids too

ScienceIsTruth · 23/01/2019 21:03

Today I've eaten:

2 small slices Homemade sourdough bread with butter.
1 mini cucumber
4 cream crackers with cheese spread and red Leicester, Branston pickle and more butter.
A raw choc orange brownie bar from Aldi (made with date/peanut paste and choc chips).
For dinner:
I had a small bowl of homemade chicken and smoked bacon soup ( made using leftover chicken carcass, some smoked bacon bits, seasoning, carrots, onion, mushrooms, and a few other bits of veg that needed to be used up, plus stock frozen from last chicken, pearl barley and some bulgar wheat that needed to be used), and then I had 2 oven roasted sardines (in a lemon butter) and a few mouthful of a haddock fillet coated in tortilla crisps with chilli and lime.

I've also had lots of strong tea and I may have a square of 85% choc later, if I fancy it.
