... on what other shows I can watch once I've finished binge watching Endeavour? I've just discovered the show and am loving it. Loved Morse, loved Lewis. What else will I probably like? Thanks Smile

I’m really looking forward to Endeavor starting

HazelBite · 05/02/2019 20:41

Happy Valley, (series 1 & 2) Unforgotten, Line of Duty

I;ve been re-watching Taggart- loving it!

LadyofMisrule · 05/02/2019 20:42

I second the Bletchley Circle. It's on Netflix if you have that.

Bowchicawowow · 05/02/2019 20:43

Wallender, the Swedish and the Kenneth Branagh versions are good.

dontcallmelen · 05/02/2019 20:46

Yy line of duty, but watch in order of the series otherwise it’s hard to know what’s going on, also Bletchley circle & unforgotten is very good as well, also some of the old Frosts are very good & yy as well Taggart.

PerverseConverse · 05/02/2019 20:50

I liked Frost. My dad did too so always reminds me of him.

Has anyone mentioned Vera? I adore her.

Janedoughnut · 05/02/2019 21:37

Isn't the new series of endeavour starting on Sunday. Or did I imagine it!

Janedoughnut · 05/02/2019 21:38

Yep ITV at 8pm.

dontcallmelen · 05/02/2019 21:40

Jane I think so, am really looking forward to it love the programme & always thought it’s a nice touch to have John Thaws daughter having a role.

HettyStThomas · 05/02/2019 21:42

All of the above are great. I was just going to recommend Wallender too. I quite enjoyed the Swedish ones too. The Killing was also good. Has anyone mentioned DCI Banks?

lazyarse123 · 05/02/2019 21:44

DCI Banks is good if you can get over Stephen Tompkinson not being as described in the books.

lazyarse123 · 05/02/2019 21:46

Great minds hetty

HerBigChance · 05/02/2019 21:50

The old Taggarts (with Mark McManus) are fabulous. They're repeated on the Drama Channel every so often.

Another vote for George Gently. I didn't really get into it when it was on the BBC, but caught up with it later on on Drama. Ditto Inspector Lynley.

Also, Inspector Alleyn on the Drama channel. Shown less often, but good storylines and Patrick Malahide is always so good.

HettyStThomas · 05/02/2019 21:52

Whitechapel is also quite good, it's a bit darker, more Luther like. The Cormoran Strike novel adaptations were really good too.

bananamonkey · 05/02/2019 21:52

Just adding to the Endeavour appreciation. Also love Lewis, could watch them over and over (and I have Blush)

HerBigChance · 05/02/2019 21:54

I have a raging passion gentle fondness for Shaun Evans as Endeavour

PerverseConverse · 05/02/2019 21:56

Lots to be going on with Smile I'm a book lover rather than tv but just lately I've enjoyed staying up past 8pm and lying on the sofa watching something engaging.

PerverseConverse · 05/02/2019 21:58

He's divine. He's grown on me greatly but it's his brain I find most sexy. It was the same with Hathaway. Oxford holds a special place in my heart so I'm drawn to Morse/Lewis/Endeavour in particular.

Cakeandmarshmallows · 05/02/2019 22:14

Silent witness, on currently or if you can find old episodes of Taggart, also good. Think most others I would suggest have already been mentioned.

Guineapiglet345 · 05/02/2019 22:26

I loved Endeavour, not sure there’s anything quite as good but I like the young prime suspect (prime suspect 1973 or something?) on Netflix, the old Sherlock Holmes on ITV are good too and if you haven’t watched Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes then you might like them too.

CarolinePooter · 05/02/2019 22:31

Great suggestions on here! I would also have suggested Grantchester, except I have been so disappointed with the new series. I only lasted one episode, so it's not even the change of vicar. It really doesn't seem as good as it was.

RB68 · 05/02/2019 22:38

v excited for new Endeavour have been waiting and watching since mid last yr

Graphista · 06/02/2019 01:35

You like cerebral mysteries then. In which case I recommend

Sherlock
Foyles war
Bletchley circle
Life on Mars
Ashes to ashes
Cracker
Criminal minds
Mindhunter - basically the "true story" of his the behavioural unit featured in criminal minds came about. Fascinating.
Top of the lake (amazing but a tough watch)
Columbo was arguably the first of this type and I think still stands up well.
Broadchurch - I think people have forgotten how good this was especially the first series.
Unforgotten - I agree is an AMAZING series.
Whitechapel is very good, I've been unable to watch again though for personal reasons (I have OCD too and it's a bit too close to the bone for me at the moment, when I'm doing better I'll be able to watch again, by which point it'll probably be unavailable!)

Law and order can be a bit hit and miss on this score, criminal intent was the best version. Especially the ones with Vincent d'onofrio who I think is a HUGELY underrated actor.

Bones is a bit more quirky you'll either love it or hate it

White collar - I adore this show! But it may be too light for what you're looking for. But Matt bomer 😍😍

Person of interest - again a bit more quirky with the sci fi elements but I loved it.

The mentalist - I loved! But it's not to everyone's taste.

Perception - ditto

Numbers - I loved at the time but it seems really dumbed down considering the premise now.

@cakeandmarshmallows I used to love silent witness and started watching the old ones on the tvplay app - they're awful! Sam Ryan's always "missing" stuff she's not a genius she's bloody incompetent!

bananamonkey · 06/02/2019 07:41

@Graphista great suggestions, I’ve watched all of The Mentalist about 5 times Blush
