... on what other shows I can watch once I've finished binge watching Endeavour? I've just discovered the show and am loving it. Loved Morse, loved Lewis. What else will I probably like? Thanks Smile

Foyles' War is very good; Vera is OK. Shetland is a good watch as well. Is it the period element you like, or the murder mystery?

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 22/01/2019 13:25

Hinterland.

PerverseConverse · 22/01/2019 13:31

Thanks. It's the mystery I like, especially the intellectual aspects of Morse/Lewis/Endeavour.

if you can find it

'State of Play' starring Bill Nighy, David Morrisey, James Mcavoy

Bloody brilliant- tight script and superb acting

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/01/2019 13:40

Love Hinterland, you have to pay attention as so much is in Welsh so you have to read the subtitles. I enjoy Vera too but the lack of NE accents really bugs me, and the fact that most of the houses used where last decorated in 1972!!

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/01/2019 13:41

And Unforgotten with Nicola Walker. Fab.

TheWoollybacksWife · 22/01/2019 13:43

There is an Adam Dalgleish series showing on Alibi at the moment called The Murder Room. I'm halfway through the first episode and it looks good so far. I've read a couple of PD James books, but not this one.

Unforgotten is brilliant as is Line of Duty.

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/01/2019 14:33

George Gently. Fantastic, excellent lead characters and interesting storylines.

Happy Valley

Megadesk63 · 22/01/2019 22:13

Another vote for Unforgotten here. Line of Duty as well.

Safe on Netflix sometime last year was good too!

userschmoozer · 22/01/2019 22:15

'The Bletchley Circle', if you can find it. It was originally on ITV.

Buffymum · 22/01/2019 22:18

River

GnomeDePlume · 22/01/2019 22:19

Waking the dead
Prime Suspect - if you havent watched the original then do so, an absolutely cracking plot and very well acted.

curlycat · 22/01/2019 22:24

Grantchester

StoneofDestiny · 22/01/2019 22:30

Judge Dread

StoneofDestiny · 22/01/2019 22:31

I mean Judge Deed!

Maladicta · 22/01/2019 22:31

Another vote for Foyle's War

PerverseConverse · 25/01/2019 17:12

Thanks all. I only have a few episodes of Endeavour left to watch now so will give some of your suggestions a go.

Here's hoping there's a season 6. Be nice if Lewis had another season too.

Sorry OP, no advice because nothing else has appealed to me much! I liked Morse and Lewis, but Endeavour even more, but unfortunately have missed alot of Endeavour as no recording facilities and it's often on too late for me, it's 2hrs I think. Not only that but the ads would drive me mad. Think the actors have created strong characters and they grow as time goes on, and make the characters so real. Loved John Thaw and the actor who plays young version does well. So I just posted to say that really!

EssexGurl · 25/01/2019 18:00

I think there is a new series of Endeavour coming this year. Love Roger Allam soooo much. Great ITV drama advert with a Thursday on at the moment.

cinnabarmoth · 25/01/2019 18:00

Prime Suspect 1973 might appeal, it's a prequel series to Prime Suspect. I think you might enjoy the plot as well as the period elements.

PerverseConverse · 25/01/2019 18:01

Sky box is set to record!
It's been my evening routine to watch all the ones I've downloaded and my guilty pleasure to watch during the day when I should be doing housework. In my defence I've used to time to sit with a hot water bottle in my back which is the therapy my physio recommended. I never normally sit for long enough to warrant boiling the kettle but Endeavour has given me the perfect excuse to do as I'm told. It's really helped too Smile

I'm perturbed by the tash on the advert for the new series. Facial hair gives me the heebie jeebies.
I'm also increasingly frustrated by morse's inability to say no to women even when he puts himself and the case at risk. It's cringey.
This show is a lot more violent, seems to be more murders per episode etc but I love it. I love Thursday and Bright. Sad to see Trewlove go as she was an intellectual addition to the cast and refreshing to see she had brains as well as beauty in such sexist times. I hate the way they call women "birds."

I'm on the second episode of George gently and enjoying. It's not Endeavour but it's enjoyable. Not got round to PS yet or searched for the others but will. Looking forward to the new Endeavour series although traumatised by the tash Confused
