Need some inspiration on places to go this summer. Where are you planning on going this year? Just thinking about the sun makes me happy in this horrid cold weather Grin

OP posts:
IWouldLikeToKnow · 19/01/2019 07:15

Copenhagen in July for 1 week.

Mablethorpe · 19/01/2019 07:20

Frejus, French Riviera for 10 days. Not quite summer, we're going at Easter. Flights were dirt cheap £50 each return to Nice and Eurocamp chalet £350. I'm very excited.

Wisteria1979 · 19/01/2019 07:31

OP- If you want to combine abroad with center parks there are some really nice ones in Europe and they are much cheaper than uk.

DopeyDazy · 19/01/2019 07:33

Newcastle on a coach trip for 5 days am hoping its dry. My first holiday alone ever since DH passed away last year

KittyVonCatsworth · 19/01/2019 07:41

FlowersDopeyDazy Newcastle is an amazing city. Are you venturing up the coast a bit! Alnwick is stunning too.

We have 10 days in Egypt in July, diving and then 2 weeks in Sudan in December, diving. Egypt is great OP. I was sceptical before going but it was fab; lovely beaches and amazing people who are so proud of their country.

VenusClapTrap · 19/01/2019 07:50

Ooh PenguinPandas we had the most amazing time in Norway last summer. I’m desperate to go again, it was so heartstoppingly beautiful. Where in Sweden are you watching the wildlife?

RayRayBidet · 19/01/2019 07:58

@recently
It's a nice size to walk around, mixture of posh shops and beach tat type shops. AMAZING food, big choice of restaurants lots of ice cream shops. Nice beaches, there is a long shallow area so it's great for kids as you have to go quite far out to be out of your depth. My two messed about for hours.
Nice hotel standard, lovely friendly locals.
It's much much nicer than places like Rimini or Lido de Jesolo.
Two 5th century churches and a quaint village to wander around.
You get to it by a road bridge so it's not really cut off but it feels really peaceful. On the mainland is an ancient Roman site called Aquileia which is worth a morning wandering around (its free).
Trieste and Venice are within easy reach for a day trip.
Lovely Italian grandma's always sit on the benches on the seafront in the evenings, my dd age 7 likes to call out to them and they all say "ciao Bella" back to her. It's such a nice place!

PenguinPandas · 19/01/2019 08:04

Venus Glad you had a nice time in Norway. The wildlife in Sweden is through Wild Sweden. We also stayed before at Arola Bears in Finland and saw 8 brown bears including 2 cubs in the wild, the lady cooks homemade food and makes homemade juices for all the meals and you stay in a chalet with own sauna and they gave us two canoes to go on river with. Would recommend that - there were also reindeer on the road a lot including white ones. Think you can do moose safari in Finland too, bit further north of the bears we saw it advertised.

WillowKnicks · 19/01/2019 08:07

We're going to Sal, Cape Verde in July.

Never been before & we're really looking forward to it

babysharkah · 19/01/2019 08:08

whiteroseredrose · 19/01/2019 08:12

We usually visit the inlaws in Spain but this year we're going to Germany instead. Berlin then Dresden then Prague. I wanted to do Berlin then the Baltic coast but I was outvoted!

zippyswife · 19/01/2019 08:17

@Littlecaf what/who did you book your Croatia holiday through? I’m looking for something similar

VenusClapTrap · 19/01/2019 08:21

Thanks Penguins.

Metalhead · 19/01/2019 08:22

Palmanova, Majorca. Not very original I know, but we went to a great hotel there two years ago which both DDs loved, close to the beach, so we’re going back again for some summer sun.

MacarenaFerreiro · 19/01/2019 08:26

South of France for a week at the start of July when the schools break up. Then a week in the Canaries in October.

PenguinPandas · 19/01/2019 08:32

Off to The algarve for a week in august. Cost over £600 less than it would for the same week at centre parks! I know where I'd rather be.
