Is there anyone who just eats normally?

Peanutss · 22/01/2019 13:46

I can't believe the amount of threads where the OP claims to eat only a boiled spinach shake for breakfast, plain cous cous for dinner and a salmon fillet with veg for tea. With of course, only an apple as a snack in between.

Is there anyone like me who just has a bowl of cornflakes for breakfast, a meal deal for lunch and then whatever I can be arsed putting in the oven for tea? I'm beginning to wonder if I'm massively unhealthy in comparison to most or whether people are just making this up.

@Peanutss

That post didn’t say that she couldn’t understand you. She said she couldn’t understand some people.

Once again, defensiveness

insecure123 · 29/01/2019 09:15

Some days I have smoothies for breakfast, salaad for lunch and a nice salmon fillet with sweet potato and spinach for tea

others I eat a packet of biscuits and 2 bountys before lunchtime then go for a sit in buffet haha

I don't really give it much thought. I do generally enjoy healthy foods but sometimes I take a notion to pig out. I am a healthy weight and reasonably actiive so I am not too concerned. Some foks diets do sound a bit too miserable!

Once again, defensiveness

Once again, preachiness.

Peanutss · 29/01/2019 09:32

I'm defensive because throughout this thread it's been implied, suggested or just outright said that we are:

  1. Shit parents.
  2. Costing the NHS thousands.
  3. On the verge of some life debilitating illness.
  4. Obese/overweight.
  5. Deathly unhealthy.

I'm not bothered about what other people eat. If someone prefers a kale and quinoa salad that's great. It doesn't come with a side of rights to lecture everyone else or imply any of the above though.

It doesn't come with a side of rights to lecture everyone else or imply any of the above though.

It seems to me sometimes, that the morning restricted a person's diet, the less they feel inclined to keep it to themselves.

Starts with people that choose weird diets like Atkins or what have you, banging on about how great it is, only to give up a week later.
Then it's people that choose to be gluten free, telling everyone how great it is when they have no medical need to avoid gluten.
Then it's people that don't eat meat, lecturing other meat eaters about how the animal lived and died.
Then the vegans start on about how eating any animal products makes you lord Satan's fuck boy.
Eventually you get to the fuckwits that eat fresh air telling every other bastard how wrong they are only to be put into a house and monitored then almost die through lack of food after a fortnight.

It also seems to me that the increase of these 'diets' and the increase in the size of the 'helth industry' has done fuck all to stop the increase in people that are classed as over weight.

It also seems to me that a lot of people are fucking idiots. They somehow think that whole billion dollar industry that exists to make money is somehow invested in moon them slim, bollocks, they're interested in keeping you fat and coming back for your weekly weigh ins, keep you buying their foods, keep you buying their books, keep you paying their gym fees.

Or to put it another way,
If any of that shit worked, they'd go out of business. If any diet book worked, no other diet book would be bought. If any fitness DvD worked, no other fitness DvD would be bought.

....
Now that's preachy..

Let's all have cake, pizza a couple burgers each and sit to binge watch The Good Place.. pass the Doritos..

Holds bugger all appeal to me. But appeals to others, so enjoy. Makes no odds to me.
I’d prefer to go for a run, then come back to a fresh grilled tuna steak, large salad and some cous cous. Followed by Greek yoghurt and some raspberries.

But no doubt that will be scorned on this thread!

RightOh · 29/01/2019 11:28

Kiki that sounds lush :)

Lots of people get hung up on the word 'diet'. Just eat a balanced diet (as in, variety of fresh food) full of nutrition, make sure you exercise & if you want to enjoy the occasional slice cake, go for it.

My career is food and nutrition based, I'm paid to advocate healthy eating according to your personal dietry needs, but I 'preach' healthy eating in the same way I 'preach' feminism and equal rights.

Kikipost · 29/01/2019 11:35

Just tucking in to this. It will likely either appeal or be utterly unappetising. For me, it’s heaven on a plate!

I don't mind couscous but it's very bland, it's just wheat - semolina in fact. It needs a proper sauce for flavour. And plain grilled tuna steak is pretty dull too.

I don't see much difference between tuna, couscous and salad, and grilled beef, mashed potato and cauliflower.

RightOh · 29/01/2019 13:48

Kiki, nom! My lunch today, after my yoga class. Grin

Off for a short run this afternoon & tucking into a homemade prawn Thai curry for dinner later.

Living my best life!

Idon't see much difference between tuna, couscous and salad, and grilled beef, mashed potato and cauliflower.

Very similar. Both tasty.

Kikipost · 29/01/2019 13:56

@RightOh

Is that mackerel? Looks bloody delicious

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 29/01/2019 14:02

I know this makes me
Sound like a wanker. But I hate that food ! Once you start eating healthier that food gives stomach cramps , constipation and makes me feel sick !!!

Pass me the quinoa and kale chips bitches Grin

RightOh · 29/01/2019 14:32

It is mackerel! My second favourite fish (salmon wins, obvs). On a bed of spiced cous cous & sweet peppers, a few olives in there too.

Shoutingatme, I used to eat all that fake food (and more) when I was obese. I honestly was in denial that my diet was that bad. It suited me to make excuses.

But I can't (wouldn't) eat it now if you paid me. It's Iike your body can't cope with the crap once you improve your diet.

TadaTralala · 29/01/2019 14:39

B: toast with jam and coffee
in between: mango
L: crackers with jam and cheese. Ok 3 slices of cheese
in between: cuppa soup
D: potatoes, quiche, baked beans, more cheese

right now: rooting around in bag so I can scrape together enough loose change so I can go downstairs and buy a chocolate bar.

WunderBlah · 29/01/2019 16:12

It's a shame some people are just pillocky arsewanks out to derail a nice chat about snacks with a bunch of derogatory bumfluff, ignorant generalisations and outright nastiness without taking the hint or giving any thought to the psychological damage they could be doing to sufferers of eating disorders and other serious life events out there.

This is my contribution because I think it is important to promote the avoidance of arsewank in all of it's damaging forms and I have completed a phd in the upsurge of arsewank and it's negative effect on society which I use daily in my extremely important job as an arsewank avoidance specialist so you should all listen to me and bow down to my awesomeness.

KlutzyDraconequus · 29/01/2019 16:15

I'll bow down to you Wunder... Mainly cause my diet gives me very little energy so I often tople forward anyway..
Still, the intentions there.

Help me up would you?

WunderBlah · 29/01/2019 16:16

Take two tunnocks teacakes and call me in the morning.

KissingInTheRain · 29/01/2019 16:18

Just enjoyed a Gregg’s glazed donut.

VietnameseCrispyFish · 29/01/2019 16:42

Imagine being the sort of person who thinks cous cous, spinach, apples, fish and veg are abnormal foods and abnormal ways to eat 😂 sorry OP, but your initial post gave me a good chuckle.

Peanutss · 29/01/2019 16:48

cous cous, spinach, apples, fish and veg are abnormal foods

I mentioned cous cous once in my OP as an example of a healthy meal. Can you quote where else I've implied apples, fish or veg are abnormal please? I think actually you'll find that some of my own 'food diary' contributions to this thread include those things, I just enjoy eating a bit of 'junk' as well.

I do sincerely hope that's okay with you.

OP posts:
KlutzyDraconequus · 29/01/2019 16:50

I don't consider Couscous normal, it .ay be to people's in different cultures and countries, but it's not something I encountered until recently.

As far as I'm aware it's a heavily massed produced item made from the leftovers of another product, so bits that weren't good enough for what they were actually making.

Morgan12 · 29/01/2019 16:55

Crackers with jam and cheese????? On the same cracker? Am I missing out on something here?
