Need some inspiration on places to go this summer. Where are you planning on going this year? Just thinking about the sun makes me happy in this horrid cold weather Grin

Spain, near Marbella. Can’t waitz

mrsk28 · 19/01/2019 09:49

Think we're going to do a week in Malaga around the end of September. Currently pregnant so baby should be just old enough by then.

Went to Texas and New Orleans last April and would highly recommend it. Rented a car and drove from one to the other. Surprisingly cheap and an amazing experience.

Week in Tarifa (Spain) child free with my bf, then a week in the south of France with the dc. Booked all the flights with easyJet the day they were released so were super cheap, and found lovely places to stay on booking.com and Airbnb. Total cost for both holidays is £980.

MrsJBaptiste · 19/01/2019 10:05

We booked ours last week 😁

2 weeks in August in the South of France with friends, looking forward to it already! We'll be right on a lake so great for the kids as they're older 12 & 15 and the site has water slides, etc. too.

We'd better get lots of sun to make up for past cloudy holidays in Cornwall... 😒

PurpleRobe · 19/01/2019 10:10

Thank you @Franheaton @Littlecaf

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/01/2019 10:15

House in France with a pool-
we are driving and bringing Dpup for the first time.

When I inquired at the vet re getting her a pet passport they said to wait until after brexit now because it may all change Hmm

Not very reassuring...

Aristaeus76 · 19/01/2019 10:17

Skiing in Chamonix in a couple of weeks, Two weeks in Tokyo/Japan in April, and two weeks in Cape Cod in the summer.

Other than that, just a few long weekends in Europe throughout the year.

I8toys · 19/01/2019 10:20

Oslo, Edinburgh fringe and budapest! We do cold places in summer mostly and warm places in winter!

Charley50 · 19/01/2019 10:21

A couple of weeks in Switzerland and Germany including Berlin to visit friends and family In the summer.

I really want to visit Croatia. Is it really busy already in early July, as my dp hates crowded places.
To the pp who wants sandy beaches.. pebbly beaches are lovely as long as you have swimming shoes. My DS prefers them.

UAEMum · 19/01/2019 10:26

We live in the UAE. This Summer have flights to Kuala Lumpur booked. Planning to spend 2 weeks travelling in Malaysia. Me, DH and 4 kids (17, 15. 14 and 5).
Will be expensive. Have paid almost 2K pounds for flights. We have expensive tastes in hotels.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/01/2019 10:29

@Purplerobe we went to Croatia last summer-stayed in Cavtat-absolutely brilliant. Highly recommend.

Great town with shops and restaurants walking distance-lovely beaches and coves (do take sand shoes)
Took the boat excursion to Dubrovnik one day which was great-walked the city wall.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 19/01/2019 10:33

DH is visiting DD in Beirut in February, and I'm going for a week in March. I hope to get up into the mountains with her for a few days.

In two weeks we're going away for a few days skiing, just booked at short notice. We're in Central Europe already so the nearest low-key resort is 3 hours away. It's a long way from the typical skiing experience for Brits!

We both have a few little work-related trips this year, which I'm sure we can add a bit of touristing onto. DH has a conference in Lyon, and I'm in Greece for a few days.

We haven't booked the 'main' family holiday yet, but we're thinking of Slovenia. A few days in Ljubljana followed by a hike in the Julian Alps, and possibly even climbing Triglav!

In September DH and I will have a literally flying visit to the UK to visit a relative - first trip since the dreaded B word kicks in. I'll be interested to see if it's functioning as well as Lebanon on an everyday basis.

suze28 · 19/01/2019 10:44

We've spent the last eight years in France on gite holidays and wanted something totally different this year so we've booked two weeks AI in Saint Lucia in August.

lola006 · 19/01/2019 10:51

Love this thread and got some great inspiration for this summer!

My plans as of now:
3 nights in Krakow (March)
2 weeks in LA (May)
Iceland (December)

For the Croatia people - go! DH and I loved it. Like a cheaper version of Italy, very safe, lots to do. The only thing I’d avoid is taking DC still in prams as Split and Dubrovnik would be hard to get around (stairs, uneven ground etc). It was easy to use the local bus to go from 1 city to the other. We did a day tour to Montenegro for maybe £30pp. Just loved it.

Singinghollybob · 19/01/2019 10:51

We're going to New Orleans and Miami in March,
Amalfi Coast in July
Ibiza and Formentera in August

Mummyshark2019 · 19/01/2019 11:16
