... on what other shows I can watch once I've finished binge watching Endeavour? I've just discovered the show and am loving it. Loved Morse, loved Lewis. What else will I probably like? Thanks Smile

Yes and rage conspiracy and corruption continues

Cuttingthegrass · 10/02/2019 23:02

Not rage .... silly autocorrect. Just meant the corruption

The vicar said something about needing forgiveness along the way and the man who hanged for his wife's murder used to hang out with the other bloke at the church. In the choir together. Connections there. Peodophile ring perhaps and the vicar killed the dad because of that. I think perhaps the vicar is gay which of course was illegal back then. Lots to think on there. The ending made me feel really happy and content with what Strange did. Lots of thoughts he might be corrupt with all the masons stuff going missing from evidence in the previous series but maybe not.

Back to George Gently today for some comfort viewing.

I'm finding the historical aspects of these shows very interesting. For example I didn't know it was only legal for married women to be prescribed the contraceptive pill back then. Without the pill my life would be one that is far more painful than it is anyway as I use it to control my endometriosis. I'm divorced so wouldn't have qualified back then for a prescription. Although maybe specialists would have been able to prescribe. Assuming they knew it would help endometriosis. Sorry off on a tangent thanks to painkillers! I often wish I'd lived in simpler times but would pick and choose lots of modern life enhancing items to keep. I feel a new thread coming on Grin

Wallander. Both versions.

Silent witness old episodes on DRAMA or new on iplayer

Waking the Dead also on DRAMA

Murdoch Mysteries also on DRAMA (new series just started)

If you want cheesy mystery Death in Paradise on iplayer and BBC1

I've thoroughly enjoyed inspector George gently thank you SmileNo episodes beyond season 5 to be found though on demand Sad

I tried watching the first ever Vera but wasn't that taken with her. I was tired though and not really paying attention. I also appreciate that the first couple of episodes of a drama series can be a bit odd until you get with the characters. She seemed a bit highly strung for a detective and due to her age struggled to cope physically. Ageist I know but how many detectives of her age are out on active cases instead of pen pushing? She was wheezing like mad after a chase and set off my misophonia SadDoes it get better assuming it was me having an off day not Vera??

Father Brown

Second Unforgotten. Nicola Walker should have won a BAFTA, she wasn’t even nominated! Also Waking the Dead was good. Vera was good first couple of series but getting a bit tired now.
Can’t beat Morse though, bit dated but just loved John Thaw, sad loss.

JRMisOdious · 01/03/2019 20:08

I mean I second Unforgotten, not Unforgotten 2! All were excellent.

SparklySneakers · 01/03/2019 20:15

I'm giving Vera another go. I've seen most of the Morses twice if not more. Same with Lewis. Loved them. Will revisit in a year or so when I've forgotten the plot.
I remember waking the dead and liked it. Was years ago now.
